Hmmm...I think I will patent Democracy. Then you can pay me one trillion dollars to remain a democracy, or become communists. Seriously though, you shouldn't be able to patent things like this that are so generic. If you come up with an original idea, but as if it took a lot of thought to come up with this!
Is there actually any need for this device? Is there a shortage of people who will work in these convenience stores? It seems like just another way for the rich to get richer and the poor to get fucked over and out.
What word would you rather use to sum up the government watching our every move? Like his book or not, George Orwell coined the term that explains this situation perfectly. Just like Joseph Heller's phrase Catch-22 means a paradoxical problem. Sometimes if the shoe fits, you just have to wear it
The thing is a lot of people don't realize how quickly these monthly charges add up. Tell them you want $200 the game, including services, and they will think that is way too much. Tell them it is 40 + 12.95 a month, which is pretty much the same price for a year, and they will think that is much more reasonable.
Is there some relationship here? This is the second article today with a shameless plug for them, not that I have a problem with NVIDIA, I just hope we are getting the real news, and not news that is adworthy

It was quite interesting that Linux was getting some good press from a PHB type magazine. Hopefully this will make it easier for the IT departments to make Linux a real option, since it is the perceived quality that gets a project going, and let's face it, a lot of managers are going to equate free with a lack of quality. My Favourite quote from one of the articles was
information technology executives say they are demanding that their technology providers have a comprehensive Linux strategy. Microsoft is the only major technology company without one
I do disagree with what they are saying though, MSFT does have a Linux Strategy, but there strategy is to obliterate it.
The article points out that they believe Orwell was wrong, for thinking that the government would be made more powerful by technology. I understand that maybe it is not always the Government that is gaining these powers, but possibly big corporations instead, but does it really matter? I don't really care if Big Brother is the government, or big business, the point is people are watching what we do, and how we do it. Maybe their intentions are not as malicious as those in 1984, but Big Brother is watching
At least when you pay a unix admin, you can be pretty sure you get someone who knows what they are doing. It is much harder to fake your way around a command prompt, then to keep clicking around a gui. The nice part is, the person with the command prompt understands what they did, so they can replicate it, if the problem arises again
So your not upset that you are a big fat ass? You should be And, no need to run away...I could kick the crap out of any fat ass any day...you would just be too tired to swing after 10 seconds
You are surely speaking from the mouth of someone who has never had to work oncall. Maybe in your fairy tale existence you got the perfect life, and the perfect job, but not all of us are as fortunate. Some of us do have to be on call, and it is a part of life. There is no reason to give up our entire life and live in a cave, as you would suggest, so not to offend over easily offended people such as yourself. Here is a suggestion, if YOU sit in your house, and rent movies from Blockbuster, you will not be interuppted. Why ask anything from others that you would not be willing to do yourself? I haget cell phones in movie theatres, but I do understand that some people have to be oncall.
PS Why would you brag about being the size of a football player? That might have intimidated people in the 80's or something, but is not scary at all now. I am 100 times more worried about if some guys has a guy then if the guy is big (not that I think violence is a good answer ever anyways!)

Acutally, broadband in Canada is much better too. It is cheaper then american broadband, and readily available in the populated areas. Not only that, but the government implemented a program to ensure that all libraries in the country have public access. Not only that, but some communites, like mine have implemented there own community networks, to ensure fast reliable connections.
Instead of buying abook, reading it, and then selling it for "only a few dollars", why don't you visit your library, check the book out and read it for nothing at all. If you really want to blow some money, I am sure they will except a donation even
Great, now you guys are using the slashdot effect to shut these guys down, playing right into the hands of the MPAA!

It seems all the people here are either so pro Star Wars that they are oblivous to anything that would make the movie less then pefect, or they are so sick of all the rabid Star Wars fans that they will say they hate it out of spite. I didn't think AOTC was too bad, at the same time, if it hadn't been for the original trilogy, I never would bothered to see it at all. I did find the first 2/3s of the movie extremely slow, whereas I enjoyed Spider Man the entire time.
The RIAA should start going after the people who are really hurting the music industry: All those Civic's driving around with the huge sound systems, that you can hear from blocks away!
I just wish that we had the original version of the speech. The one said "If there is not commercialization there, I will not be able to afford my new porsche, house and sugar baby girlfriend. Come on' guys, have a heart!"

Well, at least they know everyone who uses an MP3 player will cough up the money, I mean it's not like they would ever want to pirate something.

Getting a movie to fit into two minutes shouldn't be too dificult, since it has already been proven you can get five books into a trilogy
Oh...you meant watch the rerun channels. I was scared you meant watch those god awful shows on the CBC!

Given the cost of renting movies at Blockbuster, that deal doesn't sound too bad anyways, even if you end up using the first dvd as a frisbee
That's the point of the TDI...to run on diesel! Otherwise, get the 2.slow, it's the same car with a different engine
Actually, I am sure you mean 2.8 liters per 100 kilometers From a happy TDI owner
