Exactly, if Orwell hadn't written his book, we very well might have seen Orwells vision earlier. 1984 scared some people, and it made some more vigilant. However, if you look at the way things are going all 1984 has done is gotten us a bit past that actual year, but that's still the direction we are headed. It's just takeing longer because people are aware of the idea and not everyone likes it.

I dunno if that made sense, maybe I should go back to eating my lunch now so my blood sugar goes back to normal before posting any more ;)

And then it's generally too late.

While you are absolutly right about it being too late once you've done it, that works both ways. The war on drugs has been going on for decades now, I still remember being in elementary school and being forced to watch asinine Nancy Reagan videos that told kids to just say no, and turn in your parents if they use drugs. More of an attempt at brainwashing than education. We've seen the war on drugs do more harm than good for at least 20 years, isn't it time to step back and reevaluate what we are doing? It's already too late to reverse damage that has been done, but it's not too late to change our minds.

With prohibition we took something that was legal and made it illegal, then when we realized what a big mistake we had made we changed the laws back. Why is it so hard to do the same thing in other cases? Why not TRY out legalizing certain drugs? You can regulate it all you want, tax it all you want etc. You can still punish people smuggling drugs into the country, and you can still punish people selling "bad" drugs, but at the same time you are going to make the entire drug market much less profitable for dealers etc. Why would anyone that's looking to get high get thier high from an illegal source when a legal one is available?

The truth of the matter is we'll never know unless we try, and with the current political mindset of our nation I don't see that happening any time soon.

I've been running NWN for about 30-40 hours since it came out and I'd wait for another patch or two before using it as a benchmark of everything. The game runs beautifully at 1600x1200 with the highest anti aliasing settings I can use on a GeForce 3, and athlon xp 1800 system. For about an hour that is. After about an hour the game just starts to get choppier and choppier and choppier. After the game had been running for about 7 hours last night (to preserve the multiplayer settings on the server due to a multiplayer save issue, not because I sat there for 7 hours straight) the game was so choppy I got motion sick. Restarting the game put it back to it's normal beautifully rendered self though.

Put your account on ebay (including a possible 5 characters on each server) and sell the whole package. Asheron's Call already is setup this way and it doesn't stop anyone from selling anything. There does seem to be one beneficial part to the selling and tradeing of accounts. You end up with people that haven't earned thier levels or equiptment and don't have a clue how to effectivly use them. They get bored quickly and leave the game in many cases which in turn reduces the number of high level characters.

Then there's AO which also had great people, and great potential, but was ruined by a worse release than this EQ expansion (though not by much). I played that till the free game expired and they tried to bill me. There was no way in hell I was paying for more beta software, and I would love to get the $50 bucks back I paid for the box.

DAoC had a great release, but it really seems like Dark Age of Everquest so it didn't appeal to me for long. The world is quite small and it feels like they made up for it by makeing everything slow. It's still a good game, and I know a lot of people like like it, but it hasn't been able to hold my attention... I think maybe I'll renew it now that the msn gameing zone is moving thier accounts over to .NET Passports, which I don't want.

I would also comment on WWII Online, but everyone I know hated the release (worse than AO?) becaues it was mostly unplayable so I didn't waste my money.
