Although I have watched every episode of TOS, TNG, TAS and Voyager, and DS9 up until season 3 (I'm waiting for the DVDs), not to mention all the movies, I'm just not that much of a Star Trek geek.
I have no idea what Stardate it is right now. I can't name the Excelsior-class starships. I know that the T stands for Tiberius, but I couldn't tell you the episode title that information was revealed in. I've never had a wet dream about Deanna Troi. I don't know any of the Ferenghi Rules of Acquisition. I don't own any of the technical reference manuals. And I have never, not once, been to a convention.
Now that the shameful truth is revealed, I'm sure my karma points will drop faster than Enterprise's audience ratings.
Right, but have you ever encountered copy protection that didn't reduce the functionality of the software or cause security or stability problems--yet wasn't trivial to break?
...having to explain how to log in to your aunt once a month when she installs commercial software, or having random malware wipe out her OS so you have to guide her through an OS install once a month?
Personally I'd love a PDA with a 4.5" screen. The main reason I haven't upgraded my Palm V is that nobody's come up with anything significantly better. Sony are the closest with their CLIE machines, but the screens on those are still a little small.
Ideally I'd like something about the size of a paperback book. Oh, and it has to not run Windows CE.
They claimed they were building Mac and Linux versions simultaneously with Windows. They reported that all three versions were "coming along nicely".
When the Windows version was released and they had to go hire someone else to start the Mac port, it became clear that they were lying. Furthermore, I bet they're going to demand that Mac and Linux users pay full price even though we won't get any of the DM tools.
Well, screw that. The main reason I was interested in NWN in the first place was the ability to run campaigns. If all they're offering is another RPG, I'll go play one by a company that doesn't lie to me and try to rip me off.
Seems a bit unfair to blame Infogrames for Civ III, considering it was developed by Firaxis just like Civ II was, and they're just the distributors. Also, what do you mean by buggy? Firaxis have made lots of small gameplay fixes, but that happened with SMAC too.
The eMac screen is a cheap, crappy triangular dot mask CRT, not even a Trinitron. Using it for 20 minutes gives me a headache. Hence my only option was to pay more for an iMac.
Now, as it happened, I could afford to pay the extra. However, many other people can't or won't pay more for a flat panel, and would quite happily get by with a $100 Trinitron CRT or a monitor they already have. Except the cheapest Apple machine that'll let them do that is $1500.
Do they even make PDAs with CISC interface chips? I doubt it.
There are these two companies called Palm and Handspring, you may have heard of them. They make a large number of PDAs using Motorola 68K processors. (Palm also now make a few with RISC chips.)
Right. It's just kinda depressing that both the iTunes encoders are so awful compared to LAME, and that even when I tell people they could get better quality at the same bit rate using LAME, they don't care, they just use AAC anyway.
Then again, Americans apparently don't care about sound quality. I went looking for headphones at the mall; talk about a depressing experience...
"Emerge" is on the Fischerspooner album "#1". It's also available on a CD single.
I saw it, but I've been trying not to remember.
Yes, you have found out my guilty secret.

What, you mean perform the job of being an ISP in a professional and competent manner? Oh, now, that's just crazy talk.
Right, but have you ever encountered copy protection that didn't reduce the functionality of the software or cause security or stability problems--yet wasn't trivial to break?
Yeah, they used Java for the control panels on NCC-1701B, and look what happened to that.

Yeah, but the EPIA is slower than the G4, and the G4 iMac is already almost silent. (Like in an EPIA PC, the loudest noise is the optical drive.)
The eMac is 16x16x17. I'd say twice the volume of a G4 tower is pretty huge, yes.
Even on top of the desk it would be problematic. 16" + 24" from nose to screen + space for cables = 4' deep desk. Not everyone has that kind of space.
I "barely played" FF VII for hours. That's long enough for me.
The graphics acceleration under OS X is totally hosed, it makes the game *slower*. Will 1.10 fix this, I wonder?
Don't be silly. Windows isn't worth pissing on.
FF VII was great--until I got out of Midgar and hit the stupid Chocobo sequence. Shortly after that I abandoned the game.
Parasite Eve, on the other hand--that was consistently great all the way through. Deserves to be in the top 10.
Because I'm not a Microsoft whore, unlike you. I don't believe in financially supporting convicted crooks.

No, eternal damnation is reserved for those who pay money for Windows and hence support evil. Duh.
The eMac wouldn't fit under my desk. Have you seen one? They're HUGE.
I did think about buying a CRT Mac and running a usable display off the VGA output, but that's just so wasteful, not to mention ugly...
Well, the old games were written in assembler, which kinda evens out the difficulty factor for getting 'em bug-free.

Atari had a good reputation for tech support?
Boy, you never owned an Atari ST, did you?

When's the last time you encountered a luser who had a backup?
