your LCD will break in a couple years and then you'll be out a significant amount of money..
if its one thing that CRTs have, its reliability.. they last for a great deal of time.. and now for a cheaper price and being a HUGE space saver.. no screen lag and or blur like you get from LCDs, it seems the OBVIOUS solution to purchasing a monitor, would be to purchase a Thin-CRT..
for the guy having the buzzing problem, thats most likely due to electonic interference.. it can be resolved using a Ground Loop Isolator..
BUT ANYWAY, I remember the days of my sweet ass SoundBlaster 8 bit isa card.. god what a beauty.. everyone was jealous.. of course, the software suite it came along with made it twice as cool..
anyone remember Dr. Sbaitso the e-pysciatrist? he rocked.. don't forget the mimicking Parrot, and some of those other cool sound recording programs for DOS.. being able to reverse my voice, or put an echo on it, made me jump for joy.. downloading MIDI files was also a fun past time of mine..
almost every comment of mine, is usually just me reminissing about the good ol' days..
I still use Creative sound cards.. the SB Live! is one of the best sound cards I've had. i will continue to use their products, because they never fail.. screw onboard chipsets..;)
atleast with a Douche, you'll feel fresh and clean.. like a new start.. less worries.. and no iritation..
however, 4 more years of a turd sandwich, i mean.. how good could that be??
btw, the drudgereport is the worst source for you news you could possibly use.. right next to fox..
for such a liberating site like slashdot, since it promotes awesome rebellious operating systems like linux and unix, how could you vote for someone like bush? i almost feel that someone who uses linux, and is passionate about it, as far as its origin, and current day-to-day use, is very contradictory to their political beliefs, and is therefore quite the tard..
make the right decision.. take a look around your neighborhoods.. cities and communities that are nicely planned are obviously signs of an educated society, and you see Kerry billboards everywhere.. you drive through the boondocks that can't even manage their own sewage, and you see nothing but Bush signs.. they are less educated people, therefore they vote for the less educated president.. and it just so happens they watch fox news.. the most uneducated news network..
and jesus don't worry about fscking paying taxes... there's absolutely nothing beneficial you can get from life, without investing either time or money into it.. it makes sense.. you want to live a better life? vote for a president that manages your damn money better instead of throwing it away on killing innocent people..
sounds sweet.. i love the diskless technology.. there were some great Debian packages that made diskless booting a sinch.. simple NFS booting.. i can imagine it working much better with FBSD..
i wonder if anyone has worked on a virtual architecture for diskless clutering applications? to me, besides saving a decent amount on hard drives, the only true advantage to diskless booting, is utilizing the theory of clustering, using things like load balancing..
bbs's brought many good things to my recreational time.. hell, i used em up until about '97 or so.. still use some of the Telnet boards so I can do my occasional whoop ass in L.O.R.D.
i remember deleting my 3 megabyte games time and time again because I didn't have more than a 40mb hard drive.. needed to conserve as much space as possible.. but i'd always re-download those shareware games on my 2400 baud.. i was stoked to be one of the only people in my city to have faxing capabilites with my modem..
should be an interesting documentary to watch.. looking forward to seeing it.. but damn $50 is a lot for a movie on BBSs.. yes i cherish the memory of BBSs, and am looking forward to seeing some of the interviews, but I'd rather spend like $20 or $30..
jesus.. i think most of you can agree that you feel its quite lame for there to be "fake" or hollywood robots to be in the hall of fame.. yea they may have been cool characters, there's no doubt in my mind about that.. but what about the people that dedicate their lives to robotics? there's much more than ASIMO out there..
i agree with you completely.. it definitely slows down our learning process.. why did we want to explore space to begin with?? to figure out what the hell is out there..
the idea of capitalizing off space exploration, saddens me..
because just like everything else, it slows down the progress of learning more.. learning what we want to know, instead of just learning about more ways to make money..
the only way I could see it benefiting anything, is if the money gets directly invested back into the space fund.. otherwise its a waste of time
hey thanks for the link.. that program looks pretty kick ass.. lookin forward to checkin it out.. i never cease to be amazed when it comes to some of the software these people develop..
one thing that I like about it, is that its not GTK!!! jesus.. i just freakin hate the way gtk apps look, feel, and operate.. the dialouge is definitely not my cup of tea.. so this, is like a blessing..
the layout in itself, seems much more presentable, easier, and modern..
i'm looking forward to atleast giving it a shot when I get home..
i'll still love GIMP for some of the more technical things its able to do.. but i do get tired of gtk apps randomly crashing from time to time.. don't know why.. don't know how.. but this definitely appeals and promotes itself to the people, much more than the gimp ever has..
I work in an office of 5 of people.. our whole business is pretty much based online.. another thing to take into consideration, the office is in a business park with many other businesses and is right down the street from a farely large residential community..
DSL and Cable started becoming standard in surrounding areas of my office location.. but for some reason, i'm in a small black hole apparently..
i've phoned the president of Verizon Delaware, as well as Mediacomm and Comcast about putting some type of broadband out here for the past 3 years! no progress has been shown since..
the extremely sad thing is, i can seriously see houses on the other side of the street that get cable and DSL access with no problem.. and there is a FIBER fed PG box no more than 300 yards of the location.. but i'm seriously about a half mile too far from the 3 mile distance from the CO..
so basically i'm screwed atleast for the next 2-3 years verizon and comcast told me..
my business really does loose profits and a substantial decreased percentage in productivity because all 5 of us share ONE dialup internet connection.. yes of course i've considered the alternatives, but its just not worth it.. i'm not going to pay for an additional phone line, crappy satelite internet connections, or anything else of the sort when I can seriously see people right across the street that can get the access that I want..
that thing is hella sweet.. i'm a straight up PC user.. I have been for years.. the only time I've ever bothered using macs was in High School for yearbook projects and what not..
honestly, the money you pay for this kind of computer is almost identical to how much a graphic artist, or studio producer would pay for an optimal PC to use for such applications like the Adobe Suite..
Its worth the money spent.. It looks MUCH cooler than anything I've ever seen.. saves so much space.. and will run those applications like a champ..
if ya want gaming, then why are you commenting on this thread in the first place?
wow thats the biggest load of crap i think i've ever heard...

oh my dear lord!! someone's hacked knopixx!
i don't think GPS would be as good as an idea on Gas usage monitoring.. they should tax according to that if you ask me..
asexual browser indeed!!

if i was a rich company like AOL, i would merge with Comcast or Mediacomm
my point was just proven thanks to your fine example of tard-ness...
think of it this way,

Who cares if it doesn't run that good!!
it still is much prettier than windows..

oh and we're doing so much for humanity by learning to make more personal money...

"Also, a firm background in 3D graphics programming and C++ is a must for the interested reader."
in other words, you must be a slashdot regular
i like how Star Wars has their own little icon :-)
