    Well, the mouse is likely to be at the button or menu that the action was triggered from.
    Menus start on the left. Try File->Save As...

    "Most people are right-handed..."

    Most people read from left to right, too.
    So there is a slight conflict.

    What if you are left handed, tend to use the keyboard more, use a embedded/laptop pad or switched to mouse on the left because you messed up your right hand with years of mousing around with bad interfaces?

    Actually, you will be frustated even if you are right handed, because all web interfaces will remain with buttons from left to right.

    You are mostly correct about 1998 ...

    But excel and word documents may contain executable code. Are they blocked?

    I have seen many Windows viruses floating around since 1998. And the Windows admin always warns the windows crowd not to click or open the email that says "really important information". So there is still a problem. Judge from the spam coming from the infected Windows boxes, there is still a problem. Please tell us what Windows "feature" the viruses exploit.

    X.org uses a X/BSD style licencse without those new conditions.

    djbdns has not been accepted, because it's too non-standard. The main thing is the folders. He creates and uses a folders called /service, /command and /doc, instead of following any UNIX filesystem standard. I guess he is suggesting that we abandon /usr, /bin, /lib, and just throw everything at the root level.

    The reason given (other than being like Next buttons MS Wizard screens) for using Cancel-Ok instead of the Ok-Cancel was that we read from left to right in western countries.

    By that logic, shouldn't the Cancel button be at the top left, since we read from top to bottom?

    Our "left-to-right" reading is what makes Cancel-Ok so awkward.

    They cannot change the license for software they have already distributed unless the license lets them do so, or the license is not valid for this case.

    Unless they are using a modified GPL, they cannot "revoke" a license. The new software released could have a "everyone but SCO" license.

    If, however, SCO, by stating that the GPL is invalid, has disagreed to the terms of it, then the softwares authors can simply declare that SCO has no legitimate rights to use their software.

    Did anyone find the specification for this "caller id" system.

    Microsoft is motivated because about 99% of unreturnable spam now comes from infected Windows PC's.

    But I don't care what the motivation is. If we implement a system where we have a verified sender, this is good.

    But ...
    "X" is too short and ambiguous.
    "The X Window System" is too long.
    "X Window" implies a single window.

    X Windows.

    Plus, it verifies and uses "Windows" as a generic term for GUI.
