If a descriptor is "recommend cheap and effective ways to solve big company problems" then that's me. My company is dirt cheap and the CFO signature is required for any IT purchases over $1000.
Google Apps is great, until Google decides to remove a key feature and replace it with an updated feature at some undisclosed time in the futura, ala Google Docs offline suite that used to work great with Gears.
It's also been my experience that Google doesn't really seem to understand what "enterprise" support is. "oh, gmail is down in that part of the US, it will be back soon, thanks for using Google."
Finally, you also need to hope Google doesn't piss off any other countries, like they did with China, forcing my company to add more VPN capability to access GMail from China. I have an email from a Google VP assuring me that Google would work hard to make sure that it's services would remain available in China without a VPN. Recent calls to Google support about connectivity issues...are basically "sorry, it's not our fault, use a VPN, we can't/won't help you. Thanks for using Google, this support incident will be closed"
Nope, they build projects all over San Francisco, so we all get a share of the low income housing. You can walk two blocks from $800K-1M house to low-income projects in various parts of the City like Potrero Hill, Bernal/Alemany projects, etc.
There's plenty of gang violence and shootings in SF, including the fallout from drivebys like the German tourist last year.
Don't forget the crazy homeless guys shitting on the street, yelling at you, or assaulting you.
It was also the first time I saw someone doing crack on the sidewalk in the middle of a saturday afternoon.
And, you could argue that the Soviet's space shuttle was superior to ours (USA). I remember watching a documentary on it and it's first flight was completely computer controlled.
Not my experience with Android.
Isn't it just a matter of going to Settings-->Applications and checking the "unknown sources" box?
My Thinkpad tablet already had it checked and was preinstalled with the Lenovo App store (and Lenovo App store apps like Quill) and I was able to just install the Amazon app store.
No hackers involved.
those are effective taxes, not the total percent they paid based on their profits. Do you understand what an "effective" tax rate is? An effective tax rate of 24% is not 24% of their total profit.
Those are EFFECTIVE tax rates, that means that Apple is not paying 24% of their total profits. Taxes are tiered, if you make $A, then you pay the X% tax rate, if you pay $A+$B, then you pay still pay the X% on A, and you pay the increased tax rate of Y% on $B, and so on up. The statement that "apple paid less than 10% of its profits" could be correct, assuming that the 10% is the total tax paid on Apple's total profit.
Right, there is ONLY DaemonTools, nothing free at all
oh, what about Virtual Clone Drive? MagicDisk? ISODisk?
I haven't paid for an ISO mount tool for Windows yet.
Exactly, I have quite a few Intel coolers laying around. What do you do with a big chunk of aluminum and copper?
I use liquid cooling on my extreme chips.
How is this different from any company? If you're using the company's computer, email, etc, don't expect any privacy.
Especially if you get sued. Your "private" company emails will be read by attorneys fresh out of law school doing document review in a big conference room. Most likely, laughing at the stupidity of the people who's email they're reading.
Apple crushed the GEM OS a long time ago by threatening to sue Digital Research.
Hmm, what's Apple doing to HTC now? What about Samsung? How about Motorola?
I'm sure management will thank you for the extra money they can spend on extra booze and food for the mgmt meeting!

hasn't been released yet. Playing with W8 pushed me to look seriously into Linux alternatives. (#! and Linux Mint) Valve should release Steam for Linux this year. how much light does the "centennial bulb" produce? Enought to be useful? How much energy does it use?
airborne distribution?
Not sure if I would consider Symantec an "expert" in antivirus/anti-intrusion solutions any longer

yeah, you can take public transit to work in ess eff, if you don't have to be there at a specific time
You're the one that brought race into it..."old, white male"
that explains the complete lack of respect and manners in the last few generations then
You do realize this article is just "speculation" by a 3rd party? There are no statements from MS saying any of what the article is implying.
Umm, it's an article by a 3rd party, it's not written by Microsoft, Windows 8 isn't released. Turn down your anti-MS hate.

From TFA: "Intel’s next consumer CPUs" Since when is a Xeon considered a consumer CPU?
maybe take a look at the apple forums link? First page, 10 users reporting the problem, not one.

You, sir, are amazing! You only needed 2 data points to generalize a population of 310+ million people.
