There are plenty of developers here now in the U.S. It boils down to money, tech giants don't want to spend money on more expensive home grown talent or spend money on training.

What cracks me up about the sV elite is that they say there are all for the environment and that global warming is killing us all, but they have all drank the "work in person" cool-aid as you say. We have a global network and many people could work remotely, image how many fewer cars would be on street and everything else if the Internet were used to its full potential.

Yes, horrible. I'd like a news reader where I can click on a source, say WaPo, and then choose "block WaPo". That would be really cool. Or they could save me a lot of time and just have a "Block fake news" button. Then I would not have to spend my time blocking: CNN, CBS, NBC, BBC, ABC, MSNBC, etc.

As a teacher, I'd like to see Apple or Google patent a way to use a phone as only a calculator or run in a sandbox -- call it classroom mode.
I don't think they'll do it because Apple & Google would end up selling less chromebooks and iPads for COWS(Computer On Wheel) carts to schools.
