  1. Re:Statistics and the art of blame. on Parents To Block Kids From Joining MySpace · · Score: 1

I guess it comes down to the fact that a rapist is going to commit his crime no matter what. They will find a way to do it and you can't prevent it, just hope it doesn't happen(and try to make it so that it doesn't happen to your child). What you can do is make it easier for the person trying to commit the crime to get caught. That is the best way to stop this kind of thing to happen. Thats why I like those programs the police setup where they fake being 12 years old or something and get the guy to come to them and arrest them. Those programs I think do wonders in early prevention(or at least I hope it's early enough).

On that same note you don't want to be sending your kid down a dark ally in the middle of slum town at 4 in the morning to get you smokes. Thats just plain stupid, and setting a target on someones back. I guess what I'm saying is there is a distinctive difference between preventative measures and being over protective. I'm not a parent and so I can't guess where this one falls.

  2. Re:Going back to capitalism. on What Would You Do As President? · · Score: 1

have you met the people who run large companies, they are dicks. I've only been apart of a union once, and I can say it was pretty worthless, and in todays day and age wasn't worth it. But to get rid of unions means that a company no longer has to worry about employees having problems. Factory workers are a dime a dozen just replace em. Thats how my one job was that wasn't unionized. You take away unions as a whole and wait and see what happens to how companies treat their employees. Unions have a place, the instill fear, I don't think it's the Presidents job to get rid of them. Having someone to stand up for the little guy is a good thing, it's what a president should do.

If I were to be president(I can't I'm not an American don't live in the states and so forth) I would try to not privatize as much as possible, keep things government owned as much as I can. To run a budget budget that makes a profit so that it can be invested into future costs and leave it at that. I would also increase spending on health care and living. I'm not too sure how bad it is down there but I know there are people around here that have jobs that can't afford housing. Investing in affordable housing(not just for the poor but middle income) benefits everyone. Money could be taken out of a reduced spending on war on Terror and useless comities that discover useless facts.

I would try to make people feel less like criminals, by fixing how peoples privacy is treated. If your aren't doing anything wrong then you shouldn't be watched. Instead of "If you're not doing anything wrong you have nothing to worry about". Stop stupid things like ceasing things in a routine traffic stop because it looks like it could be involved in an illegal activity, and never releasing it. The U.S. is suppose to be a land of the free, keep it that way. I'm really conflicted on copy write laws, and the DMCA. I'm sure that would be the first thing to go for some people. I think I would have to modify the current laws to require more physical evidence than just an IP address before it can even see a judge, thats for sure. Patriot act would be either re-written or removed, there are a ton of things in there that seem to be unconstitutional from what I understand of the U.S.'s constitution.

I would shake up the major government organizations like the FBI not to get rid of them just to make sure they have a few more checks and balances when it comes to public privacy. Not sure what I would do with the Department of Homeland Security. I thought that the FBI was doing that job before. I would probably take their resources and make them a branch of the FBI instead of it's own agency.

Lastly the war in Iraq, a lot of people say pull out. Thought I do agree that the U.S. should never have gone in their in the first place, leaving now seems irresponsible. One guy said it will cause a civil war either way, I would hope that maybe we could have a better resolution. War is a bloody mess, and I can't begin to think of how to clean it up. The costs to the U.S. for the war in Iraq has cost a lot in lives as well as money. Look at the debt that has been accumulated in the last 8 years. Maybe pulling out and letting the Iraqis sort it out will work. On the other hand fighting could go on for 50 years until someone decides that it would never have happened if the Americans hadn't stepped in and they blow up something. Look at what happened to Afghanistan after we supplied them with weapons during the cold war. Pulling out of Iraq in it's current state seems short sighted for more reasons than one. Not pulling out seems short sighted and unsafe for our own people. Your damned if you do and your damned if you don't. So I would be sitting on that button as president playing a more PR friendly version of "ini mini miny mo"

Comes down to it there are few people who can become president and do it right. You roll the roulet wheel on peoples lives, the economy. I wouldn't want that job. A lot of luck involved.

I do know that they were planning on releasing the keyboard again in December on a limited production run. I'm not sure if that happened. But yes I believe recalling they won a vaporware award. Remember though that winning the vaporware award doesn't mean that a product won't come out it just means it's missed multiple release dates, and hasn't come out yet. So if the December production run did complete successfully it would no longer be vaporware.

I wouldn't bet the farm that the RIAA will disappear they are too important to the music industry, as they should be. I think that the RIAA has gotten side tracked on the real issues of music piracy and needs to stop attacking the consumers. It is the large pirates the ones that are actually making fake discs and selling them for a profit that need to be stopped, as they should. Turning off large sites that share music illegally should also be targeted. Music shouldn't be free or you wouldn't have an industry, but on that same note you don't alienate your consumers by making them feel like criminals(even if they just rip their CD to their MP3 player).

I think what is really important is that their is an internal review going on, maybe a large shakeup will ensue and we can hope to get everything back to the way it should be. Protecting users from fake copies of albums, and protecting musicians from mass pirating. Your always going to have an underground community, you're just going to have to make sure your product is superior and stop the major counterfeiters.

Apparently they also had tear gas or something on a couple of flights. So besides the teargas the planes were taken over with people with box cutters and knives.

I've never read David Ray Griffin's "Debunking 9/11 Debunking" and I'm not interested in government conspiracies in regards to this topic. I have a friend who tries to make me more than aware of it on a constant basis, but wether or not there was a conspiracy is not the issue. Also that the cockpit is able to be sealed tight and locked. On flight security being tighter is what really needs to be resolved. I think your just plain wrong.

I'm a religious person, it doesn't mean that I believe every word written in the bible. You are confusing Christianity with religion which is plain wrong. There are religions that don't even believe in a god. How does your logic work there?

I've always considered atheists to be religious, they seem to religiously believe that their is nothing in the universe and that the universe appeared by some miraculous event that no one can explain. Takes a lot of faith if you ask me.

I've seen atheists be bigots and hate mongers I don't think this has to do with religion as much as that people are just dicks to one another and if they can blame it on something besides themselves they will. This hurts people who actually have those beliefs because those good peoples reputations are ruined by association. I have a lot of Christian friends that I was close with in high school, I no longer share their same belief but they still associate with me and I with them. We have many great debates about things, mainly because we are open minded but share different thoughts. The obviously never were racist because we had friends of multiple backgrounds, even some that were outspoken atheists.

This idea that people in religions are not open minded is crazy, people in general are not open minded, look at your comments bundling all religion into Christianity. Also putting a subgroup like the KKK into Christianity is moronic. Just because a hate group pretends to share a religious value with someone doesn't make everyone in that religion a hate monger.

I think I'm a good person I believe in Deism, I am religious and I'm not a racist or closed minded. I also don't believe that someone has to be brainwashed or crazy to believe in something. You have to be a pretty lonely person to believe in nothing(and by believing in nothing I don't mean atheism because I do believe they believe in something just not in a god).

Frankly I find your comments to be very close minded and closer to the akin of the KKK. You generalize people of any faith to be the same. You think them of lesser quality and you see them as "waste of skin." I see that as a huge hole in your logic.

Why can't people just be open minded and get along.

TorrentSpy also failed to provide the MPAA with full IP addresses of its users, testifying under oath that they were not available. Conversations on the forums between the moderators paint a different picture, however. A March 2006 conversation between a couple of moderators showed that users could be banned by IP address, and moderators testified that full IP addresses were logged until April 2007.

Sounds like the courts got a copy of the forums and they had been talking about banning logged IPs that they had on file, meaning they had IPs logged. Where did this information go? Destroyed? Also according to the same source of info they had talked about hiding incriminating conversations on the forums. This is pretty close to destruction of evidence.

They go on to making them log IP information which I think what the judge is trying to say is that if its in the memory it can be referenced by the computer and saved in a log so save it.

I don't know but TorrentSpy sounds to have made some mistakes on how they handled the situation. I don't think a torrent site is illegal but their actions they took on their way to a court case is.
