Laws aside, if someone intercepts the TCP/IP stream and stores the RTP packets that carry the data for SIP calls, then the can easily be remastered into an audio recording of the call.
As far as logging calls, the provider you pay for service, and the provider at the other end of the line, have every legal right to have a log of the call, even if it's not the audio but instead a record that the call was made.
If you look at the courses, one expounds on another. The first course is programming concepts with java programming, second gets more in depth, requiring a good knowledge from the first course, and uses C++, third gets pretty deep and requires a good knowledge courses 1 and 2 as well as a good knowledge of C++.
Of course, all of this information comes from the website, but I guess it's too much to ask someone on/. to look at the site... even if they are interested in "taking the course".
I get my inet through local ISP without TV. Just have to ask for it. At first they were shocked... and tried to sell me on it anyway. I just told them not interested. Don't watch TV, only want internet. No need to get their "triple package" with tv, phone, and inet. Don't use home phone, don't watch tv... only want inet.
My daughter's school (grades 6 - 8) has a rule that cell phones are not allowed to be used during instructional hours.
I have no problem with this rule, as long as they understand that instructional hours are the hours between first bell indicating first class, and last bell indicating school dismissal at the end of the day. I require her to have her phone off during school but she turns it back on after the last bell rings. This is outside of instructional hours, so there should be no problem.
I haven't seen anything about kindergarten iPads. I personally wouldn't want to do that.
My daughter has a phone she takes to school. She's also required to turn it off when she gets there (my requirement). She also turns it on when school lets out for the day.
I agree that some parents are not responsible enough, nor do they hold their children up to an adequate standard of responsibility. My daughter's phone is her "ticket" to be able to hang out with friends and go places without us. She knows if she does not do what she's supposed to, and especially if she turns the phone on during school, she will lose it, and thus lose some of her freedom.
If a parent teaches the child proper respect for self, and others, and responsibility, then there isn't a problem with kids having phones, nor taking them to school. Unfortunately it's the few that ruin things for the many.
How does that help someone in a desert climate? Or how about someone that is hundreds of miles from the ocean? Even better, an area that has had almost NO rain in the last 6 months with 100+ degree temperatures almost daily, causing a water shortage and the local lakes to start drying up?
The point is, water shortages occur despite the ease of converting rain water and salt water. If there is neither rain nor salt water it's kind of difficult to convert it to drinking water.
Unfortunately, Big Business only cares about their profits. If there's no profit in it, then being cheaper doesn't matter. It costs them more out of their profit margin.
I keep reading comments about Unity and how Gnome is gone, but it's not. Sure, you have to change your session at the log in screen, and change your default manually, but Gnome is still there. I have a friend that I loaded 11.04 on, and put her on Gnome.
I personally don't have much of a problem with unity, the little I've used it, but do find Gnome better for someone that is familiar with Windows, and Windows style menus.
OP said 14 yr old started the fight. In that circumstance, my kid wouldn't be in trouble by me. I require my kids to do what they can to avoid a fight, but if it's not possible, then they should have every right to defend themselves. What this story teaches the 14 yr old is that he/she can attack older kids and get away with it because there's nothing the older kid can do.
At the same time, it's entirely possible for the person being attacked to subdue without striking back. Unfortunately, I'm not sure how much difference this would make in the circumstance given above.
The schools could also cut some of their extra curricular activities, like sports. In Texas though, they cut the arts (art, drama, choir, orchestra, etc) before they will even think about taking 1 penny from football. Texas is a football state and will cut programs and teachers while still spending most of their budget on football. One excuse is the revenue in the high school level, but that revenue could ultimately pay for the program itself. There's no need to take from the other people that don't play the sport.
DISCLAIMER: I played football as a freshman in high school. Decided to take on other interests, like rifle team and working, which were more important to me than football.
I personally have little problem with schools disciplining my children, as long as they don't swat them, and they've deserved it. I've also told the school, with the kids present, that if the school believes they deserve a swat, call me and I will come visit with them. If I agree, I will personally swat the child in front of whatever administrator (typically principal) that would typically do so. It's not their job to swat my kids, and everybody has very different ideas of what warrants a swat. I've seen some parents bust their child's rear for wondering 2 feet away (to look at a toy) or saying they don't like something. I've personally received beatings for not "eating fast enough" by someone else's standards.
I agree that parents need to discipline their children. I do not agree that some stranger I've never met (face it, most people don't know middle and high school teachers, or all of the administrators at the school, not to mention the school board) doling out harsh discipline to my child. Allow me to be involved and we can work together to best influence the child.
They only would have to provide source code if they provided the distro "out of house". If this is an "in house" only distro, they don't have to provide any source code, not even to their employees. The GPL allows for customization and internal use without the need for publishing source code. It also provides publishing source code only to the recipients of the binaries. It's not required to give to the general public, unless they distribute it to the general public.
Had that exact problem with a Google+ invitation. Told friend which account to use (which is not the account I have logged into GTalk) and he still sent to the wrong account. I never got the invite.
Kids go to school right?
I used to work night shift, right out of high school. My GF at the time was still in school. I'd get off work at 7am, pick her up, and take her to school. I'd then go home and sleep until school got out and pick her up. That gave us the entire evening together every day.
It's entirely possible to adjust your schedule to best fit the lifestyle your family leads. For example, I work mon - fri 8 - 5 right now. Kids are in bed by 10PM every night. Wife is a stay-at-home mom/housewife. I could, theoretically, take a night job from 11PM - 7AM, which would have me leave after kids go to bed, get home around the same time I get up anyway, and go to bed after they leave for school. With my current schedule, I could sleep until 5PM and still be able to have as much time with my kids during the week. It also still affords me the ability to have a sit down, family dinner every night, same as I do now. The statistics listed in the summary are sad, but also partially the worker's own fault. I found time to be with people I wanted to be with while I was on night shift.
One of my favorite features is the ability to share based on circle. I can tell my close friends and family I'm out on vacation, and post pictures, and not worry about some acquaintance I barely know being aware that my house is empty. When I went to Mexico last year for a long weekend, most of my family didn't know I was out of country, let alone out of town, because I don't speak to them regularly. Posting a note to my family circle allows me to notify them if I'm out of touch for a while, especially since I always answer my phone. If they had called that weekend, I wouldn't have answered, and they would have been worried.
No, it's like the police wanting to drive your car to the impound for inspection, but you have to blow on the breathalyzer to start it because it's locked on your DNA.

I was referring to the three CS courses, which were the main point of the article post.

LOL! Showed my wife the gas version, she says "and it's only 55k"...

I ran Sid for a few years. I'd happily go back to it.

They have porn on iDevices now??? Thought that was only an Android thing.
Why wait for the toilet?? Turn on autopilot and play away.

Last time I checked... 7 * 100 = 700, not 1200. It's more like 1200 / 7 = 171.43 a day, roughly.

*IANAL but have read a lot about the GPL.
Of course they can, but then they might actually have to do some "work"... Also, maybe they just can't find anybody?

Or, when it gets that bad (I got a phone call 4/5 days on vacation once...) don't answer the phone.
