ok so you want a dilemma.. i bought a Toshiba 425CDS on ebay the other for $30.. Its sweet as hell and even came with a working battery..
of course its only a p100 with 16 megs of ram, but I still want to put linux on it.. there is a cdrom on it, but it is NOT bootable.. so did the old fashion thing, and made some bootdisk images.. its being a freakin bitch.. i've tried a few different distros, and none can even detect my odd cdrom, so there's no "media source" for it to install from..
i have yet to try SuSE though.. i just want a nice console-only linux box, with support for my PCMCIA Kingston NIC... if anyone has any recommendations, i'd appreciate it..
this clustering technology is super old school.. i know i'm not the only one thats thought it would be a cool idea to have computers take on certain high calculation computing tasks during times of idle.
i've seen some clustering projects come and go.. i really wish i could see some sweet software developed for the virtual architecture in which the cluster creates. the wonderful idea of cheap super computing solutions has yet to diminish, but i still don't see many potential buyers..
One thing I enjoy doing is going to the Thrift store to buy old jazz records.. You can't beat 5 entire LPs for $1.00.. Orrin Tucker, Benny Goodman, Charlie Barnet, etc..etc.. ya can't beat it..
it just makes me wonder why I can get such great music for so cheap a price, but yet crappy music like Britney Spears or Backstreet Boys requires me to pay $20 for their album..
its the CONSUMERS choice wether or not they want to donate the music to the public that THEY bought in the first place..
record reps should be more concerned with artists ripping other artists off as far as their guitar licks, chord and vocal progressions, etc.. creative artist protection.. oh wait, then they wouldn't be evil, and would be broke..
there's no reason people should be defending the labels in any case.. the people that do are biased in some way, or just plain stupid and inhumane.. quit exploiting my fuckin passion..
never forget that Art is expression.. anything that expresses human emotion in a creative and original way, by using methods such as music, painting, poetry, graphic design, anything you can think of, is art..
i almost think of art as anything that is therapeutic for your emotions..
but also never let us forget that about 85-95% of all art has been exploited and used for many many evil purposes..
i live with an amazing graphic designer.. i've never seen anyone like him.. if i didn't consider him an artist, i would definitely be belittling him.. see for yourself..
I sure hope major computer companies like Compaq, HP, Dell, etc..etc.., realize the true potential of Linux and what it can really do for their computers..
it would be interesting if these big companies just made their own individual distros of linux.. that way you could really judge the computer by how it runs with an operating system specifically designed and customized for the hardware that makes up the computer.. they could appeal to so many customers.. and they wouldn't have to sell the same computer, with the same grassy hill background, to every freakin person in the world..
sorry if i sound like a noob, but I just don't quite understand why they further the development of Mozilla? I mean whats the point when Firefox is their latest release?? I always thought of Firefox as the NEW Mozilla.. i probably should read a little more.. but if someone can give me a quick kick in the ass, i'd appreciated it:)
I have one as well, but not this particular model.. and it doesn't look like a remote control.. it looks like an actual mouse.. but it can ergonomically fit in your hand when you use it gyroscopically.. and when you set it down on a nice flat surface, it works just like a regular optical mouse..
i love it.. its fun getting use to using the mouse the gyroscopic way.. something different.. cool feel.. and ya don't need a surface.. if your arm gets tired, put the bitch on the table and its all good.. can't go wrong with these guys.. cept i hope the price goes down soon..
thats why, whenever I have a kid, his first computer will be a C64... just like me.. he/she will learn to appreciate the true meaning of computers and technology by seeing how it evolves..
however, i do plan on being a very bitter old man simply because I will not remember, nor care what it was like to be young..
truly amazing... there's no doubt in my mind its true..
people are definitely under estimating the power of what stem cells can do..
President Sadaam Bush seems to be running things using a very religious morale.. not good.. first he appoints some chick who was a nun to start making federal medical decisions like taking birth control off the market, not letting women decide what to do with their body's, and a number of other different rights that are in direct violation of our constitution.. lets not forget the advancement of human innovation and technology I.E. stem cells..
for those of you techie people out there, (that goes for anyone who is even registered on slashdot) its quite contradictory for you to be supporting a person like Bush, because of my reasons listed above..
you don't want a software giant like microsoft running the industry, yet you don't mind Bush being in office making horrible decisions based on CATHOLICISM????? CHRIST!!!!
i noticed a lot of people saying "blah blah when you die in that thing blah blah", I question wether or not they know what they're talking about..
because you should of obviously seen the crash test dummy video, with the car having a head on collision with the big mercedes going atleast 50mph.. any minor accident, even to a bit of a head on collision, you'll be perfectly fine in this car..
however, in any car, having a head on collision going 60mph, you'll probably die.. this makes no more difference..
this car would be perfect for my 35 minute commute to work everyday..
that things looks pretty damn cool.. i usually just use the AOL cds I get as projectiles.. Walmart had tons before they started offering their own internet service.. bah... they don't fly as well

what the fuck?? this isn't the matrix.. and this isn't Latin 101 either..
no matter what your decision is, question on wether or not you'll loose any dignity regarding the new choices of the company..
as long as you don't have a capital ambition, and morality means more to you, than I think you made the right choice..
openoffice and firefox
