  1. Re:But why??? on George Lucas May Be Completely Evil · · Score: 0

"If he blows it and introduces something new and corny I'll just watch my older VHS copy of the episode, no harm done. If he pulls a rabbit out of the hat and adds more depth, or better effects, or ties the story together better I'll eat it up."

I am along the same lines as you on your post except for the fact that previous versions of Star Wars are no longer available when the new stuff comes out.

I wish I had the older VHS tapes from the undoctored episode IV-VI but the fact is that I don't. What about people that had it but they are damaged or lost or something? Then those cannot be replaced and we are forced to watch the crap that Lucas is adding.

In my opinion Lucas had not added a single thing to Star Wars to make it better. All of the re-releases did not add one bit of good to any of the movies. At best the new material did not detract from the originals.

I wish Star Wars could be ripped from Lucas. I wish it were in more capable hands. But at the very least I wish that I could go to a store and purchase an untainted set of Star Wars tapes. It is bad enough that all this utter crap is being injected into something I liked so much, but not having a choice of which version I get just sucks.

It means that the probability has increased that all those yokels in pick-ups who claim to have been anally probed by aliens were lying. They will most like change their story to 'farm accident' if you question them too much, but thanks to science we are one step closer to the truth on this matter.

Then children who grow up to buy there own computers will know Windows and that is what they will want. Oh, I get it. Building repeat customers by not giving people a choice.

Maybe what I don't get is how they have done this all before with system manufacturers. No, I understood that too when that happened.

This is an old trick. But I look forward to the new and innovative ways for MS to show that, when it comes to marketing, they are assholes.

That is what console companies do. Usually they have plans to work on these next gen consoles as soon as the previous one gets released. Then it takes sveral years of work to get a console out. But the next gens from Nintendo and Sony are actually being pushed back a year from their first projection. Why? Because they are not scared of x-box. That's right, considering the global market, not even Nintendo is scared of x-box. MS is a joke in foreign countries and that is apparent in its sales. So as much as it seems that Sony is rushing out another console, they were projected to push it out a year earlier than forcasted now.

Hey, screw you moderator. I am not trying to troll. I think I make a pretty valid point. But I guess anything that opposes what is popular among the /. community will be burned to the ground. Is that what /. is? A popularity forum. That's right, popularity effects everything. And I think people who make claims about deep space astronomy past what they can actually see and call them the truth are hacks. But it is not popular here to disagree with published science.

So screw you, calling this a troll when it is mearly a different way of looking at it is biased. The least you could have done was call it off topic which you may have been able to defend!

Before I get into this I just want to say that I am a Christian that does not think God and the big bang are mutually exclusive. I think people are narrow minded (both clergy and athiest) and use this as a way to argue with eachother.

That being said, what can we actually believe about what scientists say about the universe based on these pictures. It kind of sucks that they whole heartedly believe their theories and come out wrong a lot of times.

I think that most of their thoughts such as, there are many galaxies and they move around are true, but all this stuff about the expansion of the universe accelerating and the existence of dark energy. Heck, even the big bang theory is just a way to explain what they can't explain, yet they take it as a truth to build more theories.

It all sounds great, but pictures of entire galaxies when we can't see what is actually happening in small sections of that galaxy is not going to yield the most accurate data for the way things are in the universe. Maybe I just wish they would stop calling themselves right when so many before them have been wrong. (Maybe they would lose funding if they did that.)

I hope they continue to look and to try, but until they have better resolution than an entire nebula, it is hard for me to let go of the good probability that their theories are just science fiction.

I would not be surprised if UT did sue considering what it does to its own students. Our organizations are not allowed to use the words "University of Texas," "Texas" in a certain font, the color burnt orange, semblences to the Bevo head, and that was the list when I got tired of trying things for a T-shirt I was making for my organization. One that is directly affiliated with the University.

It seems that the licenses for this stuff for affiliated organizations to use them run around $10,000. So I say sue away. Who knew something good might come of the University being pricks about trademark.

But then again, considering UT has a sweet deal with MS that gives all students licences to any MS home use product for $5 a cd, they might already be in bed together.

I hope it does not come true but I would never trust Hollywood to get anything right. Side note: People who are trying to relate this to minority or nerd plight... forget about it. This movie is eye candy and people are more interested in blood than plight. Anyone who uses this as an example of "the way things are" has no idea of what plight is about. If this movie "opens your eyes" then you probably don't get away from your machine too much.
