Thanks guys for helping me make the descision.

KDE control center vs Gnome is like Classic Mode vs XP Mode in Microsoft.

But since I'm obviously a Geek. Posting on /. kinda prooves that. It really doesn't matter because I'm not the target audience for Gnome.

Originally designed by Dave Winer, Don Box, Bob Atkinson, and Mohsen Al-Ghosein in 1998 with backing from Microsoft (where Atkinson and Al-Ghosein worked at the time),

You can tell its Microsoft becaust the first part of the acronym is Simple, which SOAP is not.

Windows takes the safe approach of only updating libraries that are not in use. I'm sure you'd wind up with weird glitches if your apps were using multiple versions of GDI simultaneously. The Windows approach is "It may be ok to update this now, or it may not. Just to be safe, let's not update it until we can guarentee it's safe."

Funny, I thought COM objects contained version information so you could have multiple versions of an object and the applications are supposed to be smart enough to use the correct version.

Who says Gnome is better, Gnome developers? People who messed around with KDE 1.x and that awful orb they used?

Perhaps you should sit down with KDevelope and actually use it. Then you will find out for yourself. And it wont take very long either, unless you've never done any C++.
