For a number of years I've wanted a slashdot greasemonkey extension called something like "slashback" which would restrict all comments to people with UID lower than your own, thus returning slashdot to the same user community that got you to sign up in the first place.
So that's what's happening here - for a moment there I thought I had started hearing voices in my head... AGAIN!
How many of the games you acquire come on physical media these days?
All of them, except for "Strong Bad's Cool Game For Attractive People" (which is from Telltale Games who always have an offer to get the retail box when it's released just for shipping costs), and "DROD RPG: Tendry's Tale", which doesn't have a physical box just yet (but it's predecessor "DROD: The City Beneath" also had the option to get the regular box when it came out with the price of the download deducted from the price of the box).
What if the original poster has an high definition display which doesn't have HDMI inputs (many such "HD ready" TV sets were sold before HDMI was standardised a couple of years go)?
Well, they're shafted of course. But you don't honestly think the industry cares one bit about that, do you?
(Neither do I, TBH... it's not as if it wasn't obvious that such a stunt was going to come up - if you have to be an early adopter, be prepared to get shafted... HD DVD, anyone?)
np: The Notwist - Gloomy Planets (The Devil, You + Me)
Yes, they made it more appealing for the customer to get pirated movies now.
Looks more like they made it more appealing to get an HDMI cable (which costs around 5 EUR for 2-3 meters) - upconverting to 1080i works fine on my LG DVD recorder via HDMI. Plus there's no hassle with having to juggle multiple cables...
If GTA IV works on the PS3, why can't the PC version handle a PlayStation-like gamepad?
Because, let's face it, the only way to play GTA on a PC ever since GTA III is using keyboard and mouse.
I've got an XBox 360 controller right here, but I would never consider using it for a shooter like GTA - autoaiming is just lame. And it's not like there's many racing missions in it that would somehow get much easier with a gamepad...
Prince of Persia, Mirror's Edge or Trackmania United, on the other hand, are great for use with the controller, though.
Damn, man.. Yet another patch and yet again it manages to screw something up?! We're either talking some major bad luck or an assinine QC.
Nah, it's just stupid submitters and ignorant editors all over again - the "issue" that's linked in the summary was actually caused by the first patch and is now fixed in the second one:
LOOK / SPIN / STUCK KEY ISSUES
The issue has been fixed in the latest Title Update 1.0.2.0. However, with Title Update 1.0.1.0, some users are experiencing a Look/Spin/"Stuck Key" issue that interferes with user input.
np: Frivolous - Forget The Funk (Midnight Black Indulgence)
What I'm most scared of is that they'll try to match the voice acting of the English version, instead of trying to get the tone and attitude of the Japanese version. Voice acting makes a huge difference to the overall feel of the character.
Right - and trying to do the tone and attitude of the Japanese voice cast 1:1 in English doesn't sound weird at all?

I think Prince of Persia uses a LOT of the same stuff as Assassin's Creed. It's the same game engine isn't it?
That, and there's that Assassin's Creed model for the prince that you can choose in the extras menu after you type in the pre-order code you googled off the internet...
Next question?
American English or British English?
Yes.

It has a plan!!
And there are many copies! (For sale, that is...)

I'm no Kernel Hacker, but I'll pick up one to play around with.
Careful there! Some of those Kernel Hackers really dislike being played around with...

I prefer this, actually - there's no sweeter justice than a set of balls crushing a convicted banker's head.
Just kidding, of course...
