    Honestly, I think it'd be cool if somebody made it possible to type entirely by using mouse gestures.


    Take a look at Dasher

    the words just sort of flow in from the right of the screen and you pick the letter that you want... it makes guesses at what word you want next, and those letters appear bigger making it easier to catch them...
    it sounds strange but it's really amazingly easy to use.

    I've become quite anal about it, and words which most people consider perfectly fine are somehow "dirty" or "bad" to me and I never utter or even think them.

    This is where you're problem is ... not that you dont curse,
      although I consider cursing healthy enough,
      I agree that it should be used sparingly
    but to never ever use them and to think that they're dirty and bad is not healthy
    esp. if you think other peoples clean words are not clean...
    unless you ment other people thought fuck, shit, & asshole are clean words...

    The funny thing about the "island of stability" hypothesis is that the elements just need to be more stable, have slightly longer half lives.

    so element 111 has a half life of 3 seconds and element 114 has a half life of about 30 seconds because its one of the supposed "island of stability" or at least one of it's isotopes is.

    so any way, those half lives are short enough that if a 1000kg lump of the longest lived isotope of 114 was kicked out of the sun, say 3 billion years ago (94608000000000000 seconds)
    thats 3.1536E15 halflives
    I dont think there's going to be much left.
    After 10 half-lives there is 2^-10 (0.098%) left.

    so after 3 billion years our 1000kg would have 3.172e-14% left. or 0.00000003172g,

    expect that my maths is probably wrong,
    and there isn't any left at all...

    An example of just how hard it is to shoot down a large balloon can be found Here

    as far as I know (which is'nt too far) that balloon was a single large balloon, if it was made up of multiple cells it would last even longer. And you could allways try coating it in kevlar or some other resilient skin as Rei suggested.

    It's got gob loads of lifting power, so a little extra weight on armour and countermeasures would be ok.

    Balloons tend not to bounce back radar unless they have radar reflectors added to make them easier to find...

    they fired 1000 rounds in to the thing and it still took days to land...

    If I recall correctly, they had a pretty hard time finding it once they lost it in the first place, balloons just dont show up to well on radar with out reflectors added.

    Apparently "Deep Blue used a team of grandmasters to help prepare its opening book specifically against Kasparov" ...
    basicaly I'd say it's insane to compair deepblue to my PC playing a RTS game.
    I want an AI that is not insanely good, because it knows where all my buildings / troops are, I want a good AI, that plays the game fairly, and is able to beat me... with out cheating me... and that I can dumb down so that I can beat it with out it becoming a total retard,
    for example in a RTS I was playing once I had a choice of settings lets call them easy and hard.
    on easy the AI built randomly and did stupid things like sent one man at a time in to my defences and never used the massive amount of resources beside its base ... on hard it just killed you by rushing you at the start of the game... there was no reall inbetween. I want a challanging AI, not a super smart one or a dumb one.
    I want to play a FPS with bots that dont just head shot you the moment you come round the corner but also I dont want bots that run in circles and act like idiots ...

    now he never needs to talk out the trash, or other such things and gets to keep a "young" wife till he dies of heart strain or the robowife malfuntions and turns out to be a killer fembot...

    then we're all in trouble.

    or he could just by a RealDoll made up to look like his wife, I'm sure she'd be happy about that, she's get more sleep that way.

    off the top of my head ... if the earth was stationary and everthing else was moving round it, distant objects would need to be traveling faster than the speed of light. and would have crazy huge angular momentums... um...

    I'm sorry I dont understand this right now... perhapps there is more to the situation, but It looks like GoodGuy is possibly helping his friend do something illegal, which probably makes him OrganisedCrimeGuy,
    So he has the info on his machine and the cops think his friend is a terrorist, in this case for some random reason, but chances are they are investigating the friend because he's hiding drug money in an offshore account.

    Personaly I think that the use of the word piracy does'nt make it sound evil, because it's so common and people dont think of it as a crime... if anything it lessens the word piracy, which once was a scary word.

    Now when you say pirate I think of that guy in work who spends all day downloading movies, he's a harmless chap who every one likes, plus he's got that cool projector we can watch them on.
    Instead of a murderous dog, who'd slit your gizzard soon as look at you, take your booty and plunder your Family jewels. ARRRRH

    Dude ... super mario 3 was not a five hour game,

    it takes about 5 mins to get the first two warp wistles and get to the last zone. which can take a while to get through, but does'nt take five hours.
    all those other levels are just for messing round on.

    It was supposed to take 8 days with the 7th day being a day that you had to wait for the mix to settle before you added all the iceing (magic, decorations, etc.) and also cleaned up the mess on the 8th day, sadly it appears that that page was missing from the instructions that the big man used, and we get stuck with this second rate rush job of a world. We dont even have any snood, which aparently is only slightly harder to discover than fire!

    Personaly I dont know what got the jews through their terrable ordeals, maybe it was religion, maybe it was the fact that they are a people with strong famaly ties ... the fact I dont agrea with many things to do with Israel has nothing to do with the general plight of the jewish people, and also nothing to do with the thread in general.

    Unless of course there is more to the story like the guy was a total jerk... and really did'nt appreciate her, mistreated her, lied to her, sent her pictures to people on the internet... and not just faild to secure them correctly.

    on that note...
    Was'nt there a few small robots that demanded rights (in TNG) ... I think they where working in hazardous areas and kept comming back early because it was too dangerous ... and when they where forced to go they fought back, they could design and replicate tools for new jobs, by desiding what was needed themselves ...
    In the end the people had to give them rights to get any work out of them.

    also let us not forget the nanites that got left on some planet, to fend for themselves after they became intelligent, no mention of that ever again...

    but those nanites reproduced exponentially, so they'd have filled that world fast ... and then starved to death. sure they could have built solar power plants and other sources of power but if they could do that then whats to stop them making ships? and becoming a new threat ... I'm thinking that once they were off the ship, the site was nuked from orbit ... it's the only way to be sure.

    However any "Scrabble" clones are called scrabble.

    its the exact same game but the name cant be used.

    Why have we got all the product names in "inverted commas"?

    on a side note... what I'd really like to see this guy do is put up some thing on e-scrabble that has nothing to do with word games ... like a game were you're climbing a hill "Scrabbling" if you will ... while famous people throw C&D letters at you... there you go ... now you have a use of the name that does'nt not have anything to do with Scrabble the board game, and also is some sort of weak satire...
