    Apparently, they were using them to make counterfeit money! We talked to Canon and they have a anti-counterfeitting chip inside, where if you put a $20 bill on the glass, it will lock the machine up, and notify the local Secret Service office. A half an hour later, the feds are at your door!
    It gives me ideas on how to D.O.S. a company by having its staff busted.
    All you need is a 20$ note and access to their copy room :)

    I actually bought a perfectly legitimate DVD copy of Hero (for the imdb people, look for "Ying Xiong") in Chinatown (San Francisco) in September.

    I do not see how it is forbidden ???

    You don't need to be a majority to rule a country, or earth for that matter.

    You can't rule a majority forever, you'll always be overriden by a new handful of skilled people because the majority is so malleable it is too easy to drive against its former ruling-class.

    Now, I am somehow reluctant about corporations because we are not dealing about a handful of insidious people, here, but with some artificial meta-creatures (close to the viruses) which morph into something new and impregnate groups even deeper.

    This infection might be even harder to cure.

    Despite the obviousness of his well-desserved "flamebait", the above AC got a point : since today, any foreigner visting the US must be photographed and fingerprinted like a criminal (BTW, Brazilians do the same... to US citizens).

    Now, if you outsource your company, are you sure your overseas employees will agree to visit the headquarters ?
    Outsourcing is more an US-centric puroblem than a serious worldwide issue, IMHO.
    There are problems around but mostly because of the lack of sales.

    Now, I live in Switzerland, and not only here but in many other countries, you'll see how a small but genuine "Swiss made" mention will actually draw the customers off other products.

    I am not sure there *is* an original game : there are strategy games, like Civ, Warcraft, there are Doom like (once again obviously unoriginal), there are multiplayer games...
    Well, the last time I saw a NEW game and said "WOW" was when I saw people playing Dance Dance revolution...

    I am not sure Apache is GPL'ed...
    It's rather Apache-Licensed, isn't it ?
    Otherwise Stronghold would never have been sold that easily.
    Anyway this was just a possible exploitation of the resistance by Microsoft, not an actual strategy...

    it'll take time until Microsoft actually lose money.

    I however believe they could develop, then enhance (read: "embrace and extend") their own version of Apache like cnet (before RedHat) did with Stronghold and sell this special Apache/NT...
    This would for sure seduce any PHB even though it is not guaranteed to be better than the others ports.

    Of course he can, I, for one, like to mock the French and most of what they "try to do".

    Now, the 3 movies I mentioned were the only Indian ones which got in the Swiss theaters during the last 3 years.
    I enjoyed them so much that I actually bought the DVDs... I am kinda keen on musicals, BTW, and ethnic percussions just does fulfill my musical taste.

    I read that a Sci-Fi movie will soon emerge from Indian studios.... where is it... wait a second...
    Ah, here it is : Koi... Mil Gaya.

    For most old-school netizens, the newsgroups are the best way to get spammed.
    Somebody once used Netscape to forward one of my private mails to a newsgroups.
    Since then, this address has become useless : too much spam.
    Now, if you want to integrate both systems, mail and news, you'd rather think of a non-obvious way to obfuscate email address.
    I also guess it'd be a good idea for Google to just enable anyone to EASILY get some posts mentioning his own coordinates removed.
    At least, they could detect email address and encrypt these.
    Until then, you won't convince me to use the newsgroups anymore.

    I am not sure : I went to the pictures in order to view this 3rd episode and I have to say I was not as impressed as I was after the previous one.
    I think something was missing but it has nothing to do with the CGI.
    I have NOT read the book and I do not plan to.
    That's why it was difficult for me to clearly understand why some characters appeared all of a sudden.
    They looked like patches applied to fulfill some scenario hole.
    Of course, I can imagine some angry moderator will kick my butt because I dare criticize what he might have perceive as this year's finest movie but now : face it : if you disagree with me while you've actually read the book, then you just cannot get my point.
    Now well, if Michael indeed read the book he has gotten far more of this movie than I and could indeed be trolling, if he hadn't, then he might be sincere.

    Because the company already saves money spending less.
    We are not bitches, I cannot accept such conditions : if we keep reducing our wages while companies make even more money then the population becomes devoted to the company whereas the opposite should be.
