They don't even have to do that. MSFT has now said that it's up to the developer if they will allow games to be resold or not. They don't need any sort of a fig leaf, they just say the game is only licensed for 1 xbox live account.
To me, the thing that sucks even more is that the console has to phone home once a day, or you can't play anything.
Look at all we've read in the press lately about the government deciding they own all phone records, and they've been compiling this data without our knowledge for some time.
Why should we believe the console which is phoning home won't be collecting information about us and reporting it to anyone who has access to use/abuse the system?
Sure, they say the Kinect isn't going to record you. But we pretty much know the government collects first and asks permission later (if ever). They don't even need suspicion to get your phone records anymore.
Maybe the Xbox One should be called the Telescreen instead?
I bought a PC that came loaded with 8, and I'm waiting for 8.1 to see how well I can suppress Metro. If I can't, I'll be wiping it and reloading Windows 7.
Surgeries which are routine and for which the underlying condition is less serious are more likely to be scheduled further in advance, which for many people means Mon-Thurs. Few people want to schedule surgeries on Fridays, independent of the myth in TFA. Cases which are emergent are more likely to be done on Fridays, evenings, weekends, the less desirable schedules - when a sooner opening is desired.
I would bet, if they examined the times of the year, morbidity and mortality in the adult segment would be higher in the summer. Why? The volume is lower in the summer, so bias enters the sample. The volume of serious issues doesn't decrease, but the volume of elective does.
Same for cases done between 7pm and 7am. If you're having surgery that time of the evening, you probably have something serious going on.
When you live under a government that will hack reporters' computers and secretly seize their phone records simply for doing their jobs, when they willingly and admittedly use government arms to persecute people who have qualms about their agenda - why wouldn't we believe that Glass could turn anyone into their watchful, ground based drones?
You don't think the DOJ, the executive branch, or anyone else in government would not have the capability or would stop short of hacking these internet-connected devices?
Why would we place more faith in those who prove themselves to be less trustworthy the more power we give them?

There are so many forks to so many distros out there, the goal of getting a lot of people to coalesce around one distro so Linux can gain some momentum becomes a pipe dream. (as if it wasn't already)
I think it's probably a case of egos more than anything
We have two companies admitting failure here, B&N and MSFT.
It's too bad about the Nook, they are nice devices. Nook should have won over Kindle, but B&N didnt have the foresight years ago to get into the everything business the way Amazon did, so they were always going to be muscled out of the market.
Microsoft on the other hand will probably just try to make money off Nook's patent portfolio, given they have failed with their "Surface" (which, near as I can tell, is some kind of break-dancing tutor device.)
Bitcoin reportedly tried to buy off a number of politicians, but the pols reneged when the bribes were provided in some sort of opaque pretend-currency.
I'm not talking about trading it in when the next version comes out. I skip many generations of things. But, for example, there are plenty of iPhone 3GSs out there which are still doing fine on the original battery. By the time it totally conks out, I'll probably be able to just replace it with a 6.
I've used a lot of iDevices, and in my experience battery replacement isn't necessary. By the time your battery is suffering, the device is up for replacement.
I'm not exactly sure what is supposed to be special about Surface, but people only appear to dance with them. I could see a lot of screens getting broken.
Of course, voting for a non-primary party will in fact be a wasted vote until such time as that party garners enough votes to challenge the primary parties, at which point we'll have three primary parties which are all just as bad as one another, instead of the two we have now which are just as bad as one another.
Probably that Google and Microsoft resemble each other in many substantive ways, including a declining respect for user privacy.
Google can get away with it, because they're our favorite company around here. If Microsoft did the same thing there'd be a 1000 post thread here about it.
Blackberry might have been able to resume their place of leadership in the business market if they hadn't waited so long to try to come back that most corporations favor a bring-your-own-device model now.
"How is it worse?" is not the question. "Is it wrong?" is the question.

I agree. I think GIMP is great for what most amateur/home users do with photoshop. Otherwise, it's still not there yet.

You should call up the guy who made all those Liberty Dollars.

I don't put used cellphones in the garbage to go waste in a landfill, I throw them at baby seals.

I could feel this trend coming in the air tonight.

Say what you will about Apple devices (like the iPad), their devices don't run hot and they are silent or all but silent.
So why did Apple have those things right 5 years ago, but MSFT still can't do it?
I think all 5 Playbook users are probably "meh" just like the rest of the world.
They should have called the new OS "Blackberry 3000AD", imo
I thought I heard the presenter telling people not to even look at the new Blackberry about which he was speaking.
To be fair, any decent app is going to be available to both iOS and Android, and probably Blackberry eventually.
There's a large amount of garbage in both app stores, certainly there are more trash apps on Android, but there are plenty on both.
Blackberry might have been able to resume their place of leadership in the business market if they hadn't waited so long to try to come back that most corporations favor a bring-your-own-device model now.
They're about 2 years too late.
Oh, ok. Do whatever you want, Mr Government. I still get my free stuff right?
...but it won't receive regular updates like Cloud Office will
