We need to charge the companies for the unused or unseen IP addresses. If the addresses are unused or internal to the company then charge them $100 an address. Or let them put the unused ones back in circulation. We need to make it worth their while.
Every distribution is including Firefox 3 before its final release. RHEL is known for its stability and here it is including a beta or release candidate product. Firefox 3 RC1 (or Beta5) must be really solid.
Fedora and Ubuntu seem to be there. Ubuntu is April and October. Fedora is May and November. Those two have a well-publicized schedules and their releases are close to each other. I don't know about OpenSuSE but at least two out of the three big free distributions are pretty much in sync.
As many people have pointed out, violence is found everywhere. There have been religious people of all religions who have promoted violence. Atheists also have been violent. People have put the blame on religion, on politics, on nationalist pride, on you name it. People have promoted Utopian solutions. All have failed. The real problem is not with the government or with a group of people, or with a set of laws. Rather the real problem is that each and every one of us at our core are selfish self-absorbed self-centered bastards. We are the problem. We are at our core not good. The solution to the problem can not be found in us.
Is it incompetence that caused Microsoft not to get the protocol specifications documented? If that is the case Microsoft is in big trouble. Or they are illegally going slow. Either way Microsoft should be in big trouble. I think the judge needs to wake up.
"CoCoRaHS (the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network) is a unique, non-profit, community-based network of volunteers of all ages and backgrounds working together to measure and map precipitation (rain, hail and snow). By using low-cost measurement tools, stressing training and education, and utilizing an interactive Web-site, our aim is to provide the highest quality data for natural resource, education and research applications."
This is big and is part of a trend. Open standards are replacing proprietary protocols. Companies are starting to see the advantage of being open and not closed. I am happy to see this.

From the blog it looks like Sun is trying to own a complete web solution. The blog makes a big deal out of getting the 'M' in LAMP. I think they want to be known as the dot in.com again, the place to go for web solutions.
I read the book "The World is Flat" by Thomas Friedman. It describes what has happened in the last 20 years and how many different unavoidable events have converged to "flatten" the world (globalization). We tend to think that India and China have lowered prices on cheap goods. They see things differently. They want to compete with us at the high end. That is their goal and they are racing us to the top. He argues that American creativity can keep America on the top, but Americans need to be better educated and they need to be motivated. (It was a good book.)
Even simple life is very complex. I am always amazed at how complex simple life really is. Your questions are very good questions that need to be answered. They may not be easy questions to answer.
Marriage is about being a couple and joining your individual resources together. To the extent that happens is up to each couple. Each couple is unique and have their own ways of making that union successful. Problems arise when individual wants are taken at the expense of the union. Making a great marriage takes some work, but it is worth it. Don't let the wants of the "ME" destroy the "WE".
Yes, WE are the enemy. It is human nature to be selfish and grab more than we should. Pork barrel projects and the sense of entitlement all comes from our selfish human nature. The moneyed interests are doing the same selfish thing. They are looking to get more for their selfish selves. And same with corrupt politicians. They are selfish too and want more than they need or should have. A new political system that the grandparent suggested is not going to solve the problem.
'He seemed to be zeroing on criticisms that the Frontline proposal was simply a way for a new company to get a huge discount on a prime chunk of spectrum by playing the "public safety" card.'
Frontline's auction proposal, if accepted, will set some parameters. The spectrum will still go to the highest bidder. That may not be Frontline.
I did not really understand how complex and complicated the whole genome is. It is not a surprise then that I am a mess.

Neil Deakin almost missed his own wedding because of the rock slide. He had to take a float plane to get out of there.
There is another free codex that I heard was pretty good. BBC has the Dirac video format. Could this be an alternative?

Check out OpenEducationDisc and OpenDisc.

Here is a full feature open source Visualization package. Though not quite the same as Sage, there are other options out there.
Here is the article that goes with the image.
The Asus Eee PC is a sub-notebook with a better CPU and a minimum of 2GB of solid state disk space. Prices in the US start at $269.
From the article they are "aiming to beat $30 a GB". Not cheap! Figuring $30/GB, a 640GB drive would cost $19,200. So it is way out of my price range.
Check out who they are competing against.
I think it would be better to describe it as a "web desktop" and not a "web OS". There are plenty of "desktops" available on the web.

This person at InfoWorld thinks Microsoft must really be hurting for them to be saying these things.
They may not end up competing with Google, rather they may end up partnering with Google. Google has a lot of the apps available right now.
