Buy a very cheap place.. one *well* within your means.. to hell with the 'dream' home.. once you have established any equity you can trade up and you'll eventually get your 'dream home'..or you can do like lower middle america and get one you can barely afford.. if your lucky enough to keep it you'll have paid double what it would ever haver been worth.. if you get a *good* deal on your mortgage !
Yup that-conf bit is the trick.. that way you essentially have a unique dos PC for each game.. i can play games in dosbox that i NEVER could on a dos PC.. pinball construction set for windows (the 21st century one) although the 'construction set' part is windows 3.1, the tables themselves, like almost every other pinball from thst era, are dos. But they run waaay to fast.. i had crank dosbox way down to 7000 cycles in order to play those tables.. but when finished i can just open another table that needs maybe, a pentium 1, and ems instead.. and it's ready to go...
Hah! now i know the *Real* reason sony disabled all those connectable PS3's.. how does it go.. the average PC would take *years* to produce an appreciable amount of bitcoins?
But what about a couple hundred original playstations?
The real thing has always *sucked*.. i'm talking about conventional memory requirements, EMS versus XMS, command line arguments to start every game.. and the weird compatibility uissues with video cards , hardware yadda yadda.. DosBOX has NONEW of these.. Are we all getting so frikkin old and feeble in the brain that we *ever* want to return to that nightmare???
Has nobody caught the unwritten undercurent? The fact that intel made this statement makes it appear that M$ *is* going to drop intel for ARM, as the rumor mill has it... or at least intel firmly believes it to be true....
And I've been saying that, also, to people with deaf ears for ten years now.. the minute america shut it's borders and dismantled it's constitution.. the bad guys had, unfortunately won
"Shoved down user's throats' ? well, maybe not features per se.. but how about the package as a whole ? Snow leopard introduced NOTHING, but took away tons of features.. ie breaking toms of apps.. and as far as 'shoving down the throat' well.. doesn't forced obsolescence fall into that category i have several apps that arbitrarily require SL 10.6.6 as a minimum OS, even though they were released before 10.6 even came out.. IMHO.. SL is an absolute disgrace.. and is SOO slow that i multiboot into vista most of the time, on my imac, because *Vista* is four times as fast as SnowLeopard on a core2 duo iMac...
Apple doesn't track anyone.. the database is just there for future purposes , for when Steve reveals himself as The 'Antichrist';-)
Lest you think this entirely facetious.. do remember what the first Apple sold for
re: "The fact that it's excellent advice doesn't mean it's some sort of legal or even moral concept that must be adhered to"
er..it's a fable.. that's EXACTLY what they're about
I know it's late in this thread, but i just had to say this...
I don't care about posturing by 'pirate parties' or any others.. the fact that we allow this gross violation of basic liberties and freedoms to pass without a huge roar is SHAMEFUL..
And no 'if you've got nothing to hide' arguments either..
I can't believe people still use that as an excuse..
Why isn't this on the news headlines?
I'm Canadian too, and i also switched to watching both of the available tv stations (;-) on computer.. no i lie.. we've got over a half dozen to choose from over the whole country....
It's not that we can't tune in to the other 2000 some odd channels available on line, but they're all barred from being broadcast in Canada..just like everything else.. up here everyone grows up hearing the phrase 'not available in Canada'
The only option to see them, then, is to sign up with the only cable service in canada.. just like there's one bus servvice, one land telephone line service, one auto insurance, etc,etc.. there's one cablevision service, for up to 250 $ a month..
If there were other options, less would be switching to watching on computer.. but there's nowhere else to turn, just as if there were somewhere cheaper than 6$ a gallon for gas, we'd probably use it too.. the same company that supplies cable TV also supplies broadband cable internet, so that avenue will likely be plugged in the near future..
Ain't "the free market' grand...
*If* the new 'Commodore OS 1.0' that is being promised materializes, i think it would be a go.. having an embedded emulator as part of the package is a plus and makes it more than a 'PC in a novel box' which is what it really is now..
But if it's such an important part of the package.. i find it ominous that it's NYA..if it's really going to come out, why couldn't they have delayed the commodore's release until there really was an installed and functioning copy of the OS available?
Oh how many others also 'squandered their advantage' i just love that term !
lets see.. who else can you say that about...DR, and probably PC Geos.. and....
still.. waiting for 666 comments:-)
probably included as a/. article because we all know Jobs is the antichrist...
hey he did sell the first mac for.. wait for it now.. $666

Product placement fees? From, say, companies like Crisco?
Bush Sr would never have had made that mistake (that you mention).. was it Dubya didn't listen to daddy, or was it he was only a string puppet?
What's a 'bookstore'?
I just bust a gut!! maybe you didn't intend the spelling error, but now i know why my ex spent so long at the computer shop...;-)(
