I agree with a lot of your points. But I don't believe that in popular media, staying power is a mark of genius. Staying power in pop music is more like catering to the lowest common denominator. True genius usually just goes over the heads of most common people.

Dude a regulation football game is made of four, fifteen minute quarters. 4 x 15 = 60 minutes in a "complete" game.
Now what we really want to know is what happened to the other 30 minutes.
Actually you can find dialup for even cheaper than that. Cheap Dialup is only $7.50 a month when you pay by the year. I'm still stuck a little hole in the middle of a fairly populated area that is without broadband. Well besides satellite which is a little too expensive for me right now.
Check out this thread on neowin.net it's about shrinking down windows XP. I've gotten an install down to about 400M. It was on an old 2GB hardrive, that was in an old comp that I fixed up and gave away. Anyway you can shrink it down pretty small.
Well....I think there are studies coming out now that show the claims of harm by 2nd hand smoke are HIGHLY overrated...and possibly that there is no correlation between 2nd hand smoke...and non-smoker cancer instances
I don't care if second hand smoke causes cancer or not. I should not be subjected to that foul stench in a public place.
I'm not a Microsoft basher, but I agree with this 100%. Zip Folders is a great idea if implemented correctly. I remember back in the good old Win98 days there was a program called ZipMagic. ZipMagic got it right. You could treated zip files exactly like folders. Every application saw them as folders so you could drag and drop, open files, save files etc. You could also exclude applications from seeing zips as folders. Things like scandisk could be made to treat them as files. But ZipMagic doesn't work on XP. I ended up installing Winrar though, supports all kinds of compressed files.
True true true. I am a part time nerd. I'm a tinkerer, I dual boot WindowsXP and Mandrake 9.1. I've had a dual boot configuration since Mandrake 6.0. I do spend 90% of the time in Windows, and just boot Mandrake when I want to tinker. Anyway the whole point is that the Microsoft bashing is part of the reason I come here. I don't personally partake, but it's great fun to watch. It's amazing how religious some of these people are. It's kind of scary that this is what they've become. Stripped of their faith, they've had no where else to turn. I can just picture the look on there fat greasy faces as the anger and hatred for a software company burns them from the insides. Give me some popcorn and a big glass of soda, I'll sit back and watch the geeks decompose.
I have a copy of Popmouse. It's usually one of the first things I install on a new windows install.
Popmouse is way cooler than any gesture program. You just shake the mouse or move it to a screen edge, completely configurable of course. I just give my mouse a quick counter-clockwise shake to go back or slam it against the right side of screen to got to top of page. It even came with a bunch of it's own utilities, calculator, file manager, alarm clock, scheduler, notepad etc. You can set up menus to popup with the shake of a mouse. It will execute keystrokes and will change configurations depending on which app has focus. All configurable with a gui. I wonder what happened to them.
I'll be happy to upload it somewhere if someone would like to host it. My server wouldn't take a decent slashdotting.

Uhm, getright asks if you want to install gator. Just click the No button instead of blindly hitting enter. Getright is a good program and it actually warns you about the advertising and gator during the install.
