My 1999 iBook came with some version of OS 9 and has had every version of X up to the 10.3 which is on it currently. My 2002 iMac came with 10.1 I think and has 10.4 just now. My mum's 1998 iMac has 10.3.
It's also allowed to update the hardware. My iMac has a bigger HD than it came with and I replaced the DVD burner with a dual layer one a year or so back.
Where did you pick up this nonsense about not being able to update things?
I work in Scottish schools. The whole authority went over to Windows as part of the PPP deal about 5 years ago. All the hardware is HP. The system is managed. If you want to have something added to it like a scanner, printer or software it will cost an arm and leg and you can only choose from their catalogue of hardware.
Some of us bring in our own machines with other OS on them but most staff are not interested.
I teach biology, not computing, but I use Apple and Linux machines to do it.
You need Kirk in a fist fight with a torn shirt and some scantily clad lady aliens. It's that simple, defy authority, destroy property and take people's clothes off.
My road bike, MTB and Longstaff TWD trike have Campag grouppos, (CdA, Centaur, Chorus).
Most of the time I ride Bromptons which don't have any Shimano bits on them, mix of custom, TA and Sachs. The three speeds have SA hubs which I think are now made somewhere outwith Europe. M6R with SON generator hub in winter and S6L in summer.
The only place I use Windows is at work and I get there by Brompton with a PowerBook in my bag. I took an old ATX box in on it last week and put Edubuntu on it for the kids.
It can be done but, with bikes anyway, it costs a bit more. It's worth the extra.
Bikes sold with no pedals is quite common in the UK. It allows the bike shop to claim they didn't sell a complete bike and they don't have to comply with some laws. They also get to charge you for pedals as an extra.
If I plug my iPod into another machine which is authorised to use my iTunes account then it will ask if I want to copy the purchased music from the iPod to the computer.
It's an easy way to back it up, even an off site back up in my mum's house.
Ayrshire, Glasgow, North Lanarkshire and East Dumbartonshire did use Macs. North Lanarkshire still does. Glasgow did a PFI deal on school and belongs to Mitel/HP now.
I still use my own PowerBook and sneak the odd Mac Classic/Linux machine in for the kids to play with.
Trainspotting was set in Edinburgh, not Glasgow. Nonetheless a lot of it was filmed in Glasgow which is a wee bit annoying for us when we watch it. The club they go dancing in was called the Volcano and used to be in Partick, Glasgow. The hospital they use is Cannisburn which is to the north west of Glasgow. The first scene running down the street is Prince's St, Edinburgh. Other outdoor shots are clearly Glasgow, the buildings are quite different.
No, the OS X root and admin user passwords are not the same. You need an admin password to turn on root at which time it will ask you for a root password. If you give it the same one then that's up to you.

You can ask directory inquiries to connect you to the number you requested but there is charge for this... and it's too much for me to want to pay it.
Benton Frasier would never do this.
It's no problem to update the OS.

There is one in the detention cell in Star Trek V.

Well I'll go to the top of our stairs. Something from Bill Gates was just hype and marketing spin.
In the USA WW2 didn't start till the 40s so you can understand the confusion.

Patent on the wheel can't be long in coming.
I have a Firewire iSight and there is a wee green LED on the top. It also has a shutter.

My last bike purchase arrived with standard Shimano SPDs which wasn't very useful because it's a folding bike and needs a folding pedal.

You can do that now.

So now they shaft Intel and AMD.
I was right with you until this "The BBC seems to have the ability to
piss off the Government more than any other organisation in England. "
The BBC piss off the government here in Scotland too.
Watching Newsnight on my iPod right now.
More than 10 and it's "Rule 11: Use notifications judiciously" which is a great change. Those things bug the hell out of me.
What about "Everyone is called Bruce."?

The first thing on the list is the 1966 World cup because 1966 sorts first. And they wonder why Scots get fed up with it!

I've never seen anybody use predictive text.
