I should be able, in this era of free trade, to go and buy my equipment where I can get the lowest price. If I can not do that, than the multinational corporations should not be able to shop for the lowest labor rates. Free trade should be free for BOTH the production and consumption sides to work.
That and I want to be able to bring back cheap tequila from Mexico when I go:)
From what I understand, the moment you put in your credits, until you tell it to spin, a random number generator spits out numbers. Whatever you stop it at is what you get.
What I don't understand is, how my wife can be several times better than I at this.
I would be more apt to agree with an article stating that those allowed on the net should first pass a basic intelligence test which would also test peoples ability to spot sarcasm and wit. If you fail, give us back your AOL CD!
About 2 years ago I got 15 (brand "X") laptops to install for my users. Of those, 7 had to go to get repaired right out of the box. They had never been tested because they failed instantly and had to have motherboards replaced.
It took two years for my employer to change to another vendor. Eventually, people will not put up with it and it will improve as companies lose market share.
You have a very good point. If they were aligned to the north, and were prefectly square, would they not also be aligned east, south and west? Who says that they were not aligned with east and west, in deference to Ra? That theory would fit much nicer into their culture.

Of course, then people who don't have bank cards can't vote there.
1) security: Very difficult to have an audit on a system such as this.
2) States Rights: Some states may adopt a system such as this, but remember even votes for Federal positions are state votes. Systems decisions are made on the state or local level, not on the federal level.
3) Cost: Most states won't shell out the bucks to put in a system like this. There are a lot of polling places in the US.
But the point is well taken: Someone should invent a better mousetrap.
I showed up to vote, as usual, at 6:10am. The lines were very long. During our September primary (statewide offices in Arizona) I was the fifth person to vote. Today, I was 67. The polls had been open since 6am. Looks like there will be a lot of people.
If you are in the US and registered, get out and vote for candidates and ballot propositions that you care about. Remember, the world is run by those who show up!

I was quite sad to see Netware 3.x go out of production this month. Novell won't carry it anymore. Sure it lacks NDS, but it was a fast, easy solution to offices that needed a small fast, closed network solution. It was easily installed and configured.
I had to do this when Qwest slammed me (from AT&T) so that they must get you on the line with the local carrier in order to change the line. USWorst provides this for free, and I have had no troubles since.
Of course, they were just bought by Qwest, and I am assuming that they will do it again.
The larger UPC's with 2 sets of numbers contain the company in the first numbers, and the specific product in the second. I thought, though I could be very wrong, that the first was assigned and the second was up to the producer. I don't know of what standards body assigns the first numbers, if that is in fact what happens.
I imagine this will be a great topic for psychotherapists in 20 years:
Doctor: And you are afraid of purple? Patient: Yes, for years, every time I see a person in purple, the voices say 'Peek-a-boo'. I think it means I must kill.
I've rebooted a friends dsl router\modem because he had left it without a password. It came from his ISP that way and he hadn't put a password on it. I did it to get his attention that it was dangerous. Of course, I called him in a few minutes to tell him why his connection to the net was bouncing.
" Tulsa and Oklahoma are seeking a $320,000 grant from the EPA to further the wetland research, Nairn said." -- From article
A grant application for beer. Amazing, I wish I would have thought about that when I was in college.
My wife will shout this at me when I am cooking, only if she wants to know what I am doing. I don't share my secrets :)
I wish I hadn't thrown away the 7 Robotron carts for the Vic 20 I had. I would have given them to you.
The guy I got them from would only sell me one if I agreed to take them all........

This is the way the world is. Get used to it. Expect when you get out into the "Real World" that your first job will probably be as bad, if not worse.

"You have to cook good food fast!"
Maybe they should put them up against Waffle House Cooks. I bet they couldn't top hash browns that are 'scattered, smothered and covered."

Every user I support that hears about this will email me the details. Just what I needed today. These cause me more grief than the actual virus.
I need a new job.

.... or maybe some sort of geek shrine or museum. I hope whoever gets it keeps them going in the quest for the new.

``We don't comment on rumors,'' said IBM spokeswoman Carol Makovich.
``Typically we don't comment on these kinds of rumors,'' said a Novell spokeswoman.
What a story! Someone starts a rumor, then reports it by asking the companies about the rumors.
Of course, they didn't deny it, either.
What kind of ads would they put in alt.sex.hello-kitty? This I gotta see :)

Just what the net needed. More servers to be used by script kiddies as launching points for DoS attacks. How many geeks work for the Navy?
Geez, what do they think they are? UCSB or Stanford?
i must agree, much like the questions that were asked a couple of days ago about breaking up Microsoft. Very biased.
Also, didn't Microsoft say that they weren't going to release a service pack for Win2K? How then, can they fix this?
I loved the cartoon, I only hope the live action can do it justice.
Where did the cartoon get relegated to anyway? I haven't seen it in a long time on TV.
