They would be able to share the information amongst their 5000 selves, and if they could record the lessons they learn in their lives, future generations would not have to start from scratch.

We as individuals stand on the shoulders of thousands of years of society and learning. Frankly, I feel as though by the time we are able to input all of the information humans have ever learned into a society of neural nets, society itself will be changed and then the net will need to be changed accordingly. And then at what point will the machine become more efficient than us at doing our thing? Perhaps we will just have to wait for language to evolve globally. Once these two things occur, every human on Earth will be able to share knowledge, consciousness easily. We will be one.

What we need is a method to ARCHIVE these communcations permanently, because this singular consciousness will be creating far too much data for any one individual to absorb, or even use efficiently before the data itself ceases to exist, as it has evolved into something else. What we need is a method to store every thought of every person every second at a sample rate equivalent to the rate each of our minds generates information. It must be coded in a universal language. It must be expandable, and require no external source of energy yet it must be permanent.
I came up with an idea for such a system. Remember, it need not be random access, although such a thing would be beneficial. I picture a giant crystal with many facets and lasers attached. I know IBM makes a little cube now that stores incredibly high density using optical methods. I'll leave the design to the engineers. But anyway, this thing needs to be BIG, and it needs to be very very secure and shielded. I picture like a giant pyramid or maybe 2, one on each Pole of the earth so it's fairly magnetically neutral. Feed it with a transcript of every communication and it stores it. And now, your computer's operating system will be able to do quick, convenient purchases while the New First Microsoft/Passport Bank, Ltd./all the other banks in the world collect a toll on EVERY ITEM you purchase online. This is just a cheap ploy by Microsoft to get a little more market share. Don't worry; the real enemy here is the BANKS, and you don't even see it.

I think there needs to be a citizen's veto system:
Basically, it would be a website ("secure") with a database/list of EVERY U.S. government program. You can run a search, you can browse by category. Next to each program is a check box.. If you, the citizen, feel as though a program is a useless shill and waste of money, you simply click the check box, and submit your veto.
Seriously, if we do not allow our "democratic" system (which is over 226 years old) to evolve up to our current communication capabilities, we are all going to be lost.
Of course, even though something like this would be EASY to implement, congress would never give Americans that much power.
Why? Because they like their jobs, which pretty much consist of accepting money from big business to make laws favorable to said big business. As if they are working for US. We are the ones who build this great nation, yet they just fuck around with it and spy on us to make sure we aren't trying to "take away their power" or are "terrorists." Guess what guys, nobody cares.
Anyway, got off on a rant there, but I was just thinking about an idea I've had for quite sometime, actually since the rise of the WWW in the early 90's: Why not CHANGE the system and make democracy a little more DIRECT?
Certainly it is within our abilities with our current communcations infrastructure to implement a simple CITIZEN's VETO system, which would allow we, the people, to institute checks and balances on the mainly corrupt government.
And after that, we could change the entire system over to direct democracy. Personally, I have plenty of time on my hands; I could vote on each new bill in 5 minutes each night (after reading it and doing a little research). That would put the power back towards the people, and stop the idiots in Congress and the Sennate from making decisions about stuff which (as we see a lot) they really have no clue about.
Let's face it, they are a bunch of old fuckers. Like your grandparents, they cannot use a PC worth a shit and they can hardly program a VCR. Sure, they can clean a gun, but frankly, these old fucks are on the way out.
The next generation in congress will be the boomers, as all these 70-90 year olds die off, and we need to have a system in place so we, their kids, can keep them in check.
It's a new world, folks. But it can be two ways: Their world, or OUR world.
Why the FUCK are we still living in the 1700's when we have had 2 industrial revolutions and a space age?!

I think in the originals, it was meant to be an us vs. them with them being the USSR (given the times). Now, perhaps the prequils are really showing something like what we have now in America, and that with the right "corruption" something like the Empire comes into being (thru Anakin->Vader).

If you really want to know what's really going on, you have to look at information about the world as intelligence, and process it. You can never ust trust what the paper/mainstream media says. You have to take it all into account.

The question is why. If this story is factual, one can rule out all coincidences. We are mostly scientists and know the rules of probability. So, these microbiologists are being killed by someone.

The question is, WHO? The answer is usually "some powerful government" but in reality, how hard is it to make a series of deaths seem like suicides and strange coincidences?
Any reasonably intelligent human who's read all the detective stories, watches discovery channel, and has the time to plan it all out could make something like this happen.
So then, the question becomes "WHY?" To understand the WHY, you must understand the HOW.
HOW are these individuals REALLY connected. Sure the story gives us some facts on what each researcher was working on, but there are no concrete links.
And why no speculation in the story on the why and how? Then you must examine the what and the when:
What: Biowarfare. A hot topic these days, and
WHEN: 31 days after Sept. 11th, when we are in the midst of this anthrax attack.
Many theories may arise from these minor statements:
1. People killed were involved in the plot, and were killed to keep from talking.
2. If this is the case, who was controlling the plot, and
3. Is this linked to Sept 11th???
Then you might ask:
4. Most of these scientists were American, therefore perhaps the plot involved Americans..?
then maybe
5. The same people were behind
6. Yet, is such an agency who is capable of a Sept 11th also capable of this other plot:
