Looking at the datasheet for that cable on their website, it seems like the only possibly unique thing they've done is to add a thin metal shield around the cable near the tip - from where it stops being UTP (with all the noise-protection that UTP tends to have) to where the plastic connector-to-NIC starts.
The cable insulation and the rest looks mostly standard - I mean, it's cloth and heatshrink (probably PVC) instead of vinyl, but I can't imagine that the change would make such a huge difference, even in terms of so-called 'vibration protection'. Are electrical signals really that sensitive to normal sounds?
So a huge markup for a very small piece of tin foil and some cloth. Whee! I use shielded connectors at work every day. I work in the industrial sector so we must use shielded to keep external noise from interfering with the network. I wish I could charge my customers that much for shielded cables...
I was just looking at the new Netflix Roku streaming service. To me this seems like a no brainer. $9/month for 1 DVD out at a time plus unlimited streaming movies and tv shows from there current selection. If Comcast was to start resetting connections while I was watching a movie that would really tick me off. Also don't providers realize that entertainment is moving more and more to the internet.
It wouldn't surprise me if the people in line are Apple employee's creating the line just to get the attention they are getting. Most likely for the new iPhone.
What bothers me is the user will use the same password to access all of there services including the health records. There needs to be a 2nd layer of security similar to what banks are now using when users access there accounts. This way if the users password gets snitched by a Phising site then there medical records will remain secure. I like the idea of being able to access my medical records online, but not through Google. Like the meta tag reads... what could go wrong?
We have been told by our IT department to leave the CPU's powered up and just turn off the monitors. I'm guessing they do updates at night and such. I have always thought it was a waste of electricity...

Ok that was way to enjoyable to watch an iPhone be blended. I was actually trying to stifle a laugh at my desk. This is the first I have seen a Will it Blend video so now I have to go find the rest of them.:)
I was in the store the other day and picked up a bottle of Pepsi. On the back below the nutrition it listed the amount of caffeine in the drink. It seems most of the Pepsi products had it. I was surprised to see that diet drinks had more than the regular ones.
"Microsoft has submitted...a large volume of expert testimony that finds in the clearest of terms that Microsoft's documentation reaches or exceeds every industry standard for the documentation of such technologies," Microsoft said in a statement."
So they submitted documentation to prove there documentation was valid?
I was in the adsense program for over two years and all of a sudden I get a message from Google saying our adsense account had received invalid clicks and was closed. What really pissed me off was that my wife and I had just started working on two new sites that were a part of a high traffic network. As such our adsense clicks went up a great deal with in a month and shortly after this they canceled our account. I know that I'm not the only one this has happened to. I personally know several people that have had there accounts closed by Google saying they have received invalid clicks. There's no way to appeal.
I agree with you 100%. I went into a RS the other day looking for a small piece I was needing that I know RS used to carry. I asked the sales guy and he looked at me like I had two heads. I finally gave up and went looking for myself. RS now a day's is nothing more than a mini Circuit City or Best Buy with most of the staff just as clueless as the big chains.

"Not only that, but because the microelectronics could eventually be made out of molecules, some computer parts could be biodegradable since molecules can be broken down into small bits.
'You could sort of rinse away a broken computer and let bacteria eat up the remains to be composted,' Wolkow said. 'We're hoping it's a very green technology. Not only because it could use a million times less power, but it clearly would be greener in the sense that it would just use less material.'"
Oh great. Just when I thought that computers had enough electronic bugs, now I'm gonna have to worry about real bugs eating my system.:)
The huge down side to putting batteries inside of the units is space, weight, and life span. It is less expensive to buy a high quality UPS to keep the servers up than it would be to have some type of battery built in. With the UPS you can replace the batteries fairly inexpensively and if a battery does leak then it runes the UPS. Where is if a battery was mounted in the computer if it did leak it would fry the whole machine which could be very expensive.
It's 12:15PM CST here and the servers are still not responding... I wonder if they are freaking out yet....

Now a days there are plenty of sites that allow you to add your own RSS feeds on the site. Find one that's not blocked and setup the RSS feeds on it.
A great place to look for bloatless software are Portable Apps. Most of them are compact yet still work great for there intended purpose.

That must be a $12 drink. If you really want to be wired you have to try Vietnamese coffee. It'll keep ya on a buzz for a couple days.

Ok, I'm not an English major, but there had to of been a better way of stating this.

The author did say the batteries were still under development so that could be the reason.
