It's your opinion - fair enough. I just don't happen to share it. I'll leave the modding down to others. Thanks also by the way for not taking the easy AC route when posting it.
(This coming from someone who was at Liverpoot St station a matter of moments before the first explosion - if it had gone off that little bit earlier, while in the station... who can say...?)
Worse still - they went to commercial during the tribute to the victims of the 7/7 London bombing. Can you imagine how much trouble they'd be in for doing the same to the 9/11 victims?
The way this lot are going - that's exactly how they'd have everything done (so they can get a lovely directorship once the electorate have turfed them out)
Add Barclaycard (and thus Visa) into the mix... who have had payment by contactless cards far years......I wonder how Apple would manage if Visa threatened to stop taking their transactions?
(Won't happen... but an interesting side thought...)
The usual method is calculate it twice, using different algorithms, then compare the results and claim up to the point that the two methods start to differ
And you, sir, have believed more hype than 20 of the rest of us put together...
I might, if I'm feeling generous, allow you some of the "redefine" part though... except that he was the frontman who saw talent in others and allowed them to redefine existing technology and give it the Apple shine
Agreed......except for the annual campaign over here to move to GMT+1 permanently (and GMT+2 in summer) - if that ever comes in we may as well renounce any claim to being the basis for clock time.
(To the GMT+1 crowd - I say "if you want to live by European time... move to Europe")
Tablet PC? A company I worked in the early 90s was looking at them for use in hospital environments in the mid 90s (see http://www.springerlink.com/content/81yaax2hwc4d0f1p/ for example). Admittedly they were Windows-based, but you can't have everything;^D
The operative word you've used is "change" - I'm not denying that Apple took existing technology and improved on it... just that the "Apple invented it all" line that some people seem to believe isn't exactly accurate
a) Maybe - once the Home Office decides one way or the other, then the precedence set will no doubt be used (by one side or the other) b) The UK has already done that to a certain extent by agreeing a one-sided extradition treaty with the US - hopefully one benefit (whichever way the decision goes) will be that it will be re-examined... though given the politician's knack of saying one thing and doing another, I remain to be convinced it'll actually happen c) Fair point, although I can understand why they would use whatever they can (I have personal experience as my daughter was diagnosed a couple of years back - I'd probably include myself in the class of people who'd recognise traits in themselves)

And you've met a real Marxist I take it.
I wonder what real Marxists call Obama? A clue... it sure as hell ain't "Comrade"

Very true
US: Jump!
UK: How high?
That's how "special" the relationship is...

that he's having to hide behind Parliamentary Privilege?
Works both ways, does it not?
He doesn't need an iDevice to do that
Looks like "Dave" has a new tool to replace the old one (Nick Clegg)
I'd say you're spot one on that score

Incoming lawsuit...
"nor have any at expertise doing."
At one point, they didn't have any expertise at making phones at all... so your point is?
And then sue the Catholic Church for implying that other people might have come back from the dead... when he invented it

I never said it would fail ... I just don't like the excessive hype that gets generated every time
The likes of Doubleclick were doing this a decade ago - it's not new(s)
So... facebook.com sets a cookie...
Site B has Facebook Like button - which presumably is sourced from facebook.com
And you're surprised that they don't check your cookies when sending the icon???
Where's the story?

Nor was it the first touch screen phone, nor the first "app store" (though they did come up with the name I suppose)
Apple? Innovate? When? What exactly have they done that didn't exist before?
Making things shiny isn't innovating...
Correct - just the one provider.
As far as I recall Virgin/NTL/Telewest individually subsumed the smaller providers, and then merged (mainly to avoid going broke)
