    Well iff the web email accounts are free there's a
    simple solution. A perl script that will go the the yahoo email web site, log in and get your email and save to the local drive, format the
    gleaned data so that it looks like it was popped,
    store the data locally on your yahoo inbox.
    It's a piece of cake.

    Also, I might be working on a plugin that will block any pop boxes. I will NEVER buy another product from X10 because those DAMN pop boxes SUCK!

    Let it go to court, keep up the good work.
    I had a similar contract dispute when I woked at
    Unicom, This isn't a big deal as long as your employer was not working on GPL code and also as long as the the work was done at your home. If the work was done at your home any Judge would throw the lawsuit out! Also if the scope of the work did not match the scope of the work done for your former employer.

    On the other hand, if this work was done during company time then you are screwed. If it was done
    after hours, they do not have a pot to piss in.

    What was Compaq thinking? Compaq bought DEC and look what happened. Well now there's going to be a lot of former Compaq employees looking for work. HP has a low end server line, so why do they need Compaq anyway? I think they just need
    Compaq's low end market share.

    Possibly some of Compaq's higher end hardware will make it's way into HP's product line. Who knows.

    The only sense this merger made in my mind was that HP was gobbling up a competitor. Why did Compaq ever agree to this?

    The problem is the MicroCRAP software that they are using. Get rid of Exchange and Outlook.
    Use a unix based mail hub, prefilter the email
    before you drop it into a email box. Gee!
    The problem is you have these Coporate SysAdmins
    that think they know what they are doing.
    Write your own filters. It's not hard. Hire people who use there minds and don't rely on shrink wrapped software.

    Man.. don't forget that most of the programmers at Loki were kids just starting out. And they believed in what they were doing and honestly thought they'd get paid. I worked for an ISP as
    engineer and some employees got paid with shares of stock. when times were tough (I refused, they needed me so I got paid). Well as time went on a friend was asked to sell his share back, he held out and didn't sell right away and demanded more money. This wasn't publicly traded stock, this was
    actual shares of a provate company... anyway
    He got it what he wanted. So.. sometimes we don't know the whole story. Perhaps the loki employess were promised part ownership in the company.
    I hope some former employees sppek out here on
    slashdot. I'd like to know.

    Here's a word to the wise, If an employer owes you a week's pay, cut your losses and move on!
    Or sit there, do nothing but search for another job.

    my network is 100Baset T wired in the basement and 1st floor, I am 802.11b to the 2nd floor and whatever other 802.11b device I want to use (Company assigned laptop, hacked Compaq IA-1 on second floor, tuxbot robot I am building in basement). This $465.0 does not support 802.11
    yet? Gee If I was going to use it to access my servers or the internet I'd want 802.11b capability.

    do a health study on this. I treat a cell phone

    I bet this is sonoluminescence. That's why they need to pump the solution with an ultrasonic
    soundwave. If this was true fusion the reaction would be able to sustain itself. If they are getting more energy than what's required to drive
    the ultrasonics, and this is usable energy with
    a load, then that would be cool too.

    What these guys fail to mention is what wavelength
    of the emitted photons are, and are these photons
    visable with the naked eye, or do you need a photomultiplier tube to see these.

    Gee,
    Movies are not free. Sure it takes 25Million
    to film a movie and they make 900 million.
    And later they make a gaizllion dollars on video cd and tape. I don't personally use my box to
    download video and create video CDs. But I do use
    my computer to create home movies and video cds.
    I resent the fact that there's a tax on CD/DVD media because the Hollywood want to recoup some of their losses. It's not fair at all.

    Don't these idiots relize that any form of copyprotection can eventually be broken.
    If there's a few bits in the header of a file to
    identify the data as a MPAA movie or perhaps a few bits that repeat in the datastream. big deal this can be cracked. If this is implemented on the hardware level, the manufacturer suffers because
    no one will buy the crap, And regardless of what Operating System one uses, the will be cracked.
    It's time to encourage the public to Boycot video.

    The days of the MPAA and RIAA are numbered. Imaging artists and musicians able to bypass the
    hollywood mafia, they'll be able to publish thier work on the internet, sell for far less money, and
    earn more profit. I believe that's what will happen. Copies will be encouraged because that's
    free advertising.

    Gee.. I was going to go see the Spiderman movie, if this keeps up "forget about it". I'll start a
    MPAA/RIAA boycott!

    Let's face it. If Intel and others integrate copyprotection on the hardware level, then that processor or chipset will loose market share.
    We'll all be running some Open Design homebrew
    box if this happens. What is the governement going to do,.. outlaw electronics as a hobby?

    I think it's time we all boycott the MPAA and RIAA.

    Hmm.. maybe it is time to start a boycott. No more
    movies, no more CD purchases. It's time to start.
    This is a joke! The video can be digitized in ANY format, not just the protected formats. What is this dude thinking, not everyone gets bootleg video from DVD or tape. Some movie houses digitize the video right in the projection room.
    Movies have sucked lately anyway. I went with my
    wife to see SuperTroopers, it had some funny parts but for the most part it wasn't worth $7.50 admission. "Clear and Present Danger" also sucked.
    It also wasn't worth $7.50.
    So now the movie industry thinks our computer technology is putting a dent into thier profits..
    Guess again, thier movies are not worth what they
    are charging for admission. So they suck.

    Most of my computers have been homebuilt. But.. my latest and greatest box, a Compaq 7000 series box
    with 1.3GHZ AMD processor and 256MB DDR RAM is
    an exeption. I bought it from Circuit City 2 years ago when they had a price posted at $850.00, and that's not with any MSN discount, that was the price. So I bought it since I was pricing out the parts to build a new box up.. and I was standing at $1400.00.

    Well the Western Digital 60GB drives that ship with the box are JUNK! It turned out that it was
    full of bad blocks. The problem reared it's head
    when I decided to load Linux with the ReiserFS filesystem on a seperate partition.. well the box
    failed after 1 week. No Install CD media. None at all from Compaq. Just an emergency CD that is lame. The Emergency CD is worthless if your drive is trashed. I had to purchase the media for $30.00. Also, Compaq sucks when it comes to marginal equipment, so.. I formated the drive and
    marked the bad blocks. I also formatted the partion that had Linux and checked for bad blocks.
    I had to use their lame install media.
    HP is now adopting the same practice.. UGH!!!!!!!!
    My next box is going to be a homebrew job again,
    at least with a homebrew I can overclock. Comaq's
    BIOS is LAME!

    I've installed Mandrake 8.0 on my new Compaq 7000
    (1.3GHZ AMD w/256MB DDR Memory and a BIOS that sucks! you can't overclock with this bios) anyway
    I've got IDE and SCSI devices. 1 60GB IDE (Maxtor), 1 60GB Wstern Digital (Sucks!, I had to reformat and ceck for badblocks for all operating
    system on this drive). DVD Drive, CDROM burner,
    1394 Firewire (works great with kernel 2.4) 4 USB ports (Keyspan USB to 4 port adapter, Belken 4 port USB hub, Lexmark Z52 printer) All USB devices
    work flawlessly, Nvidia Gforce 2 Video card works great!, Sound Blaster Live (works great!) Adaptec
    2940 SCSI adapter (works great!) HP Scanjet II (works great!). HaughPauge WinTV Theatre Card
    Works great! I'm using V4L and Zapping! I've also
    been playing around with creating family video CDROMs. I might buy Main Actor, for now I am
    using the vcd tools to create the vide CDs.
    Because the box is a Compaq this box is dual boot.
    It's much more stable when running Linux. I only
    use windows to attempt to reverse engineer drivers. I've got one of those Polaroid printers that print to polaroid Spectra film, it's pretty cool. I'm still working on the code that logs the
    dialog between the PC and the printer. Once I get the dialog recorded I can possibly start writing my own driver.

    The only time my box running 2.4.x locked up was
    when the bad blocks on the shitty Western Digital Drive upchucked on a badblock, so I had a previous backup on my Ecrix drive, I reformatted and checked for bad blocks, reloaded the OS, all set.
    I haven't had a problem since, but I still don't trust the Western digital drive so my /home is located on the trusty maxtor drive (No badblocks either).

    The tweeked 2.4.x kernel that shipped with Mandrake 8.0 seems to be very stable.
    I upgraded from my trusty PPRO 200 because I am
    teaching myself Oracle 9ias on my new box.
    Oracle on Linux, it's pretty fast, bat man does
    oracle eat resources!

    That's our governement at work for ya. The original atamic energy plan was to have two sets
    of reactors, a fission reactor and a fusion reactor. Radioactive waste would become fuel for the fusion reactor, and wast from the fusion reactor would be fuel for the fission reactor. No
    wast like that. Instead we are going to dump tons
    of spent fissionable material into a hole in the
    yucca mountains. .. well, gee what happens when
    radioactive material is stored together? It gets hot, very hot. What happens when rocks get hot?
    400 degrees over a long period of time.
    I guess it's better than the original plan, they were going to dump the wast inside mountains in New Hampshire. Everyone that hikes up the granite mountains knows there's water everywhere.

    Why not send the waste into outer space? Possibly
    towards the sun? Or a wast depot on the moon.

    If we don't use the fussion/fission model for atomic energy then we should scrap nuclear power all together!

    My first commercial IVR appliction was written for "Fall River Celibrates America", this is a yearly celegration that starts around August 8th. I wrote it 10 years ago.. before the days of Linux.
    I used OS/2 at the time. I guess a decent IVR
    that's got Multiline and Faxback capability would
    be a cool killer app for Linux.

    I went to college electronic Engineering and got
    my degree way back in 1984. My first job was with M.I.T. Lincoln Lab. I worked and a Jr. Engineer, mostly wirewrapping prototypes from schematics that I drew on CAD/CAM (Futurenet). The original schematics were drawn in freehand from some PHD. Dude. Anyhow later on I designed Access Control Systems for a company and wrote Firmware and software, left there and I went freelance and worked for myself, I wrote software for Odysey Software (Games), and eventually I got sick of windows non scalability and taught myself Unix. I tossed the old Sun Sparc 2 that I learned on and built up a slick Linux box. I got offered a job at a consulting firm that payed me to take classes and get certified on Sun Solaris. I consulted for
    a while and took courses and exams on Veritas and Oracle. I left there to work at a University for a while to be the DCE/DFS admin. I also wrote perl scripts, maintaned the EMAIL, and custom applications along with several other Unix Sysadmins on campus. I later left there to take a job that payed yet more cashola and utilized my Oracle/C/Networking knowledge. I am still there today working a Sr. Unix Admin. Usually the day iinvolves writing code to monitor systems, designing Oracle backends and application servers,
    volume group and logical volume management.
    Trends Analysis. This is also why I love opensource. The knowledge I aquired writing scripts in Linux and reading all the Unix books at
    the library helped get me where I am today.
    Unix Platforms from the most part are pretty similar. The Volume management and Device management is different but it doesent' take long to master them.

    I use AIX, HPUX, Linux, SCO, and Solaris on my job
    so I'm having fun!

    A NEO25 is a better deal. granted I use my lowly USB port to download to it, but, it looks great in
    my Silverado and it sounds great too!
