Counter-intuitive GUIs, definitely. Office '11 has improved over previous ones, but it's still not 100% native. Bonus for using the built-in media browser. There also seem to be some PPC-only apps (not the core ones, fortunately) left in the package, which is going to fuck things up when Lion is out (Apple are killing Rosetta).
Fixing printer drivers is what's made me the most money while helping friends, actually. It's always the printer or the wi-fi when it isn't a malware infection.
Apple don't even need you to fax anything nowadays. Everything can be filled in on iTunes Connect. RIM's process is ridiculous by comparison.
Requiring VMWare? Installing an ISO from an installer, THEN requiring you to install that in the VM? What the hell? Android's SDK, which is about one download more complicated than Apple's (in other words, not very complicated) gets you a simulator/emulator right there in the IDE. Why couldn't RIM look at a working setup like that for inspiration?
The Android marketplace is supposed to be available for use as a merchant in a selection of countries, including mine. But that needs a Google Checkout account. I just went to sign up for that (again), and it still gives me a choice of "United Kingdom" or "United States". Not sure what's up with that, but it seems like they still don't allow most of the world to sell on their marketplace.
Did not. It's just that offline (non-registered) saves in one directory and GFWL in another. There's no cloud-saving unless the game specifically provides something of its own.
Steam, on the other hand, does have proper cloud saving. SteamPlay games let you pick up where you left off on OS X or Windows, but there's still an offline version of the savestate.
The Simpsons improved in the past 2+ seasons, in my opinion. The most recent episode was hilarious - Smithers and Moe remake the bar as a"gentleman's club":)
The show had long been too kid-friendly, but the writers are back in shape. Full of references the kids won't get, and generally not subject matter for pre-teen prime time.
The networks need to make more worldwide simultaneous releases, and legal digital distribution MUST become a part of their offering. HBO are doing well with their upcoming series - A Song of Ice and Fire is coming to most regions around the second half of April. Then again, they probably need to since they spent £30 million on it:)
Just add the option to download some high quality episodes for a reasonable fee. I'd settle for 720p, about 2 gigs or so per hour, in at least some H.264 variant. Pretty please?
Amiga viruses were awesome. I learned a lot from disassembling, reassembling and improving them.
The coolest part was how easy it was to have programs survive reboot. I made some rudimentary programs which used these techniques to slip in before the harmful programs, and more professional anti-virus existed which did this too. My simple tools never had a fancy menu system, though!
At least a reboot actually stops the malware running nowadaysright? Or do the old warm reboot techniques still work on a modern PC? I remember QEMM used that, back when shaving a few kilobytes off your RAM usage was serious business:)
Yeah, the 3" screens are a tad cramped. They'll have to come up with some alternate gestures, but it's more likely they'll keep the Home button on the smaller devices.
My dad has reduced mobility in several fingers due to a knife injury (shoulda seen the fish!). He simply can't do the 4+ finger gestures with his active hand. Yes, even the four-finger swipe to switch tasks is tricky, due to the bad fingers being permanently curled up. Attempts at making him switch hand for Guitar Hero/Rock Band have not been successful, so I doubt he could switch hands for an iPad. Losing the functionality of the Home button would be a bad thing - hopefully it will be on some button somehow. Or at least a simple button in the UI to list tasks and all that should be available.
Crash logs is actually not a bad suggestion. Apple do it for iOS apps, but they are uploaded when synced with desktop iTunes. Developers can then inspect them in iTunes Connect.
Well, you could say the $300 investment in food also pays off. Try a month and a half without food and see if you can't see the long-term benefits of the investment;)
Defacer is great, and it automatically removes (part of the) button clutter. For some added Google protection, there's also this: http://www.orbicule.com/incognito/
I'm not sure if Top Sites in Safari load all scripts, but at the very least it loads images, which are also used for tracking, therefore Defacer is probably not enough.
UPS hasn't caused quite the horror stories mentioned by others for me, but they frequently fail to find my door and leave a card (at the door or in the mailbox).
USPS have been really quick at delivering stuff when I order from the US - and I'm in Europe. Still amazed at the 3.5 days total shipping time for one order, and about 6 days is the average. The postal service is nowhere near as bad as the stereotype says!
I'm not getting the blinding fast response time shown in the article at all:(
Google looks up my country via geo-location and feeds me a localised version (tested via the curl method in the article). This takes 0.9 seconds for me. If I directly specify google.co.uk or some other variation, I get a more reasonable 0.3 seconds. But never 85ms. Is the author sitting on a really awesome connection at work?;)

From an article on the new release:

I'm not sure I like that look even on Windows. Looks like somebody gutted a GUI builder all over it.
My provider supports 160 characters. Twitter is already not conforming to the SMS standard I've been using for years.

Whole Blu-Ray discs, minus the DRM, are available Out There. Far easier than trying to get some setups with HDCP to agree.
Also, this leaves more time to debug for the many different Android models ;)
I don't think BUYING is the problem.

The chipset is also used in laptops, according to the various articles out there. Make that an ExpressCard or something :P
Not odd. Honest.
Which IS odd these days!
For the past year and a half I've been getting mod points as soon as the previous bunch expired. It's bordering on annoying :)
Steam uses WebKit now, so no problem there. MS products are of course always at risk while there are vulnerabilities in the IE engine.
Star Wars is what some call "space opera". If that's a positive or a negative is up to each individual to decide :)

Yeah, what part? EVERY Mac user who needs more formats simply installs Perian. I have yet to find anything incompatible.
You can install any of the apps on any system linked to your MAS account. It's cheaper than a family pack.

Wouldn't that be a lovely side-effect? Keep the population under control AND kill them off sooner!
