  1. Re:Explain something to me . . . on Vista Makes CNET UK's List of "Worst Consumer Tech" · · Score: 1

Unless you recently purchased a Sony VAIO VGN-650N - a beautiful carbon fiber laptop - until a few weeks ago, Sony yielding under consumer pressure posted drivers for XP - up till then I had successfully found drivers (or somehow adapted a like driver) except for the following:

    1. The Dialup modem
    2. The built in camera
    3. The backlight dimmer (very important for power consumption)

additionally several things were just hosed - like the fact that inserting headphones did not disable the laptop built in speakers - a fact that I discovered after subjecting everyone in first class on Delta flight to the Chronicles of Riddik

all these things are working now BUT until a few weeks ago they only worked under Vista

So I disagree with your statement

A lot of comments saying that the US is not a free country - So "free" countries have to let anybody cross their borders ? There are rules governing entry for work, vacation, etc. Every single country in Europe, the Middle East, the Far East and every other place I have ever been has the same requirements or much more so. If you want to visit the US, follow the rules, or don't bother coming - I would expect no different treatment in any other country that has the sense to control its borders....

Here is a simple way we can solve this issue -

How about the government stop giving money to universities that do any research that has any possible application to weapons/energy/advanced materials/particle physics - they can give the money to defense contractors and while it will cost more money than student slave labor we can all rest easy at night knowing that we will be safe - of course the professors that teach these subjects will either have to find new things to work on unrelated to the areas above or go to work for said defense contractors (assuming they are US citizens who can get a security clearance) or they can start working for other governments - with no students doing any relevant research that will get them a job with said defense contractor my job will be safe for years to come !! I am sure the FBI would go along with this plan !!
