    That was to a country who initiated a war with the US with an unprovoked attack on a naval base.

    You can argue whether bombing a city is a fair thing to do in war, but at the time it was hardly unheard of. Germany had been bombing London for years at that point, after all.

    You can also argue that Bin Laden (who is a millionaire and had never, ever suffered any trouble from the US) was provoked by US foreign policy. I'd think you'd have a much harder case than those defending an action taken in war.

    The phone number isn't being used to identify an individual. It's being used to identify the type of hardware connecting to the network. If someone asks me for a phone number and I give them yours, how exactly have I stolen your identity?

    Given the way the voting system works, it is basically impossible to elect anyone to a Federal office that was not at one time associated with either the Republican or Democratic party. There are basically zero Congressmen who were elected as independants, regardless of what they profess to be now.

    There are actually laws regarding providing equal access to media and to the way national debates are organized. All these laws preclude 3rd parties getting any real exposure. If these laws were not sufficient, additional laws would be enacted.

    The Republicans and Democrats are in control. Do not fool yourself by believing they have left any way to lose control.

    It's not a dispute over copyright violations. It's a dispute over civil rights. If I recall correctly, there was a war faught on this continent over the same kind of thing. I think it's referred to as the American Revolution, or something silly like that.

    Case in point:

    Most children of Orthodox Jews start drinking alcohol (usually just wine) as early as the parents feel comfortable. This can be as young as 9 or 10. I know of no statistics which indicate that Orthodox Jewish teens are more prone to excessive drunkeness than any other segment of the population.

    Killing someone with a motor vehicle while driving drunk should be considered premeditated murder. The possibility of being thrown in jail for life is about the best deterrent that most State laws will allow.

    Personally, I believe drunk drivers who kill should be run over by a steam roller. Slowly.

    Contributors can simply choose whichever fork they themselves prefer. Both forks have the same license on the code, thus they can co-opt any contributions made to the competing fork. The developers who started the new fork have already basically signed up to do this, else the fork would be private. The developers of the original sound like idiots who don't care anyway.

    Similarly, users who hate the original may find the new fork and like it. Those who don't won't be missing anything.

    And I think you have it backwards. The fork is to remove the feature everyone hates, not put it back.

    The only reason this is news at all is that it presents clear evidence that MS applications DO get special consideration and so any legal arguments that the OS and app divisions are somehow seperate (and so not leveraging their monopoly) are full of crap. You are full of crap. Actually, you are crap. This glitch could have been found with any number of 3rd-party applications that MS tests their updates with. It just happens to be that it was an MS app. It in no way implies that 3rd-party applications were not tested. You are just so blinded by the crap covering your eyes that you have to lash out.

    This is simply not true. If the fee was raised to $5, the cost to registrees would go up at least $4.80. Remember, the $0.20 currently goes to ICANN, not the registrars. If the costs to the registrars goes up, the cost to the registrees will go up as well.

    One of the two laptops I owned previous to a Macbook had the power connector break off the motherboard. And this from completely normal use. Never had it pulled off a table or desk. Never dropped it. Just having it plugged in was enough to cause it to snap.

    I also don't say that I believe the Sun will rise tomorrow. I know it will. I understand that someone who has no faith in the world cannot understand, but to someone who is religious, the words "I believe" are implied and almost never need be said.
