that site has never rendered quite right with FF... I simply installed the IE Tab add-on for FF and set it to always render Netflix with IE(still shows up in FF). I also found that the interactive map on weather.com requires me to do the same thing....
I'm tellin ya, find the guys who write a couple of these things, or that run a bot net or even a small spamming operation, charge them with crimes against humanity or some such garbage, and kill them very slowly on live TV... Then take away everything their families own... money, property, put them out on the street. SPAM would stop soon after the second or third execution and the world will be better for it.
I don't know anybody who would bother watching videos online if they started having ads like television... Just seems like a great way to kill your user base... but then again, consumers have a habit of taking whats offered to them, not because it's the only thing that's available but rather because they really are that stupid. ARRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!!!! I hate the retarded masses that are letting this happen to our world.
I use to have a disk copy tool for a mac that used video ram when duplicating floppies to try and make it faster... It made a bunch of nice garbage on the screen while it was working too. That was 15 years ago, I'm not impressed...
It wasn't really that practical back then, and it's certainly not practical at all today...
set her up with a laptop and internet access(verizon unlimited business wireless card???) and set up some book marks to a bunch of sound boards... Sure, she might not sound quite like herself, but you'll be rolling around on the floor laughing your butt off...;-)
You can get one at Wallmart or where ever you can find Go Phones... It's small and cheap, has excellent battery life and no frills... I charge mine every other day and manage 30 minutes of talk time a day on it.
The only thing wrong with mine is the battery meter, it isn't terribly accurate.... but I really don't mind because I know I can go 2-3 days between charges...
It's a good simple phone, and that's all it is. I wish my blackberry worked half as well... lol
keep in in that it's not just how much the power costs, but how much is available in the area... some areas simply don't have an extra 40MW to spare... Here in Quincy they will be pulling around 200MW within 3-5 years...
Really, if people start hunting for spammers and breaking limbs the spam would stop almost over night. Maybe countries should offer spammer as well as terrorist hunting permits...;-)
I too had a 99/4a... in fact I still have several of them, even have double sided souble density drives and controllers including a cor comp replacement for the PE box. it's hardly larger than the speech module.:-)
Got ram drives for it, and a gram cracker with multiple banks among other things... still a neat toy even to this day, though the emulators they have now are excellent and supprt everything in software that the real thing did in hardware.
I even had the privlige of playing with a 99/5... I heard that only 3 were ever released outside of TI for testing, not sure how true it is, but it looked just like a two tone 99/4a but was faster and had extended basic built in.:-)
I'm about 90% certain of this, we just had the same thing happen on 2 laptops a few weeks back. Why the guys at work were playing games... well... let's not go there...
We would get a slow down after 5-15 minutes of game play, exit the game and everything was normal in maybe 30 seconds. During this time the CPU fan was running like a banshee. We figured it was the CPU overheating so we ran prime95 on it for 2 hours with no trouble. We ran Cinibench and had no problem. We ran tests on the memory and hard drive and found nothing. The trouble would only appear in games, we reinstalled the drivers, even tried beta drivers, and no luck...
Finnally as luck would have it one of the guys wanted to compare his laptop performance to his computer at home and he ran 3D Mark on it. BAM! the problem occured in the middle of the test.
Anyway, we finnally called tech support after messing around for 3 days, and managed to get to somebody who could tell us what was happening after around 2 hours on the phone.
Turns out that there was a batch of mobile graphics chips that just wasn't quite up to snuff, they simply put out too much heat, something like 30% over what the max spec said. We sent our laptops in and had them back in a few days with new video cards and they problem was solved.
I have a removable drive, I ghost every month and do incremental backups every week to a DVD-RW.(seperate DVD for each incremental)... Worst case I lose a week and a couple of save games.
The nice thing about ghosting is that I get to use a cheap 120GB 5400 rpm drive and save many compressed images from the drive I'm backing up... I'm backing up a 36GB(?) 10,000 rpm WD Raptor. It only take 15 mintues to restart, boot from my ghost cd, save the image, and reboot into windows XP.
I didn't like the RAID solutions I was looking at, this not only works just as well for my needs, but I get to keep the removable HDD in a safe(fireproof of course) at the other end of the house just in case...
I've had "some" luck with those 3g modem cards in a laptop here at work. It was about as fast as Ricochet was in my area, 5-11 kbps. Not great but at least as fast as a good modem connection.
While cable is still a little expensive, it may offer a better alternative if you really need a reliable connection and don't want to put money in the bells pockets.
If your not concerned about reliability, try looking for a bargain DSL package.
As far as the ISP goes just make sure that they have the following.
1) At least 2 independant fiber connection that use geographically different routes to get to the building.
2) Dual redundant UPS power.
3) At least 1 generator.
4) A/C should run on UPS or Generator power.
5) A fully redundant network(mesh topology?).
After you find an ISP with ALL of these you need to get a connection on each of the incomming fiber connection. As far as your end of things, 2 routers would be good, but you can pick up something like an OLD and inexpensive Cisco 75xx or Bay BCN with dual serial or T-1 cards and DUAL CPU's as well as at least dual power supplies.
Reliable connections don't have to cost an arm and a leg, just a LOT of research and careful planning!
Right, it is possible to cause both ends to round robbin. My guess would be since this is ADSL that your more worried about download speeds. If your connections are both from the same ISP simply tell them what you want, if they play stupid and say it can't be done tell them you need both lines connected to the same router on their end(the same cisco, redback, assured access, whatever they use) and that you want the same IP addresses assigned to each account. Then tell them you want 2 default routes from them to you, AND that they MUST be weighted equally. There, problem solved...
I've done this on both redback and cisco routers MANY times... usually for added reliability over 2 lines, the added bandwith is just a bonus.:-)
Where is the pleantiful cheap power that we should have, that we deserve to have? There are several solutions to fix our power problems ranging from the state telling those idiots wearing ties to turn their power plants back on to building inexpensive power plants.
There are companies that build tidal power plants, the plants are inexpensive and generate a good ammount of power. There are plants that use the water to turn turbines and others that use air preasure created by the tide to turn the turbines. Both types can be used right off the coast and are non poluting...
Then there is the matter of power storage. Why do we not just store some power for later user? Leave non-poluting power plants running at full power all the time and only use poluting plants when we exceed both the stored power capacity and the capacity of the non-poluting plants? How do you store that much power? Use GIANT friggin flywheels for all I care, just store excess energy...
And if we could store excess energy in a flywheel what's stopping us from going a step further and making a flywheel with magnets around the outside, around this flywheel and in the housing build a VERY LARGE and VERY POWERFUL electromagnet, use a laser lightning rod(there was an article talking about UV lasers to ionize air and provide an electrical patha day or two ago) and use that to fire the electro magnet and spin up the flywheel to store energy from lightning(not efficient I know, but you get the point).
Am I just crazy or is the industry holding back on even trying stuff like this?
Don't give him a choice, take everything AND put him in jail...
Depending on where you live finding an IT job isn't going to be easy...
I'm up in Redmond and am witness to Microsoft laying off 15,000 people, just imagine how other companies are handling the bad times...
lol
Waiers that say it's not your respnsibility...
Property tags on everything of value with the persons name or initials or something to ID the items...
Knowing what people bring in you can limit what they take out... but it should still be the owners responsibility to keep an eye on their own stuff...
that site has never rendered quite right with FF... I simply installed the IE Tab add-on for FF and set it to always render Netflix with IE(still shows up in FF). I also found that the interactive map on weather.com requires me to do the same thing....
hope this helps!
it's one less spammer to worry about... personally I wouldn't mind seeing spammers executed... but that's just me...
I'm tellin ya, find the guys who write a couple of these things, or that run a bot net or even a small spamming operation, charge them with crimes against humanity or some such garbage, and kill them very slowly on live TV... Then take away everything their families own... money, property, put them out on the street. SPAM would stop soon after the second or third execution and the world will be better for it.
all this oil and were still gonna pay $4 a gallon for it even though we will be pumping it out of our own back yard... lol

if you want that much memory stop looking at desktop boards and look at workstation/server boards.

The power sucks so bad in my neighborhood I could get truly random numbers just by sampling the live voltage! ;-)
