Imagine doing some extreme programming with this, with one person writing code and another following the first and correcting their mistakes & making optimizations simultaneously?
Then imagine one programmer pounding another into the ground screaming, "my code! MY CODE!!!"
I feel existence. There's nothing I know more directly.
Yeah, I know, you can argue this for weeks. Very interesting stuff, I'd say.
However, I still think I have the advantage. The sim argument can't just assume something that is doubtable. You can find many intelligent people who would doubt this component, so it's a flaw in the argument.
Ah yes, the simulation argument. Rather compelling, but here's one big hole in it:
It assumes that an "I" can exist within a simulation. That a collection of machine parts pretending to be my psyche (and perfectly so) will actually produce a being experiencing said existence.
In short, they're assuming one side of the Chinese Room debate.
Microsoft and Sun originally settled for $25 million, the maximum allowed under the contract. As part of the agreement, Microsoft agreed to stop shipping its Java VM in within a few years.
XP was shipped, and Microsoft decided to fulfill its promise much earlier.
I hope you enjoyed the grins, and if you were fooled into wanting to buy these, don't feel bad. You are in very good company . Save this site for the next April Fools day and see if you can find a victim or just a friend/co-worker with a good sense of humor.
Everyone just post your phone number and other ID info here, and we'll forward it along to the national registry. You can also include an e-mail address.
Israel will begin collecting royalties on any publication of the Book of Genesis. This new plan is also retroactive to any copies you may have purchased in the past. I'll post the Pay Pal address later, so you can all pay up.
Definely. The lack of such an audit trail in Britain probably caused the big Tony Blair screw-up, where he disclosed "current" intelligence on Iraq that turned out to be lifted from someone's thesis that was more than 10 year's old.
This happened at the critical time when Colin Powell and he were making their case to show that Mr. Hussein was developing and hiding weapons of mass destruction. Although the case was strong, the mixup story was more meme-worthy than the long, detailed chain of evidence, and probably thus hurt the cause more than it was helped.
I've been using these on the PC as well, and my observations are similar. I think it varies between products as well. PageMaker feels like a Windows 3.1 product. But Photoshop isn't as quirky.
We are talking about Texas, so I think execution would go over rather well. Maybe to be fair, they should only execute them if they trade files while drunk.
Soda's alright, but I'm more of a water drinker. Do you think you could adapt this thing to dispense water on demand?
IANAL, but couldn't you sue "John Doe", and then find out who they are via discovery from their hosts?
Good advice. Also, I think that long before the child understands the words, she will pick up on your efforts to be reasonable and helpful.

I read about a recent study that linked nut oils, which are used in some baby products, to the development of nut allergies later in life.
Also, I read about a study that linked night lights to the development of near-sightedness later in life.
Both of these need follow-up studies to confirm the results, so YMMV.

Sun got mad.
Looks like people didn't even catch on to this April Fools post. Hehe.
Very funny link.

Just yesterday I was walking around in a plain white t-shirt. Some cop arrested me claiming it had DeCSS printed on it in whitespace.
Normal newsoutlets have one April fools joke. Why does slashdot have to be different?
At Slashdot, every day is April 1.

Shhhhh. It's supposed to be secret. Oh well, we just won't tell them how to transport the stuff.
I instead run Folding@Home [stanford.edu] on my Linux servers
Thanks for the tip. I've added this to my sig.
Heh, when I read "Enterprise May Not Suck Next Year," I thought they finally were getting rid of Rick. Sigh.
Does it run Linux?
Yes, but your LCD will last a long time. OLED's have a much shorter life.
Yes. This, I think, is the most important point of disagreement between the prop and anti coallitions.
The American side said it was Iraq's job to disarm itself. Others felt that Blix would be able to do the job without Iraq's help.
Going to war seems to have the job of finding outlawed weapons infinitely easier.
Looks like the RIAA learned about the music web site.

Hell's frozen. I just checked.
