This is whats called viral marketing. Whether this story happened or not is not the pointof the article. The point is to get people to read about Winblows Live Care. Well played, Microsoft.
I didnt read the article but from that quote it seems as though he's saying Blu-Ray compatability is a great feature we'd want in a gaming console. Why do I want that? If 8 gigs(DVD-DL) and a hard drive(xboxes and the new ps3) is not enough storage for your game there is a bigger problem afoot. Not only is your console price too high, but your games have really low replay value with all that space taken up by cheesy effects, videos, and super hi-res textures. Just think of a way around it.
Look I didnt read thge article, but I read the post about it here on Slashdot. I lived with 5 guys from Thailand and they couldnt pronounce 'Will'. But they could pronouce the W, just not the ll'. In fact, it came out sounding like 'Wiww'. Even more W's!. Japanese people cant pronounce W's or E's? Its essentially 'Wee', right? Can they pronounce Wakizashi? So I dont get that.
And last time I checked, all names are marketing gimmicks. I thought we all walked around knowing that. Ive seen countless articles and comments about this. Mission accomplished, Nintendo. Your marketing guys probably deserve their exorbitant salaries now. I hope the console lives up to all the talk. Also, I dont know Japanese, but I believe I heard about some point pictograms have a relation to words in Japanese. That makes the Wii/Controller/Multiplayer concept somewhat Japanese in its thinking. I applaud them for an original name for a product as well, instead of the cheesy techno names like the Playstation or the XBox. What tired thinking.
Finally, how dumb an idea would it be to call a product the revolution if for whatever reason it ended up sucking? It would be an even bigger disaster.
Even if its a few inches, in a crowded mall, couldnt somoene walk right up behind someone and scan the rfid card in their wallet, in their back pocket?
RFID would be awesome if the governments werent trying to control us and the criminals werent trying to abuse us.
Apple computers are just a brand nothing more. There's nothing you couldnt do on an Apple that you couldnt do on a Windows machine you built in your basement. You can do anything on windows linux or osx that you can do on any other. Apple is just a name and a white box with a big price tag. If you want to make people think you're sophisticated, intelligent and creative: read a book, paint a picture, become a conversationalist. You're not what you buy.
As ethically uplifting the Constitution is, Catholics prefer to follow a morally uplifting set of laws. Unfortunately, nowhere in there is speech said to be free. If they really wanted to be free, they certainly wouldn't be Catholics.
And heres why: only unsigned bands will be able to get on U.S. net radio stations. Seriously, fark the RIAA. The other good news is all the streams with copyrighted music will be overseas, either hosted there or run by foreigners, it doesnt really matter. Either way more people will be looking overseas to give the finger to the U.S.
This really does make me sad, though. Hopefully this will jumpstart artists to move to more independent labels.
Are there any good websites out there to learn about professional audio engineering? As a musician I'd like to be able to produce my own music but also as a musician I don't have the money to go to school for it.
I have to admit this is probably the most horrible thing I've ever read. If anyone is going to hell its the members of Islam who would align themselves with such a terrible organization.
Wow. I live near a Monsanto Plant.

When I was 8 years old I went to a Monsanto PR booth during an ecology festival at the local museum. My first question was "How could you be so concerned for the environment if everything in that area smells like paint?" He didn't seem to have an answer except for "We're obey all federal laws blah blah blah". It was very discouraging. My Chemistry teacher in high school used to work night shift at the plant when he was young and inclass he would tell us stories about guys who would drop deap in the middle of the shift from the fumes.
They had just released these new products I had every intention of purchasing. Christmas is just around the corner! When we find out abou the DC Emu scene we all went out and bought dreamcasts, thats about 11 of us. Then we found out about bleemcast, and beer flowed like water, now theyre out of business. Damn them i say! Ill write an email, maybe we can convince them to open source, just as long as sony doesnt buy out the company....grr.

Looking at that list, and only seeing ONE ite I've ever been to, i have to wonder how big this internet thing really was. It's easy to forget how epic the world economy, primarily the U.S., has been the past 5 or 6 years. All that money down the drain, just goes to show that sometimes it doesn't matter how much money you throw at it, if theres no market then youre doomed.
Of course this also makes it easier for me to register some domains:)
Now that I'm in school studying comp sci i hope theres a computer market to speak of when I graduate:\

The only magazine I'll buy is adbusters, some might say it has ads in it, but i'd say it has calls to action.
