Depends on your viewpoint. Slashdot users also tend to have very strong notions of right and wrong with low tolerance for anything deemed wrong.

Replies, even if informative and correct can be downmoderated if moderators detect even a hint of pedantic tone or the slightest "flame" even when directed at someone who is a complete idiot.

Forums like Fark and others offer a much more relaxed and less formal atmosphere because of their "immature" users, and if I'm> going to spend a lot of time on a forum, I sure as hell want to be able to let go once in a while without being endlessly chided for being anything less than an academic/dry/boring poster.

I sat there, stylus in hand, wondering if the grim visage greeting my own was there to offer me more drugs, train my brain, or steal my soul. I reluctantly pressed the start button, and then the horror began. Numbers, symbols, some unholy language. What did it all mean? I had to get to the bottom of the mystery that was rapidly sucking the vitality from my already wizened exterior.

Before I knew it, I was naked in the street, shouting about demon doctors and magical mushrooms. The plumber, THE FIREBALLS OF ETERNAL DAMNATION.

Then it occured to me: When the nurse came with my daily dose of anti-psychotics, I had tried to swallow her and thank the friendly pills for my daily dose of nuturing.

  12. Letdown. on Wii to Launch Nov. 19th for $250 · · Score: 3, Funny

I'll admit, I bought into the hype.

I let all of the pre-coverage get me to expect either a release date earlier than 1 month before Christmas, or a price closer to $200.

$250 and late November is kind of a letdown.

The most irritating fact? $5-$10 virtual console games. What with the price of ram back in the day, it sounds like they'll be making around a dollar for dollar profit margin that they were in the 90s. If you convert it to % profit margins and consider the fact that bandwidth costs are minimal, they're making a profit margin in the hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of percents.

This single set of facts has turned me from eager to get a Wii into more of a wait and see approach.

    Oh well.
