  1. Re:how about on HDTV PC Capture Solutions? · · Score: 1

Since no one can seem to follow the link HD-3000 I will paste the relevent portion here:

Q: Will the HD-3000 let me watch HD cable?

A: Shortly yes, but right now no. pcHDTV has the micro code that is used
for decode cable signals. This is what prevented the HD-2000 from
allowing users to watch HD cable - the HD-2000 card does support QAM,
but pcHDTV was not able to get the micro code, but this still could
happen, but don't hold your breath. -- Someone could /guess/ the micro
code but good luck because you'll need it.

Also, just because you can decode the HD cable does not mean you can
watch it. You can only watch unencrypted cable. If cable providers
decide to encrypt signals and then sell special set top boxes that know
how to decrypt that signal you'll not be able to watch it with the
HD-3000 card. Whether your cable provider sends plan old QAM or
encrypted QAM varries greatly. Call your cable provider to know for
sure (But be aware that the customer service person may just tell you
yes because that's what they would assume...) Also, only some channels
could be encrypted and others may not be.

In some markets you could have 0% encrypted, in others it could be 100%.
Nation wide it's around 70% not 30% is from people I have spoken with.

As for when the HD-3000 card will have QAM support, my personal
guess (And it is a guess) would be 1-2 months.

I do. When my dog chewed up my Nokia from Cingular, I was told I would have to buy a new phone for $129.00 just to get the same features as the freebie phone I had (color screen, don't need a camera). I found my new phone on ebay, it just happens to be an Ericsson and it has bluetooth as that was my main requirement. I also had to get an unlocked phone from Europe because all the bluetooth phones in the USA are > $250.00. I paid $60.00 after shipping and it came with the pc cable and a free wired headset.

When cleaning spyware/adware I use a combination of running Ad-aware, then Spybot, then HijackThis and finally manually browsing the HKLM\Run & RunServices keys to make sure everything is gone. If the user show signs of agression and being fed up with the spyware and popups I will "casually" mention Firefox or Opera and that I do not have problems like that. If the user asks for more information I will install an alternative browser.

I just got finished fixing an employees home computer because WindowsME (ugh..) would show the splash screen and then reboot. Start the computer in safe mode? Nope, it would get to loading the desktop and then blue screen (windows protection error, please blah blah blah).
Anyways once I got the the pc running I ran Ad-aware and it found ~70 or so items and removed them, however I had to remove one file that Norton Anti-Virus detected, that ad-aware missed, in the windows folder and I noticed an explorer.001 file. I renamed .001 to .exe and rebooted, I re-ran ad-aware and it found an additional ~200 spyware items that it could not find the first time!

NOTE: Ad-aware does not check the c:\recycled folder for spyware, however Nortion Anti-virus does...

My car looked nothing like the car driven by the person commiting the crime, it was not even the same color, but that did not stop the police from giving me a heart attack (not literally but, it sure felt like it). Of course, once I identifed myself I was let go. But because of this one incedent, the only time I have been pulled over, I now start sweating profusely, shaking, and turn white around any type of state or local law inforcement.
