As of 2.9 I believe that it shares the ports collection with FreeBSD too.

I am not sure this is right. The number of ports increased in 2.9 and the ports originally came from FreeBSD (way back) but I am pretty sure that OpenBSD doesn't simply share the FreeBSD ports tree.

I had better luck with mozilla/NS6 on administering the BEFSR41. I found that you could get it into a hung state with netscape 4.7x, so I only administer the device using mozilla now.

You can still experiment if you get a dedicated router. I previously used linux based NAT on an old P133; the linksys is simply way easier. Now I keep the old P133 around as an openbsd web server (port 80 exposed) and for nfs serving (internal network only).

Another thing I found was that by using the router , it was relatively easy to switch from Cable (Rogers@home) to DSL (DSL.ca). PPPoE in hardware? Great! It wasn't quite "unplug and change a few numbers in a web page", but it was close.

I liked this movie because I was a high school exchange student in this tiny little town, way back in the late 1980s. It was genuine and warmm and so is the movie. One problem is that I had heard many conflicting approximations of the "Story" while living there. I was very excited to hear about a movie version, so that I might actually know what happened. After seeing the movie opening at Toronto last summer, I'm not sure that I understand I really know what went on either!

  15. F1 Visa Notes on Work Options In The U.S. When Student Visas Expire? · · Score: 4
I looked into getting a 12 month "optional training visa" following my F1 status visa in the US. From the Cornell International Students web page:

    Eligibility Requirements
    • Students must have been in valid F-1 status at least 9 consecutive months.
    • The employment must be directly related to your major area of study, and must be equivalent with your educational level.
    • The maximum amount of time granted to work in F-1 practical training status will be 12 months.
    • You may change jobs during the 12 months.

The problems with it were that ISSO takes 3 months or more to process the forms, and you really need to submit 3-4 months in advance of graduation. And then there were potential problems leaving the country in between. Since I was Canadian, I looked into getting a TN (NAFTA) visa. Much simpler. You just need a letter offering employment, $56, proof of education, and a profession on the approved list. It took fifteen minutes to get the visa, but make sure your appointment letter says the exact same job title as the jobs list (e.g. Computer Systems Analyst, Engineer, Mathematician, Scientific technician/technologist, Technical publications writer, Astronomer, Biochemist, Biologist, Geneticist, Physicist). The disadvantages to the TN visa
    • Limited to 12 months, but renewable
    • Job title must match TN job list
    • Not supposed to apply for Green card while TN status
    • Only available to Canadians or Mexicans (but I don't know if the Mexican rules differ).

Garbus: Do you know what a DVD burner is?
Valenti: I'm not sure -- I've heard the term, but I really don't know what it means.

I'll wager that they don't drop RPN -- they've already gone to great lengths to make infix users feel comfortable. As a concession to the infix (1 + 2) TI crowd, in the last hp calc (the 49g) RPN could be buried in a way so that you didn't have to see it if you didn't want to. But the calc was still RPN (1 2 +) underneath, or else the core hp fans would have gone nuts. Many people have reservations about RPN because they learned infix notation first. RPN is fast and natural, but switching is weird. But pretty much everyone who uses RPN had to switch from infix notation, and it's not very hard. Knowing RPN can also come in handy when learning new computer languages (like postscript).

HP decided early on that "RPN-vs-infix" debates are difficult to win, so the HP's since the 28s (maybe earlier) have included full algebraic (infix) notation support. You can always type
    '1+(2+4*SIN(3.14))^2'
