Hmm, well, smart people (people who figure out how to do well on these tests) will definitely do well.
Of course then there are some not so smart people (but who still figure out how to do these tests) who do well... I suppose they get points for knowing how to work the system, and that's certainly important right?
The *only* problem is when smart people don't do well on these tests. That's the people we need to figure out how to catch.
The 'unsmart' people who don't do well... effectively have been culled as designed, right?

I was just talking about this with a friend, and now it's real!
Use it to 'mark' the kids your child hangs out with so you can always keep track of what they do. Love and trust your kid, but be wary of his/her friends!
It does when you start seeing El Salvadoran cars in the US; then the US cars are competing with lower priced, similar quality, cars.
What do you think the Korean cars are? And then in response, the Scions and Focuses?
In a competitive market, someone will introduce cheaper product to gain marketshare; and Ford *could* sit on their profits, until they're all eaten up by Daewoo, or they could react by building a cheaper, and better, car.
Unfortunately gaim doesn't support AIM's video chat.
Is there something out there that does? I was looking forward to AIM 5.5 connecting with iChat to do video chat with my dad and friends; now I may have to avoid that if the AIM spyware is bad (sigh)
But do what you will. I've been using firewire drives for three years now, and they're awesome. Plug into my desktop, into my laptop, into my friend's computer...
Of course, my first, and what sold me on the idea, drive was an iPod!
Another usable solution. But the speed and price of DVD-R now ($150 for the drive, $1.5 for the media) , it's cheaper to use DVD-R and get a nice sleeve, and back up much faster, than tape.
AFAIK, tape still runs at $1/gb, while DVD-R is now $0.20/gb
Every time we have an article on DVD+/- media, or BluRay, or something, we have all these moaners complaining about optical compatibility; they are avoiding, rather than buying, due to some mystical compatibility issue.
If your system can read and write it's own disks, that's all you need! If you can't read someone else's disks, why exactly would *not* buying a DVD+/- drive change that?
I've been using DVD-R for 1 and a half years now, and it's great. Backup of my home directory (which is only 12gb) is easy and convenient.
As per lifetime... my data becomes obsolete within a year, and then it's time for another backup. If you want serious data backup, you'll need a good sized hard drive array and use some data center type software, not optical drives.
An XBox costs less than a reasonable CPU upgrade Less than most decent 3d video cards Less than a new motherboard and ram Less than a case, hard drive, and power supply
So the better question is, (and as a Mac user, I get this *all* the time), why should I spend more on a PC when an XBox is 90% as good?
Of course this does require Microsoft to do the following:
Remove dependency on the registry Separate data from executables. Programs should not be saving data into their execution folder, but instead into the/Users/Owner/Preferences/ folder Make applications self contained, drag and drop able. Copying a program then is all that's needed to install, and deleting the program should uninstall it.
Design the system to make it trivial to backup and restore user data then.
To use an existing model:
OS X stores all user data in the/Users/ directory. Right click, make archive, and you have a backup. Store on a CD. Store on an iPod. Store anywhere.
Wipe the system, restore, then mount the CD, iPod, whatever. Copy the data over, and you have all your data back. ALL of it. Including application preferences, documents, logs, etc. In fact, the process of restoring the backup literally is 'insert CD, copy' or 'plug in iPod, copy'.
If you mean re-imaging is a problem for Aunt Tillie... It's essentially just reinstalling the OS from scratch, but there's nothing stopping you from making backups for the/Applications/ folder as easily as you can back up and restore the/Users/ folder.
Peter makes a living taking Spidey pictures Mary forces him to choose between the Spider and her. *Harry forces him to choose, because Harry loves Peter and hates the Spider Peter decides he loves his friends and family too much, so ditches the Spider *Someone steals the costume Doc Oc develops a new weapon platform for Harry/Osborne industries *Freak accident ensues (not like Green Goblin, that wasn't an accident, it was intentional) *Harry offers to research how to restore Octavius, but first wants him to bring in Spider-Man *Octavius captures a fake Spider-Man Octavius tries to track Spider-Man through Peter, takes MJ hostage *Spider-Man must rescue MJ *Harry is hopped up on Goblin Juice too *Peter confronts Harry, says MJ is too important for their rivalry (Spider vs Goblin) *Battle between Goblin and Spider *Work together to rescue MJ from Octavius
Why do I believe Harry is hopped up? In the first movie there were two villains: Burgler and Goblin, and they played off each other on Peter. If this follows the formula, then so will Octavius and Harry.
If the guy ahead of you is speeding, he'll get to the light before you will. If the stretch is a proper length, and he's there waiting for 30 seconds, and it takes you 30 seconds to get to the light, you won't even notice the light (barring accidents caused by the speeder, as usual)
And if the speeder keeps speeding and triggering all the lights, you might very well see no lights ever, just because the speeder is tripping the lights for you.
Many neighbors are so peeved with the popularity of the road that they didn't want a traffic signal at all at Montevino because it would allow traffic to flow better than the stop sign it replaced. At least the stop signs made speeding impossible and persuaded some commuters to steer clear, neighbors said.
So this new gadget becomes a stop sign for speeders, and actually smooths out traffic flow for the residents.
Seems like the local community wins with this new stop light/traffic signal.
It's direct3D-9 hardware accelerated, so it'll be one of the fastest GUIs out there, much faster than anything in the UNIX world, simply through co-operation with the card manufacturers.
Hmm, you do realize that OS X (arguably a Unix) has been OpenGL hardware accelerated for nearly two years already (May 2002) and by the time Longhorn ships it will be even more hardware accelerated, and approaching four years of OpenGL acceleration.
To claim it will be one of the fastest GUIs, *and* much faster than anything in the UNIX world, seems kind of baseless. What are you comparing against? A future unfinished product with a finished product hardly seems fair to the *unfinished* product.
What if I want to put it on my other solid-state mp3 player, in mp3 format?
As the name Fairplay suggests, if you want to convert it to mp3 format, iTunes will allow for that!
It's not *convenient*, but it is easy!
Burn to a CD; rerip as an mp3, and copy protection is defeated.

We barely understand weather on Earth; any and every bit of information we have on storms outside of Earth helps us to understand storms, and weather, on Earth, for one.
So that means waves on Titan and spots on Saturn. This boils down to fluid dynamics, energy exchange, and chaos.
This also means it applies to helicopters, airplanes, submarines, cars, drip irrigation systems, washing machines, tornado prediction, and the lottery!

I say Linux isn't innovative :P
Mac has had that spell check feature since 2001 (and earlier with the OS X beta) and even earlier in NeXTStep since 1986.
How long has KDE had spellcheck? How long has KDE existed?

Battery powered
