  6. sleep on Sleep Less, Live Longer · · Score: 2

As a student at Stanford University, I'm currently in a course called Sleep and Dreams, taught by the world's leading sleep expert, Dr. William Dement. It's an awesome class; he's really hammered home the concept of a sleep debt-he's been doing research on this field since the early 1950's, and has pioneered the concept of a sleep debt: typically you need 8 hrs and 15 minutes; if you get any less, it goes into a sleep debt that gets progressively worse. He's provided lots of evidence; I'm inclined to believe him more. The course books are huge, but read the lecture notes if you're interested...

  9. paypal on Online e-Commerce Issues w/ PayPal? · · Score: 2

I also run a small online company that uses PayPal almost exclusively for its payment system. So far I've generally been happy. However, the one email I sent to customer service took a full month to get a response. Phone support was better, however the reps didn't seem like they were too knowledgeable. Needless to say, I'm a little bit wary of having so much money in my account, so I can only suggest sweeping the funds to a real bank account on a regular basis...

  10. can't believe it on Some People @Home, Some Not @Home · · Score: 2

Is there any precedent for something like this? I can't believe it's actually happened...in any case, I'm exceedingly pissed off that my email account has been disabled and my emails bouncing. What a nightmare for people everywhere (sysadmins of mailinglists, etc.)...

  11. at&t@home on Excite Could Go Dark On Friday · · Score: 1

AT&T@home's been sending out a bunch of emails over the past couple weeks, mainly saying "uh, we're not sure what's going to happen, but your cablemodem service might go out so backup your stuff". Personally, I can't believe it's gotten this bad so fast...I've been using my @home connection and email address for years, and it'd take a huge amount of effort if I were to lose one or both (more the latter). Anyway, this is pretty big, so I'd say there's a good chance everything's going to be resolved with little difficulty (*fingers*crossed*)
