This may not be a popular position to take, but I suspect you might just be right.. I have already seen the rot set in with their desktop OS.. which started just about the time that SJ's healt took a severe turn.. 10.6 was the first to 'upgrade' to be demonstrably worse than it's predecessor, and many feel that 'Lion' continues that trend.. I don't know about iOS but if it follows the same pattern, there could be problems. The situation with Snow leopard is serious enough to make a 15 year mac veteran dump OSX for Linux.. that shows it's not just a couple of 'quirks'..

The damage that would do to the country would be EXTREME... We would collapse the massive US prison system.. with so few prisoners now to take care of the employee layoffs would be devastating, plus all the spinoff industries that rely on the incarceration model.. Not to mention all the suddenly unemployed DEA agents.. Also the Trillions of dollars currently spent maintaining each inmate would suddenly be released into the treasury, and as , even if every single one were to go on welfare for the rest of their lives, there would still be 75 % left over, as it cost *at least* 4 times more to house an inmate than pay the highest welfare rates in the world, if wanted. This money would be able to pay for bribes and arm twisting in the much loved political machine that everybody is so proud of, so that things could run even more smooth than they do already! The underground economy would be in shatters.. this tax-free base currently supports, it's been noted, 10% of the entire us economy.. just imagine the trouble ell the bureaucrats would have to deal with collecting these new taxes.. Which would also go into the coffers, with the savings mentioned earlier.. and promptly disappear like water, like all increased funds into the general revenues.. And what about those poor mexican mobsters, and american organized crime figures.. How are they going to feed their families now? Such a cruel notion,, changing a system that has worked so well.. at only the cost of a few ten thousands ruined lives, of insignificant minority ,or poor , or otherwise forgotten insignificant citizens, who currently have a nice job as residents in the incarceration system helping the great American machine pump along smoothly... Really!

I must be getting old.. i thought the 'myth' that everybody was trying to do away with was that macs were 'expensive'.. although i think they are.. for what you get.. I use one. Have for 10 years straight. Also have used PCs.. my Dad now has my HP Hackintosh i put together for him so he didn't have to deal with worms etc.... which in every way cost less than my iMac.. even the windows 'Performance rating' is much lower.. even so, it's faster, and less trouble prone.. both in windows and OSX (both my iMac and the HP dual -boot,and have an almost identical motherboard/chip combination).. I often joke with my dad that I'd gladly trade.. his is significantly faster than my iMac when running OSX..(which originally came with Leopard.. now 'upgraded' with Snow Leopard it's a slug..reminds me of the old 386 days). There's more to consider than price when rating things as 'expensive'.. Just because Macs *look* nice, the reality is that there's no difference between them and any PC boards anymore.. and the high end PC boards kick 'em to kingdom come.Plus their OS's are so damn slow and cumbersome how can anyone get any work done anymore, i don't know. Shame.I used to be a real dedicated Apple supporter.. Maybe they just don't care about their desktops anymore.. what with the ipods and ipads and phones etc...

I live in Canada, and some time ago wanted to switch from one of the 'Big Two' to one of the small ones (in fact the very first local ISP i ever signed up with).. Turns out that they have to 1) apply for permission *from* the big two, before they can provide you service..if there's any unresolved issues between you and the big boys, including , but not limited to) unpaid bills, arbitration, complaints due TOS violations of any kind, etc etc, they can refuse permission to allow subcontracting access of any kind.. and they did in my case.. This is the nature of 'Free competition' in a fascist social domocracy.. and Canada fits the description to a tee.. the description is, by the way .. Fascist social democracies are those states win which the government owns, and regulates, in concert with big industry, almost everything, and has no mechanism in place to appeal decisions, to one's elected representatives between elections.. These small 'independents' provide illusory free market operability, and only can offer more variations of packaging of the same services already offered by the big boys. Say, for example, that the big two are practicing DNS blocking of 'implicated copyright infringing' sites, which they do.. with regularly.. here in Canada, one of the few alternate services these smaller ISPs can offer is alternate DNS management.. However, that's already available online for free, with 30 seconds searching.. If there's throttling occuring, it is NOT going to be released via the subcontracting plan.. Even with Megabit internet, my speeds NEVER exceeded 1000 Kbps.. And now, down one step, on the high speed plan, i average only 300 to 450 Kbps.. on a good day .. if downloading from a 'suspect' file hosting service, my speeds often average 12- 36 Kbps... this does not change simply due to a subletting of the account. The main ISP is still watching the sub-letted account name, IP address, and history.. I could go on.. it's no different buying , say , car insurance, medicine (even if paying cash you still need a government registration card to be allowed to buy your prescription). Not as bad as the UK here.. but on the way..
