With Ubuntu/Linux/GNU and the local advocates the teacher found, I suspect that this program will be self-sustaining. Other teachers will learn about the system hands on. Free software is like a disease; the more you learn about it, the more you want it.
My biggest fear is that the in-fighting of the various free software groups could kill all of this with too much 'love'. "This is better." "That sucks." "Use xxxbuntu, instead." That in-fighting is a bigger threat than MS or Apple.
Egads! I've been had? Can I chalk it up to being up too late after a weekend of too many 'serious' drunken discussions about what is wrong with this damn country...
I can't tell you the details without breaking business secret, suffice to say that the data we are working at is more than peta-byte, and there is no repeat or duplication
Really? So, you don't have backups? Incrementals?::smirk:: J/K. I know what you meant.
hmmmm... What investor invests in something they know nothing about? If they had paid just the scantest of attention, they never would have invested in FB. I am not knocking FB, I am mocking the 'investor'. All of the issues that the press screamed about after the IPO were discussed prior to the IPO. These are the same people that would have invested in tulip bulbs in the 1600s.
What idiot invested in mortgages after 2005? "No income verification! No money down!" Say what? Or derivatives?
And how about the dot.com bubble? I had already moved everything out of that sector the year before. Yeah, I missed out on a some gains, but I avoided the stampede. I do feel a little pity for my workmates that had bought on margin. Ouch.
They still haven't re-instated the Glass–Steagall Act. And they left the super, mega banks intact. Today the finance sector is right back to their old tricks.
I have to ask, just how many corporations actually have the volume of data you describe. Then I'd like to know how much of it is unique? It seems that folks have copies of the data everywhere and backups upon backups upon backups.
Has there been any research into what is contained in the mountains of data 'we' truly have?
And which of the actual carriers; ATT, VZW, Sprint, T-Mobile, don't carry the iPhone? ( This is in the US ) The other carriers are really just too small or are nothing more than resellers. So what is it you are really waiting for?

Take them from your classmate when they aren't looking. Then lend them back before the big exam. Of course, you will have to copy everything long hand...
I don't think I have ever owned anything by Apple. I disliked their whole apporach to music and stayed away from iTunes. Never touched a piece of iCrap.
I have dozens of them. All fake, all friending the others to some extent as well as with a number of real people. I've even staged 'fights' between accounts.
Yeah, yeah, yeah. With the Bionic Woman! Will they hurt each other in the sack? Tune in next week to find out. Or will Oscar walk in on them and join in?
I moved to Open Office a while ago and never looked back. Bloody stupid Office ribbons and xxxX files types. Only use it for job and they pay for it, so no skin off my nose.
But what is the point to living if we have to live in fear of death all the time. Don't you think it would be a better world if we could all live in a safe environment? Give up a little to get safety?
And I bet you that by this time next year, Netflix will insert commercials into the shows without being able to fast forward. And the price will be higher.

The most amazing thing about this whole sad saga is that not one single person foresaw Facebooks IPO problems. Not one I tells ya!
Really? Were you even reading the financial news?

Good point. Too bad it was made by an AC.

I am betting that you can recover that from your friends.
For a moment I panicked. I thought they were going ahead with the Intergalactic Bypass. Well, I'm going to hold on to my towel.

Yes, as they should if that 'everything' is claimed to have medicinal value.
That is their mandate. Whether or not the FDA does things the right way is another story.

It is nice when ugly corporations get hoisted by their own sack.
Are you lying about the fake account or about deleting your real account? Or both? Or neither?

ARG! Where are my mod points when I need them?

It could happen... On HBO.
All I want is an NC-17 rated version of X Men. Can you imagine the size of her ...
mmmmmmmmm...
I ain't all that worried about plot...

Wake me up when its real news...
Why doesn't someone post all the secret Scientology crap there?
Maybe now his company will take a closer look at the conditions under which their iCrap manufacturers force upon the slaves.
And to think I admired the man. The more I learn about him and what Apples does, the more disgusted I've become.
Xoom instead of iPad, Droid instead of iPhone and Sansa instead of iPod.

Except in this case.
At least Wall Street likes it.
Say, is Blockbuster still around? :)
