I use a particular script written in PHP and uses session variables. Sessions are saved to /tmp. From what I gather, this is a PHP server setting. Godaddy clears /tmp approximately every 10 minutes. This makes it very difficult to remain logged into Brim throughout the work day. I use Brim for online bookmarks, and having to loggin several times a day is a pain.

I have written Godaddy about this problem and asked them to either allow me to save sessions to a user defined place or change the time /tmp is cleared to once every 30-60 minutes. They said no.

  4. Re:Science and religion on Vatican Rejects Intelligent Design? · · Score: 3, Interesting

I believe in the literal translation of the Bible. I believe that the Bible is God's words (penned by men who were moved by the Holy Spirit) and thus must be followed because it is what God wants for us.

If we say that it is open to interpretation because it only has some nice stories, then what parts do we follow and what parts are just there as example? This leaves a wide door open for man's imperfect interjection of man's own beliefs.

For me, I have faith in the Bible because (by faith) I have chosen to believe it is God's literal word. As such, I will follow its teachings the best I can. However, if I believed that the Bible had man's interpretation in it, then I would view it as any other book. For me it's all or nothing.

BTW, this doesn't forbid me from learning and understanding the theory of evolution. I commend your school for teaching both in their respective classes. As many people here on /. has said - keep science in science class and religion in a theology class. Teach students boths sides then let them decide what to believe in.

One of the biggest is lead. There is a large push in many electronic industries to convert their electronic products to RoHS compliant products. It's a lot of work.

Sony and Nintendo have to do this too if they want to sell their units to Europe. From a general industry trend, Japan tends to be ahead of the game compared to US companies in terms of RoHS preparedness.

Eventually most of the entire world will have this type of legislation.

I can understand that one's personal music taste changes, but your post makes it seem like Beethoven's 9th is something of a bygone era (musically speaking). Someone else mentioned that Beethoven's music evolved as he became more mature (again, compared to his 9th). I don't think that one can classify his 9th as immature, annoying, etc.

His 9th symphony was composed at the end of his life. I can understand perhaps calling his early symphonies "immature" but his later ones were works of an original, genius mind.

The 9th symphony was the first symphony to add singers in a symphony. I have heard some people refer to it as a work that helped start the Romantic period. Finally, Mahler spent his entire life trying to immitate the "greatness" of Beethoven's 9th. Whether he succeeded or not is a matter of interpretation.

Second, the wording of the article isn't great. I think there is supposed to be a disconnect between the A and B point. In defense of the article author, they mention that there isn't a lot of detail mentioned. It seems that, first, it finds illegal music, flags this as illegal, and stops sharing it. Then it starts sharing out music that the music distributors want distributed over P2P.

Also, to every beast of the earth, to every bird of the air, and to everything that creeps on the earth, in which there is life, I have given every green herb for food"; and it was so.

All creatures were vegetarians in the garden of Eden.

Then see section Ten (Roman numerals) from this article.

    Couple final items:
    1) Genesis mentions that animals produced "after their kind" several times. Therefore, the Bible specifically says Evolution cannot occur.
