The more computers you sell the more software gets written, the more useful the computer, the more computers you sell.
There is a certain amount of critical mass needed to get developers to create the software needed for the platform to compete.
MacOsX has enough market share to make developing worth it. and apple creates some great apps to fill in the missing pieces. Although each computer sold brings the cost of the os per computer down.
I'm late to the party with this post but for those that haven't seen the size of the car I took this picutre. They're small and tall compared to the cooper and gold and would seem to be easy easy easy to park. Smart car size
It supports Apples safari which AFAIK is based on Konqueror. You have to hit reload sometime because it sticks, but other than that I've had no problems. So soon.
Having been in a misbehaving renault on the side of a german highway.. I will not speak of good personal experiences with french cars. (The used to import them into the US awhile back, and my friends used renault was not very good). My experience is not a representative sample.
Although I had a puguet bicycle I liked very much and was quite good..
Of course he (ballmer)is nuts. They should have asked him if he had his own ipod (I bet he does). I know your first post was kinda a joke, but commenting that Windows can play MP3s out of the box, but MS is too chinsy to give windows users an mp3 ripper out of the box. A usefull tool for those with mp3 cd players.
It can play mp3s but only rips to Windows Media Format. Thus the popularity of itunes. We have a lot of cd collection consolidation because the cd/mp3 players are very popular.
A large data base company gave use prices based on Mhz of CPUs on the machine running the database (with a multiplier for Risc Cpus.) I thought that was inovative!
But seriously, if you install more copies you pay more. This is called selling and shouldn't be patented.
I use it because its more reliable than other software. Also excellent documentation helps.
I've paid for my open source support software when I've placed in on deployed servers. Without Apache/Linux/Php/mysql I wouldn't be able to afford to work on side projects as the overhead of windows/unix servers would be too high.
Keeps my prices lower so the software is more affordable and I take home more.
I agree. The interfaces are usefull for those that are already familiar with the device. The digital version should also have a more intuitive computer interface to go allong with the traditional one.
You used to be able to share songs with anyone on the internet using the itunes software.
Apple put a stop to it, probably because of the "this is no different than p2p", and it took about 2 days before it became listen and copy others music.
Its hard to sell RIAA music when they don't like what your doing.
I've looked into it. The problem is you need a really light camera. Small Balloons don't carry much wieght and they have to lift the cable thats holding them too the ground..I've looked into weather ballons too.
The Pound/pence/quid or whatever its called these days will fluctuate compared to the Euro. Its conceivable that if the Pound drops in value relative to the Euro the oposite will occur (It will be cheaper in the UK).
The VAT is an English problem.
The way to prevent this is to have the UK peg the pound to the value of the Euro (China does this to the dollar). This is not easy. Maybe it Euro time.
For what its worth some tourist in europe I've heard complaining about everything in England and Switzerland costing more. It might be becuase its different currency your getting gouged on prices becuase its hard to convert/compair
Our IT folks have locked down our Unix Workstations from mounting most media. These devices especially mp3 player that act like drives cause our semi-technical security to freak.
It will help windows make inroads into classified environments.
(some feel that store bought "music" media should labeled to its security level, except cd burners can't burn store bought music cds.)
I live in a City. In my zip there are 3 distinct areas, each had a neigborhood defined. Around the park, at this triangle etc.. Of course living in cambridge MA, those regions were already in the computer.
How the system reacts to sparsly populated suburbs remains to be seen.
For each zip you can have multiple areas. I'm not sure if they divide.
In the next OS X apple is working on an API that will send alot of comutationaly complex stuff to the video card. They showed a demo applying filters to video in real time (edge detection etc...) at the last keynote.
I think this is the solution apple is looking at, not just having speciallized mpeg2 hardware
This is exactly who they should sue, those making copyrighted works available to the public for free.
This is obviously better than having law enforcement become involved. (as started to happen yesterday)
They shouldn't sue the pnp software makers either.
If you make others copyrighted works available to the public without the consent of the copyright holders its a crime. Period. Your walking all over the rights of the creators.
Don't like it don't buy RIAA music. It doesn't make it right to take it and not pay for it.
This is to protect content producers. If the content producers want to give there stuff away for free, thats their right too (see GNU license). If they want to sign a record deal, thats there business. Its about the rights of those that created the music to do what they want with it.
It used to be called bootlegging. Now its a right?
Copyrights do eventually expire. (although it seems to take longer and longer but that is another story..)
There is a difference.

Does it run the New AmigaOS?

I've been writing some songs with garage band. Hooked up a keyboard and guitar and bass. Lay down some good grooves and mix it up.
Then export to mp3 and away it goes into itunes and onto my I pod.
Don't tell the RIAA..

Everone wins, except proprietary expensive software makers.

See. Firewire might yet be popular for things besides camcorders!
That solution is poor because the billboard doesn't mention google at all.
Once you know its google that method works fine, but if you didn't know it wouldn't work..

Beta Max is used all over for TV news. (Although there switching.)
I've been at CBS NY and AP/TV London and almost all the editing decks are beta.
They also have a new "digital Beta" or something like that. Equipment costs are so much most stations are switching to other stuff..

Apple is creating libs to work with many graphics cards acceleration for image processing. The demo was real time effects on video.
Supports ATI and NVideo (lib figures out if you have a useable graphics card, else it just uses the cpu)

Ultima 4 had ethical questions at the beginning the determined your first characters class.
I think this was in response to the repeated destroying of towns (or the same town over and over) in ultima1-3.

It looked like this but was black and had a smaller lcd (which was the style at the time) with a blazingly fast 486 processor...

I'm pretty sure Beos were the original filesystem = database os.. Of course Beos really is no more so...
Apple used to always beats MS to the punch.. It stopped for a while, but things seem to be returning to normal.
I think this has a lot to do with apples success at classifing mail using there mail application and expanding on that
