That is often the case with tech startups. The founders are the CEO's and if the company becomes successful, moves on to Chairman and relegates the day-to-day basis to a hired gun - or more likely a closely held associate.

She seemed to thrive on making enemies within the old guard management, including the family (though history will show they are a bunch of nut cases running around California forests naked et. al.), and really how much of it is her being a woman? If a man came in with her attitude, he would be hailed as a financially responsible hero who was out to "save" HP.

That said, there are still some unanswered questions around her dealings at Lucent during the meltdown. She participated in some Worldcom/Enron type dealings while VP of sales and that has somehow been swept under the rug... probably never hear the true story on that period of history of her career.

And I get labeled a "troll" for defending Fox News, yet if I was defending Green Peace, I would be labeled "Insightful". ROFLMAO.

All this means is folks like you who have time to type drivel are the ones most likely to bitch about Fox News. Maybe you should sit back and actually think about what made Fox News the most popular news network. Maybe people are sick and tired of the BS fed for YEARS on the mainstream networks... the negative news... the bashing of any conservative viewpoints and they themselves are to blame for the rise of Fox News and the likes of Rush Limbaugh.

Nonetheless, its enough money to get suckered in - enough to get the things you relate - cable tv/modem, cell phone, etc. And for a struggling college kid, this seems like a huge improvement. But once stuck into this... they never or rarely get out. A few move up a notch or two, but most languish.

That's why any proposal for living wage is a bad idea. This lets people get complacent and satisified at a living wage with little incentive to move up or on.
