These may put out as much light, but it seems as if the light would be concentrated. The link mentions as much light as a 100W bulb. Does this mean as much light in a 1 sq-ft area as a 100W bulb, or as many lumens as a 100W bulb but concentrated in a much narrower beam?

  2. Re:Can't beat incandescents on DOE Shines $21M on Advanced Lighting Research · · Score: 1

Actually, the two biggest problem (and there are other problems out there) is heat management and cost. Incandescents and fluorescents radiate heat out of the luminare whereas LED's conduct most of the waste heat. The current Edison socket infrastructure are thermal insulators, so you either need large heat sinks or a completely new fixture. So if designers start changing fixtures then there is always the question of AC vs. DC powering of the fixture.

If they do, then go immediately since they will sell out somewhere between 2 - 24 hours.

I like Ron Paul too. However, his push towards small government would eliminate every single government support program. I think some of them, while bloated, are needed. Federal tuition assistance programs, programs sponsoring the arts and science, Medicare, the CIA. Completely ditching some of these concerns me.

He has used CIA intelligence to justify his position, but he then says that he would eliminate the agency.

Because I didn't. I payed for the game, why can't I have it installed on multiple computers that are all mine. They are going to be installed by one person (my son, BTW he's 5 not 4, screwed up). I have my laptop that he can use to play the games while we travel, my wife's laptop to play with while I am at work, and then when we get back to the US I will install it on my desktop where he will play it full time. To be fair to the company, the process of reactivation can be done 5 times without involving their customer service people. But DRM still bothers me. If the company holding the registration server ever folds then I will lose my ability to activate and play the game in the future if something were to also happen to my computers. By the time that happens my son will be too old to play the game but my daughter will be old enough. It's a potential problem. Again, why protect such an old, inexpensive game. I know there are at least 5 sequels to this game; I was planning on purchasing all of them. Not any longer. I hate obtrusive DRM.

Installed it on my computer only to find out that it requires an Internet activation. Now to transfer the program to my wife's computer (where my son will be playing it) I have to get it reactivated. Why the DRM for an inexpensive, old game? I wrote them that they lost this potential customer.

Disclaimer: no I am not seeking free legal advice on a Post-It-Note style invention. I don't work in a field even remotely related to paper products. My company has a corporate legal department and also uses external patent attorney's. However, talking to them is sometimes frustrating because my engineering logical view often times can't process their legal opinions.
