wanted to use a gpl embedded c/c++ web server I wrote. One of the developers sent me an email asking if they could use it. I sent them an email to the extent of "I hereby grant you a license to use EHS (the library) in any way in multi-theft auto."
Either that was good enough for them or they didn't decide to use it afterall.
I'm pretty sure the idea was that FROM mexico, you could jump to South America, but the correction was made that Mexico doesn't touch South America, so no dice.
you can't demand the source code. It was never offered to you.
The only thing that can be done is that the copyright holder of the original software could sue. However, you can't sue for the software to be released, you can only recover monetary damages.
That's a big thing that people think that you can be forced to release your source code. The only thing you'll be forced to do is pay money to the copyright holder.
Sunday night after PAX I started coughing and by monday afternoon I had a fever. Wednesday morning it had gone on long enough that I decided to go to the emergency room.
When I got there, they put a mask over me and put me in a room. The stuck what felt like a wire brush into my sinuses and scraped around. An hour later the Dr came in and said, "You have the flu." I asked what kind. He said, "The flu." Apparently they don't even bother sending it off to be tested anymore. Since it had been less than 3 days since I got symptoms, they put me on some antivirals and some hydrocodone and sent me packing. They didn't seem too impressed that I was taking up ER facilities with the flu. Or with the common perception of what's going around these days regarding swine flu or just the flu in general.
and I've never had a problem with them. However, I've never had to walk more than a few cars down to use one. I've never been more than 2nd in line (possibly because there are usually a couple close to where I park to choose from), and never thought to myself that I wish there the old-style meters.
Also, people are usually pretty good and stick their unused time back on the meter for others to use. You're not supposed to, but it always feels good to give or get.
One problem I've run into using hardware raid is that if there is a problem not with the disks, but with the hardware controller, you can be locked in to buying another of the device that screwed you.
However, with RAID 1 or software raid, you can easily just put the software on another machine and be up and running. For this kind of thing where performance isn't the biggest factor, that's what I go with.
If you look up the reviewes on the drobo, everyone seems to love it until it fails. Then you seem to be completely SOL.
Often times my brain is tired before bed, but my body is not. If that makes sense. This makes it hard for me to go to sleep. Lifting some light weights (dumbbells that can easily be put in a corner when not in use) and doing things like pushups and situps before bed makes me more tired and lets me go to sleep better.
Also, doing weight training in any form helps you burn more calories when you're just sitting around doing nothing. Your body has to support those muscles and that takes energy.
You'd be amazed how much you can do with just a chair and a pair of dumbbells.
It's not intended to stop anyone. This is the courts doing what they're supposed to do. They look at the laws, they look at what someone is trying to do and apply the law. They then say: "You don't like our decision, change the basis on which we made it."
The other question would be "10% of what?" If you somehow made a series of 9-question tests, could you stop anyone from ever posting any part of it because 1 question would be more than 10%? Any type of artificial limit seems.. artificial.
I just looked at (a cache of) your site and you are fucked.
It's just posted for all to see. There's NOTHING in the post other than the questions. There may be discussion around it, but I doubt the ends justify the means in this case.
Seems like you could use 100% if you used each bit in your discussion of the content. But if you just posted that much and then commented on it saying "as you can see from above..", then you're probably in trouble.
The part about thecommercial viability of the work sort of makes sense, but it doesn't seem like you'd be able to claim that and squash all fair use, either.
Please note that it was 47% *OF THE PEOPLE* could come up with a rough percentage. Not 47% is covered in water. It was worded poorly, but even I figured it out.
The parent comment is crap. It's long and very specific crap, but crap none-the-less.
This may be true for one specific company, but in no way is this consistent across the board. There is *nothing* that is consistent across the board and pretending that there is is either disingenuous or just plain wrong.
Oh my god! Not news from October. That was going on two months ago. Everyone knows everything that happened two months ago. What were the editors thinking? Fire them immediately. Let's all go to digg or reddit or myspace where they don't do things like post things that are almost two months old. PANIC PANIC PANIC!!!
Wow, just let other people read it and go on about your business not caring.

Half life.

Trademarks. You have to be licensed to market something as a chrome os netbook.
You can make your own, but you can't call it chrome.

that's why you order a "martini" or a "vodka martini"

Overall, I'm happy with the system.

ten thousand parts per million is a lot easier to understand as 1 part per hundred. And a lot less impressive.
Reminds me of a bash.org quote..

That's a GREAT idea. Compete with the government. That's bound to work.

There was the problem where it's not actually any fun, though.
Especially after the first 30 minutes.
check out the gainestown.
Some info here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel_Nehalem_(microarchitecture)
This was somewhere (digg?) a couple days ago and it was in limited release to new users only. I still can't use it:
Our apologies -- instant watching is currently not supported for Macintosh.
We are working on a solution for Mac users and expect to have it available by the end of 2008.
if it's DRM-free, you'd better fucking BUY it to support people that make proper PC games.
If you could write off the value of your time, all you'd have to do is work 40 hours/week, volunteer 40 hours/week and not pay any taxes ever.
