Good to see good journalism is going out the door - it would be nice for it to mention what makes it "cut-down".
I know it says "As part of the deal, Microsoft also stripped out some unspecified features from both products" but surely there must be more details available than that?
The article talks about applications possibly breaking due to the changes but doesn't seem to give any examples. It would be nice to know a couple of applications that broke (and how) so you can ascertain the kinds of applications you're going to have to watch...

I'd say AWT was much more ugly - Swing in comparison looks pretty good
...it would have been better for him to show the run times for all the versions of his program to show us what difference each of the changes had made...
I would say that Apple are working on the information behind the scenes but keeping quiet about it to keep it more low key. As soon as you making the public more aware then you'll probably get a lot more "kiddie hackers" trying to show off...
Thats a good point - I can see that it could potentially slow things down if it worked out that it could send larger packets but at the point of sending there was increased noise - surely that would slow things down as more data would have to be resent?
CanWest also owns TV3 & C4 in NZ... I must admit these two channels aren't renowned for their Sci-Fi - I can't quite remember the last sci-fi show actually (C4 being a music channel kinda does have an exemption I guess:) )
...that the price would have only been $100 but they had to shell out some cash to convert those protection "boxes" that cricketeers wear into lead shields for the male tourists...
Should give those "did we really go to the moon" people something else to talk about I guess - they've probably already got the TV programme all signed up:)
What sort of role did you have in mind? The only role I can see Google performing is providing a search engine for digital music (perhaps through Froogle).

Norton Anti-virus works perfectly well with Thunderbird - never had any problems with it.
Just FYI on the topic of human face recognisition, this subject was covered in one part of the BBC's The Human Mind series...
If laptops start producing less heat, then what are we going to use for leg warmers on those cold winterery days?

They probably have to finish it by January 1, 2005 so that Microsoft can buy the winning design and show that Longhorn can even power spacecraft :)
I notice it doesn't say what kind of passengers - wonder if mice are acceptable?

Anyone read both this one and Struts in Action?
If so how do the two compare - is either one better than the other?
They cancelled Futurama? Man am I behind the times :/
The thing that I didn't like about Andromeda was Kevin Sorbo - kept thinking of Hercules in Space!
