They don't use Steam in their games anymore than they use Wal-Mart in their games
Uhm, yes they are. Call of Duty: Black Ops (released a few days ago) is sold in stores as a DVD that installs steam and then installs the game as if purchased online via steam. This has been true for many titles before this one.
Basically, since users now has steam installed (and a steam account created) the barrier for further purchases over Steam has been lowered significantly.
I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I guess that's what they mean.
I never said it was devoid of costs, I said it was free (almost) for the patient.
The point is that even though is subsidized almost entirely by the state (oh no, commies!) it's STILL cheaper than the US medicare/medicaid per capita. The point was that the american system probably would spend less tax dollars by socializing it all.
In Sweden (and most of Scandinavia), health care is free (for you, except for maybe a $15 flat fee for non-emergencies). We also pay a lot less per capita than you do in the US.
So while it might not be free, it's certainly a lot cheaper.
Voddler released the full compilable source code when moving to the flash based platform. It's available right there on their site, but I guess it was to hard to find for you.

What your are talking about doesn't really sound like card processing, it seems you are using Direct Payment where you can pay using your bank account and some form of authentication (differs from bank to bank, but usually the same two or three factor auth you use for you online banking.
Now, at least my bank uses 3D Secure as well. The implementation differs between banks in Sweden. Some use only a text challenge/response while others use a two factor system where you need your cardreader as well. Works extremely well!
Even if that was true (which it is not), it's not the reason I switched to Google. My problem was that altavista snuck ads into the search results. Like adwords, but it would appear as search result #1. That - combined with the fact that Googles result were better and updated more often - didn't really make the choice all that difficult.
Spotify: So, we can release the source, right? Music Industry: Nope. That would reveal our ROT13 DRM. Spotify: But they'll figure that out eventually, why can't we j... Music Industry: Do you want to license our music or not?
On the other hand, my eyes head for the ceiling when the guy who has been there two weeks starts explaining the half dozen major changes we should make to the business. Spend six months learning how to do it my way you greenie! When you're fully trained on the job, I'll be interested in your opinions on how to improve it
A business guy who was involved with starting up Metro told me that when it comes to making good changes in organisations you have two weeks to learn the business, two weeks to come up with the changes and two weeks to implement them. Wait too long and you'll just end up being normalized to the same thinking as everyone else and nothing will be improved.
Not saying this can be said for everything, but your line of thinking represents a big problem when it actually comes to changing things.
The difference now is that the music industry could decide what you would watch on MTV. Ads only work if you are forced to watch them, so the popular music video X could be shown as long as the videos for new bands Y and Z were also shown while people were "waiting" for X.
As a general rule, it is always advisable to avoid barbequeing women and children who aren't involved in the fight if it's at all possible to do so. It's counterproductive and feeds the enemy's propaganda machine.
Try maximizing a window on a mac. Minimize a window, then alt-tab back to that app. You get the app, with no window! You then get the 'pleasure' of moving the mouse to the menu bar, selecting the window menu, and hopefully finding the window you wanted.
Then why are you using ALT-TAB? Because you did on Windows? Or on your Ubuntu install? ALT-TAB on Mac switches between applications, and not windows within an application. If you want to switch between windows, use Expose ("Show all windows").
Seriously, I was a Windows user for 15 years before I switched to Mac OS X, and I have had no problem adjusting to the new interface. The ALT-TAB behavior was perhaps the first one to go.
The US economy would be vastly better off if they received money from the IP they produced globally. The entire world watches our shows, movies, listens to our music, uses our software, plays our games, etc.
So would the rest of the world had been as well, had the newly founded country in the west paid royalties during their bootstrapping phase. The US economy has been helped a lot by not caring for other peoples IP.
Now I'm not saying that piracy is right (it isn't), but saying that piracy in Asia creates economical problems in the west has been crazy talk (up to now, since they'll own the economy soon) because they simply haven't had the money to pay for it. That's not a lost sale anyway.
...and the worst part is that there is really nothing you can do about it. Westernerns has gotten used to being at the top of the food chain. Not so anymore. Countries that some of us still consider as third world country will be doing the talking in a few years. And they'll outsource their cheap production to... Alabama?
Also, last time I went to med school, alcohol was actually got rid of in the liver (by use of an intermediary which is actually what creates the hangover).
Grocery stores find that it's cheaper to throw together a hack job...
That's because it probabaly IS cheaper, even in the long run, to have a few irritated customers a day and a minimum wage peon to reboot the machines. If you're an engineer living in the real world, cost tradeoffs should be a part of your reality as well. I work in a very technology oriented company, but even we have to realize and accept that building the Perfect Solution(tm) involves not only technology but economy as well.
Sounds like you've never had a clinically depressed relative or patient. There's nothing self-absorbed about it. Most people I've met who are depressed are pretty smart people and they can rationally understand that the feelings they have are way out of proportion but that's a small help when they feel that everything is just hopeless and nothing really gives them joy anymore.
I'm not trying to sound cold to the girl
You are. You're trying to apply rationality on a level far greater than the one at works when it comes to bad depressions.
If you're talking about being self-absorbed then perhaps you should start thinking about the fact that not everyone works just the way you do.
They are having one HELL of a time trying to clean up the mess they've created for themselves.
They are producing YOUR (as a group) food, toys, clothes and appliances because you are too greedy to accept anything but the lowest of lowest prices. So it's fair to say that you helped create this problem.

That's already fixed. Doesn't run as root and you now have the option of turning the P2P stuff off and on as you wish.
Voddler on Mac
And it is. The world has announced sternly how much the USA loathing rised during the Bush presidency.

Ladies and gentlemen, RIAA are the mafia of the 21th century.

And, it kills human beings.

BiCoreius perhaps? :)
Are there FBI avatars for "Starlet1992" as well? :)

You link it from Slashdot :)

I would think most slashdot men also aim for gold in the gyn-astics with high-scoring routines only to fail.

Radio waves pass through ME and it is (at least in Sweden) illegal to listen in on the communications e.g, old non-DECT wireless phones.
