    um, netstumbler? didnt he just say they got linux booting? netstumbler does not run on linux (afaik). try kismet, you dumbass. not the most practical platform? i think he doesnt know what he is talking about. it is much more "practical" than the PSP just because of the touchscreen alone.

    john, you should be writing for symbian phones then. they have the largest fucking market share by far and all run basically the same binaries. oh, did i mention they have a C/C++ sdk avaiable for free? go look at the games already running on s60 series phones... sonic, doom, super monkey ball... and soo many more fast paced action games. so the question is... why the heck did you go with midp2? as you were saying, all that abstration sucks.

    big deal. my nokia 6600 has doom, a couple nes emulators, gameboy emulators, genesis emulators, even a slow snes emulator. not to mention all the native games written for this platform. it does decent web browsing with opera and doubles as an ebook reader. and... so on.

    in 100+ years we will have all we need to be able to ship all of our nuclear waste towards the nearest star or our sun.

    also, what happened to that other reactor that does electrolysis and power production at the same time? why not build tons of those and kill two birds with one stone?

    we are filling our atmosphere with CO2 when we could be using hydrogen without any harm to our environment. one thing our race should not be tampering with is our environment. if we screw it up and render our planet inhabitable we will all die. our country is leading the way.

    I *used* to have a fucking 2.4GHz phone, but whenever it was in use, my network link quality would drop to 0%. I kid you not.

    Avoid 2.4GHz phones at all cost!!!

    gd is SLOW when rescaling images. out of all the libs i tested, imlib2 was the fastest by far. imlib2 scales all my images on my personal photo album on-the-fly and the processor usage is never an issue.

    what about all those people who wouldnt even buy a console unless you can mod it? the amount of people who buy consoles just because you can mod it must be accounted for somehwere in there...

    personally, i wouldnt even buy an xbox/ps2 if i couldnt mod it and run all those emulators, media players and other cool utilities. my xbox is a media hub to my computers and rarely plays any retail games. 98% of the commercial games out right now are just crap anyway.

    how is the TCO of windows lower than Linux when...

    1) linux and most software required to run a productive server/desktop is 100% free
    2) training programs and cirtification for windows is more expensive

    this just doesnt add up. people buy the claim that linux costs more to operate and maintain than windows, but in my experience, my linux boxes just keeps on humming even when i dont perform maintainence for a couple months at a time.

    the bottom line comes down to familiarity. if you know linux, that is going to be your cheaper solution. if you hire dumbasses that dont know how to use linux, then you'll end up spending lots of time and money just getting to the point your current windows solution is at.

    wake up and smell the coffee, all of you!!!

    hey, didnt everyone hear the last time i shouted that XDirectFB does X compatibility for DirectFB? all we (as in everyone using X11 right now) has to do is fuck XFree86 RIGHT NOW and start using DirectFB.

    gtk2 has been ported to run nativly on DirectFB so all (most) gtk2 apps already run nativly. just all the rest of those other apps need to run in the X server (XDirectFB) till someone ports them over.

    and it purely sucked. i couldnt use normal service ports (21, 22, 80, 126...). i had to use shitty ports for everything and it really sucked. this was the korean ISP thrunet by the way. i hated them the most out of all the ISPs i ever used. their service was always cutting me off too. DO NOT THINK PORT BLOCKING IS A GOOD THING. it chops your feet off if you actually know what you are doing.

    um, are you that stupid? how do you know what it takes to simulate a brain, and create consciousness anyway? we don't even know how the brain works so you cant say that we can't emulate it yet.

    also, why always say that the movie "the matrix" is wrong? who says it's supposed to be right? it's just a damn movie, but using the outline you can create other "stories" that are more real.

    I can't believe that you guys get those speeds. I'm using at&t and it sucks. My upload rate is a fucking theoretical 0.30 Mb/s which equates to around 30Kbps.

    Anyone else use AT&T? What kind of uploads do you get?

    yeah, japanese works on the Z, but as far as i know, it is impossible to use right to left characters. QTE supports unicode, so as long as you make some input method and the subset of fonts you needed encoded in unicode, any language should be possible. i personally have made a korean input method and fonts for it.

    in all versions of quake, rockets never really followed any real physics. they always flew at a constant speed, no matter how fast you were running (flying) while you launched them. doesnt he know the speed of the rocket should be rocket thrust speed + speed of person at time of launch?
