I rememmber about a year back I had a sales rep trying to sell me the same thing for a pc, I asked him if people could get around it by just reformating the drive, His answer was the the program would be still be installed. So i then asked him what would happen if someone just replaced the harddrive and he said it would still report back to its server. Then I asked him how does a program that only work on 2000/xp connect to a remote server on the internet somewhere if there is no internet connection and no operating system installed, He said "its a new patented technology". So I asked him where does program that needs 2000/xp and 20MB+ of harddrive space install its self if it not to the harddrive. At this point he couldn't speak english and got disconnected.
It seems people will buy anything these days. I should get into selling downloadable invisable goodluck charms for you computer.
It seems I may have to hold may head in shame but I liked the first Black and White. Yes it might be a bit buggy sometimes but for something you pickup from the $5 shelf its not all that bad.
When I try to login to a irc server I'm getting "Due to abnormally high throughput, our site is currently offline." or "Server Full" Would I be wrong if I said half of slashdot maybe connecting to irc server and trying to test this out like me
I've used many tools before but I always seem to go back to using the good old dos prompt even on xp. Everday I remove malware from clients systems and find a lot get past ad-aware/spy-bot/anti-virus so I have to remove many by hand.
If you have something hiding in the windows\system32 folder the "dir/od/a-d" command shows the last added/changed files. Then if your unshore about a small file I use "edit" to open a file and look for clues in the file. If it has UPX or FSG inthe header I delete the file, other clues are things strings that refer to website I don't like or encryption that hides string tables.
But if I can't delete the file I'll reboot using BartPE and then delete the files. In BartPE you can use the regedit mount a registry hive then edit a registy file offline.
But remember some malware have deadman switches so if you remove it your system won't boot. ie NewDotNet puts its self in the LSP (Winsock stack) so if you delete the files winsock stops working:(
I would say that we need smarter users but that will not happen, so we need smarter hardware, there is 4 ap behind my house called "default" on ch6 all with default passwords and settings. If on install the ap could find a empty channel then use that or sync as to share a channel airtime. but nothing good old copper of uptime. but i would like to see a few more then just 3 usable 2.4ghz channels
think of a pda/laptop that can use its case to display infomation, a gamer pc case that customs to the game your playing, you could set your case to match your background or desktop.
thermoptics comming soon to a laptop near you
some laptops only use one of the connectors, so you could connect a second antenna and then the miniPCI card will use the one with best gain.
one of my laptops used a 1cm long printed pcb antenna on the top of the screen then I found a large paper thin bi-quad from another laptop, after I glued and connected it I had better range and gain. [sVen]
I'm faced with the same problem and found a few ways around it. I have a public network 3.3km away on a hill with a 500mw amp, I can sometimes see it but too week to connect. so I did some shopping. In total I got 2 usb wlan adaptors 3 pcmcia cards and 1 ap, I found that some of the old devices out performed the new ones. an asus wl-167g(usb g) can't see a network 3houses down, where a netgear ma111(usb b) can see half the street. Then I made a usb pringles antenna by inserting the ma111 usb adaptor 1/4 wavelength from the base at about 3-4cm depth. then I could probe networks over 2km away. both the asus and netgear uses an internal hirose antenna connection inside if want to add a antenna, you just need to crack open the case. You can also use a small tripod from a camera to help aim it. On mine the tin, tripod and usb wifi can be disasmbled and pack away in my laptop bag.
Another idea I had was to setup an AP to connect to the other wifi network then my laptop to it, [laptop]-[ap]----[other ap]-[internet... most good AP let you connect to other AP(wds). Upgrading the antennas is easier and i've had my AP running off a 9v battery a few times before.
If you using windows I've found using 3rd party wifi clients hold better connections over the XPSP2 zero config thingy
My main tip would be to play around and see what works for you , or just go buy that wardriving kit and save time(and money).
its all about which part of the brain you use, i never past a spelling bee EVER but when it comes to maths, logic and science i get state credits every time. when i was little i found it easier to remember Pi (3.14159265) then spell john.
I use telstra/bigpond at work and in the last month and a half it's almost become unuseable at times with page errors on google and other big sites, they already block ports(25)to stop infected machine send spoofed spam, but i think there is still more they should be doing.
microsoft give there products to schools to get them hooked early, to me it sounds like they want to get them hooked even earlier, so now kids can learn to hate m$ products before they can talk, [sVen]

The tools I would not leave home are:
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/Autoruns.ht
http://www.sysinternals.com/Utilities/ProcessExpl
http://www.nu2.nu/pebuilder (bartPE)
then
hijackthis,ad-aware(www.lavasoft.de),spybot,avg(g
and not to forget those builtin tools:
msconfig, cmd, regedit, "sfc

if you break your key you could just download another, maybe download one for someone elses car too while your at it.
fcuk th!s sutff is gettnig old, the important thing is that you can get you point/ideas across, 2/3 of a language is just padding and redundancy.

xbox? i wounder if that a marketing move, i thought an i-toy would be a bit better,
don't you think that if you give a kid a Xbox they will spend more time in front of a TV, and less time burning off that fat.
sounds like fun, first you take a packed lunch, second you use your card for all the apples you can throw
sounds like a good idea, i wounder who they stole it from?
well they say you can't complain about the service when there is none. [sVen]

I think you would get a lot of hardware problems if you had to share a office with someone on the munchiees or a small child.
I think its all the Xmas Spirits, beer or wine
