How can you mark this as funny, when it is obviously a troll? You've probably never moved out of your momma's basement in Arkansas, so don't crack a forward moving city like Omaha!
This was on all of our Omaha news outlets yesterday, so I figured it would grow to a national blip by sometime in the next couple of days. But to grow to an international story covered by the BBC and Slashdot in less than a day, that is amazing!
Actually, most people that live way out "in the middle of nowhere", including Alaska and my state of Nebraska, have a phone of some sort, usually a cell or satellite phone.
I have that hanging in my cube right now! I've always loved that one... Some of the want ads that they are dreaming about read:
Nintendo Expert Needed; $50,000 salary + bonus
Looking for Good Mario Brothers Player $100,000 plus your own car
Can you save the Princess? We need skilled men & women; $75,000 + Retirement
I fully agree! Although my only experience is in PKI. I was pleasantly surprised to see Creighton make it high on the list, and Omaha on the city list. I've heard there are some open hotspots downtown, but not city provided. I suppose our great cable access, telcoms, fortune 500's, and air force base help us out in the connectivity department immensely though!
I really wish I could be there so I could find out why my favorite feature is often malfunctioning. As of 12:30 CDT the "Day of Week" link in the Older Stuff column (currently Wednesday) doesn't take you to yesterday's issue. Instead it just refreshes the main page.
This seems to happen often enough for me to notice it, and I'm just wondering what the difficulty of coding this link may be. It probably just gets prioritized below most daily activities.
Stay strong, and proud, as I know everyone back here on the American shores is proud and supporting of you and your fellow troops! I live close to Offut AFB in Omaha, and we are all very much behind our troops here and abroad.
Seriously, does anybody here actually have a.name TLD for their website? More specifically, do you have a.name without the corresponding.net,.com, or.org?
You are correct, as I failed to think of this. However I believe that the current system of using the GPA also has this flaw. It too does not account for how prestigous a school one attends. This is left up to the grad school admittance team to discern. Something like this would be nice to standardize, but it based highly on opinion and social ideals.
I've felt the same for years. Why is your GPA so important? It does nothing to show how accomplished you are at your school. There should be a new system using the std deviation and average of your department/school (that you have mentioned), and possibly weighted in some way that will show exactly what your rank was in your class. This will have to take into account number of students in your class/department/school.
Hasn't anyone in an upper level decision making position thought of this before? They must have, but are choosing to ignore for political/organizational or other reasons...
We'll now see where Microsoft's real Security Initiative priorities lie. They'll probably secure this issue faster than securing holes in IE or OE, based purely on the fact that it is reducing their cash flow in. Sad, but true...
Nice to see a spare digital signal used to benefit another form of media, in this case the internet. However, this just seems to be a glaring opportunity for individuals in Cincinnati to hack the signal for free. Seriously, how long could it be before someone makes an open source version of their proprietary code? How about a PCI card that has the same functionality as theirs? Perhaps someone could point to a more technical article?
Another option to actually logging off of AIM would be to setup your preferences so only users on your buddy list can contact you, as mentioned somewhere in the article. Then change it back once the fix has been applied.
Of course this assumes that you can trust your buddies...
The way I see it, not too many products can last for a fifth version. The fact that they have made it this far speaks for itself, but it is because of a specialized viewing base. The only version 5 of anything that I remember using is Perl. Even though MSIE has made it that far, it's still full of holes and is really a version much farther if you count all of the updates!
And now:
Tivo Check
Picture Gallery - Yes
Music Jukebox - Yes
Easy web configuration - Yes

What brings you to my sweet town of Omaha?
I better go read up on the local conferences...
Looks like copyleft.net has other slashdot shirts, but they weren't pulling up correctly when I just tried.

Check out topcoder.com and hold a competition at your school. I think there's also a highschool.topcoder.com which would be more specific to you.

It is nearly the same document, only with a few added items, and both are written by James Cooper. It is a very good companion to the GoF book!
Giving George Washington the windup teeth for his dentures was the greatest!
I'm amazed that you can still buy the game. By the way, the original Sam and Max is here too!
If you haven't tried them yet, be sure to check them out. These are two of the funnest games I have ever played, especially DOTT!

Where was this before the question was asked?
:-)
Always nice when Slashdot can answer it's own questions

"The worm utilises it's own SMTP engine so it does not depend on Outlook for e-mail sending."
:-P
Not even a virus can depend on Outlook anymore...
Actually the time has been stated as midnight pacific, which would make it 2AM CT or 3AM ET.
Just wanted to clarify...

AOL Time Warner is just trying to cash in on the hottest item in U.S. entertainment today. I can picture the executive meeting now:
"How can we cash in on Survivor, Temptation Island, and the Internet at once?"
"I know! Let's setup AOL to vote off sexually tempting websites!"
I wonder if all of the pr0n sites will compete for the most votes?
