I got in an argument with one of my co-workers about this. My argument was simple...
There have been 5-6 processor changes in the history of Apple. Why on EARTH would I think this one would be any different? As long as the UI is the same, and we keep the same back-end, you could put a hamster-wheel in there and I could care less.
The people that are running around screaming 'the sky is falling' are ignorant to say the least.
REmember when Apple showed everyone a G5....the reaction was "That sucks...it's only 2ghz!"
Now we have people saying "This is going to be great!"...but NOW we have Apple going to Intel, and presumably a dual-core CPU. I'm imagining that it'll be the better play.
But what do I know...I still can't type faster than a 486.
I've had (in my company) 4-5 Treo 300s. They all needed replaced at least twice. (speaker problems, display problems, reset problems.) When the 600 came out, I replaced all the 300s we had. Big mistake. In the last year, we replaced EVERY ONE at LEAST 3 times. (One..my boss..6 times) They are ALL built like crap. I wasn't expecting the 650 to be anything better. So I bought everyone Blackberrys about 3mos ago. They are MUCH sturdier, and everyone likes them a lot better.
It's just trying to be too many things to to many people...and noe of them are all that good.
The people that are saying 'hogwash' right now are the ones that think good stereo equipment is purchased at BestBuy.
Anyone living in Cleveland that wants a demonstration is more than welcome to call me and I'll proove, without a doubt, that wire, power cords, and power conditioners, make a considerable difference.
...but they are all connected to an AirportExtreme.
Seriously, these are about the coolest invention ever. I've gon one on the 2nd, and 3rd floor of my house, and another on the patio streaming to the stereo out there. The range is outstanding, and the ability to stream music, and plop a printer almost anywhere make these little buggers WELL worth the $120.
I didn't answer your question....but hope others do.
This is something that should have been taken care of YEARS ago. It'll make it a LOT easier to switch people over to new servers/change IP addresses and such.
Can't wait to go......switch some IP addresses....::: not neerly as exciting when you type it out like that:::
Ok, cross everything you have two of. This could be REAL good, or REAL bad for the tech sector. I, like many others, lost my ASS on Palm when they IPO'd. I only wish I'd have waited a DAY, instead of buying immediately. My $2,000 got me a whopping 11 shares, that turned into 1.1 shares 6mos later when they had a 1-for-10 split. Now it's worthless...
I played the AI game too...it had me consumed for the 3-4 weeks that it was up and running. The end result was a private screening about 6-weeks before the 'real release' complete with handy posters that had everyone that had 'played' in it. (I have several hundred of these if anyone is interested.)
It takes a company like M$ to be able to dump cash into something like this, but I'm thinking that the payoff micht be something like the AI game where we'd all get a free copy of the game or something.
Remember that First Amendment thing? It allpies to EVERY AMERICAN....Not Just Stern, or Rush, or Al. The guy down the street can get on a CB and cus and curse all he wants. That's public airwaves...right?
Put yourself in their shoes. Every time they 'invent' something, about 6mos later, someone copies it (this time EXACTLY) and the world is amazed when Apple sues them over it. Remember the eMachines 'iMac' clone back on 2000? Remember the operating system that Microsoft copied back in 1983?

er...what the hell does that have to do with ANYTHING?
A dupe now and then is fine, but this is the 3rd time /. has posted this!
Come on gang...get with the program.
At least they are starting to consolidate the dupes. We had Podcast and Sirius on two different articles. It's like a mini Slashback!
I've been waiting for a "real" Star-Wars for years....let's hope this one works.
Bonus poiints if there is a scene where Anakin kills Jar-Jar.
They did this with Puma and Jaguar. It was 1-2 weeks before they had 10.1.1 and 10.2.1. They just didn't last time...
I'm running 8A425, so news that there is an 8A428 is news PAST what we THOUGHT was GM.
I'm outraged that they would do such a thing to such a film.

It's a shame that more audio electronics don't use tubes. the warm sound simply can't be beat...
It'll be a shameless plug, but here are some pics of some REAL nice tubes in action...

Enjoy...
That one was on last night...I was cracking up at how blatent Kramer was being.
Looks like he either...
A: Found the person
B: Was handed a law-suit.
In either event....game over.
It's a lot more noticable than you think...

Just food for thought...

I've never seen a single radio or TV that didn't have a channel selector an on/off switch...
128kbps AAC is NOT the same as a 128kbps MP3. Look at the codecs and you'll understand...
Yup, I love seeing things like this...I just laugh...all the way to my Macs.
This is a pretty decent one actually. I've auditioned it. I'm still sticking with 'redbook' cds for a while longer, but you asked for it...

Can you blame them?
This was our favorite topic at dinner last night. It's amazing what people will believe without looking up facts on their own.
