    about 2 months after I started it. I saw then that it was going to be a disaster, when classmates showed me pictures of other classmates, inebriated, and laying in a puddle of their own vomit. Great stuff to have out there when you're looking for work...

    Seriously, a "notch"? I think they're run out of ideas so they're just coming up with stuff for the sake of being different.
      Anyone who would care about a "notch" so much that it affects their decision of which phone to buy needs to get a life.

    What's next, curved or foldable displays? (yes, I know, that is what's next)

    It would be nice if phone makers focused on things that matter, like privacy and battery life.

    I always figured it was Asus admission that windows was unreliable and you could still get on line when windows inevitably started throwing BSODs.

    Idiots like this get elevated to star status by the press, and then we wonder why/how idiots like this get elected president. This elevation of idiocy to fame and sometimes fortune (Kardashians, anyone?) destroys the basis of our society. Why should anyone work or study when all they have to do is make a sex tape or claim to believe the earth is flat and then bathe in the adulation of like minded idiots?

  17. No one is going to say to you "you didn't get the job because of photos of you wearing a dress on FB". You'll never know why you didn't get that job, you just won't get it. Your attitude is fine as long as your parents have a basement you can live in, but if you need a job to eat and pay your bills and other things that adults do, you'll take what you can get, good company or not.

  18. I had a FB account for about 2 months back in 2008 or 9. Then I saw photos one one of my inebriated classmates from a party that had happened over the weekend and the potential for self destruction hit me like a ton of bricks. I figured that potential employers were going to start scraping that stuff and all it takes is a couple dumb pictures to cost you a job. I went through all photos tagged with my name (no, none of that type) and untagged them, then deleted my account and never considered going back.

    There's one very obvious FB user who shall not be named who neither acts like an adult nor avoids trolling. Then there's all the "fake news" that people are dumb enough to read, believe, and pass on to others who are equally gullible. FB and other social media appear to promise a lot, but the negatives they deliver far outweigh anything positive.

    If you want to talk to others with similar interests, join a club and interact with people face to face.

    I hear you, but it's better to make them have to dig for info on me and doubt its veracity than to give them all the info voluntarily. They exist to sell me to anyone with a big enough budget to screw me and others. The really big budgets buy millions of records and win elections. The low budgets send me postcards in the mail advertising a new local tattoo parlor.

    I think if you're going to have a facebook or other social media account you should do everything you can to give them false data to compete with whatever they already have on you.

    The first time I saw someone post a picture of one of my inebriated classmates I realized facebook's potential for destruction and deleted my 2 month old account.

    I advise everyone to do the same.

    I think you've got that backwards. Talking points are propaganda for the weak minded. In-depth investigation/discussion is for people who know there's more to every story than the talking points/headlines.

    The problem is that the weak-minded outnumber the others by about 10 to 1. The GOP figured this out years ago, and more recently, the Russians. It's easy to mess with a "democracy" when the majority are dopes.

    The last time I looked, longitude didn't change with seasons.

    "their own rough idea" is very different from atomic standard time adjusted based on longitude. The "roughness" is measured in billionths of a second or less. The last time I saw a train schedule, it listed hours and minutes, not billionths of a sec.

    How about simply adjusting clocks based on longitude? Then the suns rises and sets for everyone at the same time. We carry tracking devices that report our whereabouts to our corporate masters. It should be easy to use the GPS data to tweak the clock settings in real time.

    What about when something is scheduled at a distant location, such as a train or flight? Sure, it's 10:30 here, but what time is it there? Arrivals and departures will always be specified in local time as they are now. No problem.

    Where is the elsewhere you expect us to go? We landed on the moon almost 50 years ago and haven't made it back since. By what technology could we get there in less than 300 years? By what political will and economic power will we get there? We're so hung up on our petty squabbles about which color of skin is the best, which form of government is best, whether science is any better than any other means of achieving advancement in our knowledge, and etc., that we can't form policies that look beyond 3-6 months from now. You're not getting anywhere with that.
